Meanwhile, the Arco Arena return for Matt Barnes was hardly memorable.

If Chris Webber was disappointed and jolted that he was traded from the Kings to the Philadelphia 76ers, Matt Barnes was crushed with the news and still is.

The Kings were his team.

From elementary school in Carmichael, to his high school days at Del Campo, to summer workouts with Bobby Jackson when Barnes was excelling at UCLA, he would fantasize, Geez, wouldn't it be so cool to make that roster and wear those colors?

Barnes made the team this season and had nine solid starts. He has since vanished at the end of the 76ers' bench. He hasn't played a minute, making him a true throw-in to the Webber deal. He's officially on the injured list with knee tendinitis, though he's not exactly sure which knee it's supposed to be that ails him.

So, all things considered, how's it going, Matt?

"Terrible," the swingman muttered. "It's not going very well at all. I know this is a business, but I didn't expect this. And to not play at all, it hurts. I'm very disappointed."

Barnes scrambled for as many tickets as he could for Monday's game. He was able to fetch some extras from Jackson and Mike Bibby for family and friends who wanted to see him play but instead saw him in street clothes.

Injury front

Corliss Williamson was not with the Kings, resting at home with a migraine. Adelman said he expected his reserve forward to play against Detroit on Wednesday.

The coach also had no update on the status of Brad Miller (fractured left leg) and Jackson (left wrist ligament tear), both of whom hope to be playoff-ready.

"When we have good news, they'll tell me," Adelman said of the team's medical staff.

Miller, however, said: "I have phenomenal calcium growth. I'm a week ahead of schedule. I've been waiting to hear some good news for a month."

Miller is in a soft cast now and said he will be begin shooting next week. Jackson said he still cannot bend his wrist up and down, his ligaments still healing.

"I'd rather have a broken bone than this, because with a broken bone, you know when you can come back," Jackson said.

KING FOR A DAY

CUTTINO MOBLEY
The Philadelphia native scorched the franchise he grew up admiring, going for a season-high 30 points, despite not reaching the free-throw line. He had six three-pointers, five assists, three steals and three blocked shots.

BIG NUMBER

.733 -
Kings' shooting percentage from three-point range (11 for 15), a season high.

SOUND BITE

"They were going to give him his due, and it was well-deserved."

-- Kings coach Rick Adelman on the long pregame ovation for Chris Webber

QUESTION POSED

CAN THE KINGS BECOME ROAD WARRIORS WITH THE WESTERN CONFERENCE RACE TIGHTENING UP BEHIND THEM?
They have to, period, or they run more risk of the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies and even the Denver Nuggets of catching them. The Kings are 17-18 on the road this season, falling in five of their last six away from Arco Arena. Detroit, which the Kings belted 100-85 on March 6, looms Wednesday. Then it's Cleveland, whom the Kings pounded by 27 on Jan. 20 before the trade. Mike Bibby is struggling with his shot, and he'll have no easy chore with Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton on Wednesday.

Poor Matt, he deserves better, I hope he gives Sacramento another chance and he trys out for us next year again... I miss him....

^I agree with you all....give us Matty back if you guys don't want him, Philly! I really miss Matt's hustle and efforts. I hope to see him in a Kings uniform someday again. Sad to see him disappointed and unhappy... :(

But I'm glad to hear that Brad's a week ahead of schedule. That's good news! Can't wait to get you back, Brad & Bobby!!!!

We all know how "good" 76ERS are in assessing talent. Afterall we are talking about the team that let Skinner rot on the bench.

They should've just waived him for us to re-acquire if they knew they were going to use that old bum Aaron McKie instead of him.

Good job Brad! Keep drinking that milk or whatever it is that's got your calcium growth going like that. If he plays at all in the playoffs, the fact that he's tall, can set nice screen and hit some shots makes us much better.

Well this quote makes me feel even worse about the whole situation then before...come back to us Matt come back

Miller, however, said: "I have phenomenal calcium growth. I'm a week ahead of schedule. I've been waiting to hear some good news for a month."

Im still hoping he can miraculously pull a "TO" and be back and a lot better than everyone ever hoped he'd be....come back to us Brad come back....you too BJax

Makes me feel good about how well our team is ran. Get the best out of every player. Adelman and Petrie may not be perfect, but they do a damn good job at using the talent we have.

I certainly hope Barnes can come back next year.

Daniels actually did earn less than Barnes (about half as much, albeit very small contract numbers obviously), so maybe not.

^^nice, nice. glad to hear that, brad!

i also hope matt comes back to sac! since he's not playing in philly, we won't be in competition with any other team looking for a backup. and i'm sure matt will give the kings the upperhand anyway. :D

Is there any way Matt could be waived by Philly and available for us to pick up?

I think so but who's minuets dosuggest he take? Corless's? Mo Evans? Kenny Thomas? Don't get me worng I hate to see Barnes languising in the infamous Philly Toomb, but I am not sure that there isa palce for him in the KIngs rotation right now. Next season could well be a different story. In the mean time I suggest he keep close contact with Biran Skinner for advice and moral support.

I don't understand why Philly didn't just simply waive Matt. He could have resigned with the Kings this season. Oh well I think there is probably a good chance for him to be signed by the Kings next season if he's willing to sign for the minimum.

Lets put this in perspective. Skinner was on the IR and he was never hurt. Shows why Philly won't be going anywhere anytime soon. At least until they get a new coach / and GM.

Koz and Tank interviewed Barnes after the game...the guy looks and sounds so depressed...I think the AMA is actually on the verge of classifying a new type of depression- PKD. Post-Kings Depression. Seems to happen to almost everyone...

Matt.... we miss u. Its hard to say we have the best loving organization when we hurt so many peoples hearts by trades. We're on a roll this year: webber, christie, matt...

I really do not understand why philly has not just waived barnes. HE has not played a single minute and they obviously do not want him and he does not want to be there.

I do not think Matt will resign with the Kings in the off season, I do think he will sign a decent contract with a team who can use his skills.

Good luck to Matt because it was great to have him on our team for even a short period of time.
