Anyone interested in a video game draft?

The only place it gets even remotely complicated, as far as I can see, is in the case of expansion packs, as they don't technically even work unless you've got the original game already installed. With MMOs against the rules, however, I don't see it being as huge an issue as it could be.

Good point - how do we want to handle expansion packs? There are a few games where the expansion packs make the game significantly different than the regular games. No strong feeling either way about it either way at this point.

Also, when we say at the time they were released, I think the "in their prime" idea has to trump, because there are lots of games where subsequent patching fixed problems with the original games (some bugs in the original release), and sometimes the patching process can take a while.

EDIT: I was thinking about the expansion pack that was for the N64, assume we have that. As for expansion packs to games, what do everyone think should be the rule? I'd be fine with those. Although as you mentioned, that does kind of conflict with the in their prime rule. I'll wait for feedback on this

Only 3 spots remaining

Three? Is this an only 8 person draft? I'm guessing you can get more than that, especially with the time you have before the music draft will even be over.

As for expansion packs, allow them without a prerequisite of having the game that requires them to be played. We'll just pretend on our island that expansion packs are magical and load the entire game into your machine.

Chances are that the only expansion packs that will be drafted will be huge favorite over the original games so there won't be this battle over who can get the first part and then who can subsequently get the expansion pack.

Also, I am still confused on what you decided with your console per system whatever it was rule. I still think the rule you have in place is pretty bad, and games should just be taken by name and not system. This is how it is in every other draft.

Umm, there are 13 people signed up so far. Have you looked at the list and the rules recently?

Oh, you know what? What the hell. Some of the other drafts are going to be ending soon, so I can do this. Won't be a question of winning -- I do not own a console, and only have time to complete a couple of games a year around responsibilites anymore. But I am a first generation gamer and have been playing them for 25 years. So add me to the list and I'll introduce you younguns to some golden oldies. ;)

That's 16. This filled up a lot quicker than I anticipated. So if one of the mods could split the participants list and rules it would be appreciated. Thanks :)
