...Cousins just played his last game in a Kings uniform? :(

His whole demeanor was just so strange. Not upset. Not pouting.. Just seemed completely disengaged. Looked like the only guy out of place. My gut instinct is that after last night's end of an era, this team goes a completely different direction next season with a new coach and a blockbuster trade shipping DMC out. Don't know how I feel either way, all I know is we deserve a winning team. Unfortunately horrible draft picks and incompetence in our front office has left us with only game changing asset in Cousins. What do you guys think?...

That's not entirely out of the realm of possibility but with that said, he has two years left...so I see the Kings giving it one last chance and then go their separate ways if things don't work out.

I still believe a competent coach could have gotten this roster to the playoffs. If a team blows us away with an offer, I'd be very tempted to take it. But on the other hand, there is nobody in the league I would rather see lead our Kings to the promise land. Cousins stuck with us through our darkest days and never demanded a trade. As bad as his attitude is at times, his loyalty means more to me than anything.

Did you not see his comments right after the game?

I honestly cannot believe how quickly some people are to want to borrow trouble (as my grandmother used to say).

What do I (not a guy, BTW) think? I think people need to step away from the ledge and breathe...

I've watched the whole game twice now and I didn't see him disengaged. I saw him being the first one off the bench to greet his teammates when they came off the court. I saw him frustrated because he was having an off-night but I didn't see him acting as though he'd rather be somewhere else.

I know what this thread is going to turn into and we've had similar threads all year long. The haters are gonna hate, the pessimists are going to find something to be pessimistic about and, unfortunately, most optimists or DMC fans are simply going to do what we've done most of the season - make one or two attempts to be positive and then give up to the doomsayers.

What the hell?!?!?

You start a thread with the notion that DMC's body language or attitude or something leads you to believe he wants to be elsewhere (DESPITE HIS REPEATED COMMENTS OF LOYALTY) and then you say he's stuck with us and never demanded a trade and his loyalty means more to you than anything?????

That loyalty should be a two-way street, my friend. Have some faith in him.

GOOD LORD. Did you lose money on the Masters today or something? Take a breath.

I never said he was slumping around like an ***hole. Just didn't seem himself is all. I also said I could see the front office going a different direction... did I ever say Cousins would leave on a trade demand??...

Cousins will be here under the new coach that Vlade hires and some tinkering on the roster by Vlade and a draft pick. I expect to make the playoffs next year.

Nobody knows what was up last night.

Before the game he spoke to the fans in something not shown on the broadcast, and looked fine. he looked disengaged while playing then was up congratulating the guys who won it. It could have been anything or nothing. I have no idea why he suddenly would have been out the door just before the final game at Arco. Maybe he didn't like us tanking with Rondo. Maybe he himself thought he was going to be tanked, and actually didn't want t play., Maybe tanking disgusts him. Maybe his dog died. Maybe his kid was sick. Maybe he was sick. Maybe his feet really hurt -- he certainly looked like he was hobbling. Maybe he was out late the night before partying with former Kings. Maybe a former King said something about him he didn't like. Maybe some of those adoring "best fans on the planet" who haven't been going to games for years started a welcoming "Cuz you suck" chant outside. Maybe he listened to Grant's show and heard the haters. Maybe he lost his level 57 Warcraft wizard to a hard drive failure. Maybe his agent told him he wanted him out. Maybe Vlade told him they were keeping Karl. Maybe Rondo told him he wasn't playing because he was leaving. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

We most certainly do not know enough to even know what we don't know.

Indeed he was the only guy out of place. He was the only King playing his last game of the season. The rest of them have two more games. Even in his last game he knew the team wasn't trying its utmost to win as his favorite PG was not suited up. The team, as orchestrated by the higher ups, was no longer playing in order to win. Cuz plays to win and I am guessing he didn't really know what was expected of him. He is merely a pawn in a game to get a draft choice. Note the word "guessing."

I am reading his mind which seems to be a favorite activity on this forum. I am not misstating in agreeing with you that he was the only guy out of place.

While the game was progressing I tried to envision my own attitude if I knew that the direction the team was going was to try to lose. How would I play? I'd have a problem with that.

It's not any players place to make decisions about what he thinks the team is trying to do (assuming all the guesswork is true). If everyone on the team just went out and tried they're best every night without getting involved in politics and drama, this team would have won more games. Then there would be no guesswork about tanking in the first place.

Maybe he is hurt. That is what it looked like to me at least.

Normally that's what always occurs when someone can physically match him (force him into terrible shots)with strength we have seen that DMC come and go for 6 years that was nothing new.

At least we know what happened to you before

26.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest.

sure as hell needs to be us that has his services next year.

i keep him under all circumstances beyond him publicly coming and out a throwing the franchise under the bus.

If he wants to go that's fine. Pull him in under closed doors and get him to buy into the fact we are giving this one last crack next season and if he doesn't like our off-season moves and play next season then we will consider moving him. For now we pay his bills so he's ours. Demarcus really isn't high maintenance so i dont see this being an issue unless hes literally been stowing away all season waiting to rage and push his way out. Really we sign Thibs or Messina, make one or two solid roster moves and we could be talking contract extensions.

You are pretty much spot on here. When he can't bully someone, it gets to him. It's evident as day.

At this point I am indifferent on this situation. On one hand the thought of having a clean slate in a new arena with a young core of guys without the Demarcus cloud hanging over the team sounds interesting. On the other, bringing back the core of this team(minus Rondo imo) with a coach the team gets behind would be enough to get me interested in next season.

No, he wasn't engaged smiling or pumped fro the opening tip. This wasn't a game driven thing. That was the odd part. He quite obviously was not in the spirit of things. Glanced at one of the other guys shrugged and kind of blew a puff of air like, well, here goes. Something was off.

Except that wasn't the case here. He wasn't ready to go before the game even began. One of our season ticket holders here said he could even see it in warmups.

OK lets say it was that (which I don't think it was), we have seen that before as well, what we are seeing is nothing new or surprising.

So I'm not crazy.

I've watched every game this kid has played in since becoming a King. Every game. Last night, something was not right with him.

For this game? Sure it was.

The other times all have mostly cognizable causes too. But the normal stuff causing issues was not here tonight. No back to back, nothing. hence the question.

Maybe he just really really fell in love with the old barn and was dispirted by the breakup. ;)

It was mentioned Boogie went quickly to the locker room in the 4th quarter.
Pretty obvious to me he wasn't 100%.
Actually, I don't think he was all season long.

Ah, a quick trip to the locker room. He could have had a touch of the "food poisoning" that's been going around. That would pretty much explain everything.

I didn't see anything worth worrying about.

He came out post game too and said a few things to the fans that stayed.

If I had to guess on a mystery problem, that I didn't see, it was all of the coming together with the arena closing down and us not being in the playoffs or a powerhouse. I'd imagine he wants to do that for us and himself. I'd expect that too from anyone who loves the city and fans here and was the best player on the roster.

And the team looked fired up to me too trying to get us that win.

This was something I had thought about as well. Aside from the foot problems, perhaps he was a little bummed to be at the point of retiring the arena, in front of the former Kings greats and all the fans, yet we are out of the playoff hunt YET AGAIN. I know personally this would bother me a great deal.
