arco thunder = just rumble?

I was at game #5 and #7 of the WCF, and I still think game #3 of the 1999 Utah series was by far the loudest game i've ever been to.

I know Doug Collins said that it was the best fan support he had ever seen, but you also have to remember this was a #8 beating a #1 team - and not just any #1 team. Dallas was a #1 seed with the 6th best record in NBA history!

If we beat the Sonics in game 4 back in 1996, I'm sure ARCO would have stood up the entire second half as well.

Um...yeah, and lest we not also forget what happened after we clinched the division title back in 02'...I was one of the THOUSANDS who went out to Arco Arena that night just to stand in line to get Division Champion T-SHIRTS for God's sake...and we didnt even care that they ran out...the line went all the way around the arena, and it was freaking midnight!! Was anyone else in here out there then, too?? We made it loud even when the team was 500 miles away!! I got the 'Beat LA' chant going all the way around the damn arena!! C'mon, we're all freaks here...no one can match our passion!! I DARE any city in THIS country to try to match it!! BRING IT!!:D

Anyone remember going out to the airport to greet the team after a playoff win/loss? Now that is fan support. Seems like such a long time ago.

Hell yeah, I was one of them! Hell, I wasnt at game 3 against Utah in 98', but man, you'd have thought we just won the championship...me and a bunch of friends caravaned out to Arco after the game just to celebrate with everyone in the parking lot...and you know what, we were a few of MANY that did that.:D

How 'bout the Mavs fans???

Only 2 showed up at the airport for their return???

It's sad but I think the fans expected a whole lot more from them. Meaning they're not going to come out to see a team that should have won it all this year but lost in the first round. I guess part of that is fans become spoiled.

I wonder if our fans would do the same. how many of us would be there to support our team.

I went to Game 6, Warriors and the Mavs sitting near the top at Center Court. It might have been different sitting lower near the court, but I didn't really get that deafening ringing in my ear until the 3rd quarter when the Warriors were pulling away.

Of course your ears would be ringing later in the game if they've been abused by the loud noises for most of the game.

I rememebr the Kings hosting the Mavericks for the first game at Arco in that series and early on, Grant and Jerry couldn't talk over the noise of the fans and the speakers made crackling noises after a Webber Dunk in the 1st quarter. Those were good times.

Actually I don't think the Sac fans have shown up after playoff wins for a few years now. And doubtful they'd show up if they just choked historically in the playoffs for the second year in a row. Well, maybe with tar and feathers. ;)

Its much more exciting to most fans when its a new experience, like it was for Sac back then, or its new again after a long drought, like for the Warriors this year.

Someone earlier mentioned Arco being so loud, you don't hear it so much anymore as feel it.

I've felt that. Its like the crowd gets so loud that it suddenly seems strangely muted and you just feel this pressure wave. Sort of like the pressure you feel taking off in a jet. Sort of.....I really don't know how to describe it.

Amazing. I've never expreienced it anywhere else. I couldn't even understand someone shouting right in my ear. (yes they were speaking english ;) )

I think you're right; I don't think our fans have shown up for the team in the last several years.

The Warriors deserve this.

This might be a little weird to say but, I was actually hoping that we wouldn't have made the playoffs last year. I love Rick and I was hoping that he would get there because I didn't like the direction people were treating him but as far as the fan..I don't know how to explain it...

They've got the freaking noise meter displayed on every shot made tonight by the Warriors...and hey, they hit 110 decibels...DAMMIT, WE DO THAT IN OUR SLEEP!! We hit 130 with 3,000 fewer people!

I agree. That pisses me off having them do the sound meter. I'm thinking "110 isn't anything compared to Arco".

That sound meter is funny.

The only time I ever felt the arco thunder at a different venue was the 49er/packer NFC wildcard game. T.O. caught that last second TD and that stadium went absolutely bonkers. Best feeling I have ever had as a sports fan. Everyone in that stadium was jumping up and down and hugging one and other. Still, when it came to a sustained roar NO PLACE COMPARES TO ARCO!

AMEN!! Damn Tirico and Hubie Brown are pimping Oakland fans like they're the best thing since sliced bread...'the fans didnt sit down during the last timeout'...OOOH!!! THERE'S a freaking accomplishment!! They still havent hit more than 110 decibels...WE GET THAT IN THE ARCO PARKING LOT!!

Oh, and btw, I wasnt at that Niners/Packers game,(I could only imagine how you felt actually BEING there) but I was watching it at a bar full of Packer fans(just my luck, I picked the bar that the Packer fans picked). But when T.O. caught that pass...I jumped up on a table and was going CRAZY!! It was truly a spiritual event.:D

It was spiritual:)

What you were feeling, multiply that by 50,000.
Nothing will compare to that last second, game winning, playoff catch. I like to think that one day we will get something like that here in sac. By the way, there were a lot of packer fans there that day and they were loud and obnoxious. It felt so good to see them so down and out after T.O.'s catch.

Yeah, I could only imagine...I'm also a Twins fan and I still dont think anything will compare to the noise in the Dome back in 87 and 91...I think thats the only other thing I can compare Arco to. Arco is a truly spiritual place to watch basketball, especially when we have a decent team on the court...but no matter, we were that way when we even win 30 games for 10 straight seasons...I DARE Warrior fan to step to us and tell us they're better than we are as far as supporting our team and being true fans through thick and thin! We were this loud when we SUCKED!

Oh, and I think we DID have one close comparison, as far as last second heriocs in the playoffs...Mr. Bibby provided that in the WCF in 2002. I was in tears after that game.(like thats the only time THAT'S happened to me after a Kings game...NOT!:D)

I can't even imagine being there for that shot by Bibby. Not quite the same, but it was pretty darn special to see Martin's last second lay-up over Duncan last year in the playoffs. Arco went pretty insane. :D
