Anyone else get the feeling...

Maybe. But the point is that we don't. Some people, though, seem to be assigning virtues to Green that may or not exist, simply based on the fact that he is currently on a winning team. It would have been interesting to see how a player with Green's temperament would have turned out if he had been drafted by, say, the Nets instead.

Regarding building a better team around Cousins: Is it possible? If so, how long will it take? If it takes several years, then Cousins isn't sticking around. Where's the ammo to do so? The ammo has been wasted on stupid draft picks over the past several years. The organization has a terrible rep, which doesn't induce FAs to come here unless they are desperate and have baggage. Who on this team has improved their trade value over this last year? WCS maybe. Gay certainly hasn't. McLemore hasn't. Nobody can expect the draft pick is going to make a big difference next year. I just see the hamster continuing to spin the wheel...

We don't need as much improvement in the talent base as people think we do. At least not to make the playoffs as a lower seed.

This team performed a full 10 wins below its talent. You need to draw the talent out, patch a few holes, get some more development from WCS and possibly Curry. The real reason to be upset about this season is precisely because we should have been better. That's why Vlade moved so quickly on Karl here.

Meh. Only a few coaches in the game who are worth that much to their team. Karl was bad, but the utter lack of defensive personal on the perimeter was equally as important for our suckage .

You're assuming a coach adds 10 wins off a neutral position.

This was not a neutral position. Karl actively cost us wins. Whoever's next can add them just by not being Karl, before we even get to being a positive.

I have always felt a good coach can add a few wins, but a bad coach can cost a team 10+ wins very easily.

Of course the Kings can play better than we saw this year. There was the horrible switching defense. Actively not defending 3 point shooters to help the Bigs in the paint. Not using ICE on the pick and roll. Just a horrid defensive scheme. Thibs put a bandaid on it when he consulted. The Kings need a solid defensive coach and a wing defender or two.

All the naysayers are making it seem an impossible task for the Kings to find a Coach and play a better brand of Basketball. when just last season all of us fans saw the defensive improvement under Malone. That was not a mirage folks and it can be done again. It will just take the right Coach.

I actually really really agree with this. Crazy thing is, i suspect that even the ones who DO realize how bad Karl was for us, have no clue just how awful it was behind the scenes. Im betting it was flat out
disgusting, day in and day out. I cringe when i think of the tension (understatement) and awkward moments.

spot on.

Karl created so much tension from day one this team never had a chance. I really can't see anyone out there doing a worse job than him.
In fact, his blatantly obvious mismanagement of this roster in the first half of the season could actually play in our favor with landing a decent coach. DMC was an All-Star despite George Karl running him into the ground and camping him out on the perimeter. Slow down and win more games. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that.
