Another hurdle on the way to MKG removed!!

I think I'd be ok with any of the 3, just from reading all the reports and articles about their workouts and stuff. I'd pick MKG over the other two, but it's a toss up for me between Barnes and Robinson.

From my observations, Barnes is a pretty big step down in athleticism from Robinson. I see Robinson as eventually having more dimensions to his game, especially when he can use his quickness facing the basket. Barnes seems just too ungainly, not quick enough or fluid enough to make a big impact at the 3. I hope there are some other teams ahead of us that totally disagree with me on Barnes and pick him ahead of the Kings.

I would say that the majority were iffy about the trade, but tried to be optimistic that Salmons would fill that SF role we needed. The number of people who were real excited about it was about the same as those who were going "WTF JOHN ****ing Salmons you have to be kidding me!". It was also an expectation that Jimmer would fit right in. If Jimmer had the great rookie season instead of IT, and Salmons played the same, the trade wouldn't look so bad now. I was one of the optimistic majority, and was happy that we got Jimmer, but I was doubtful that Salmons would be good for us because I hated him in his last stint here.

I assumed Salmons had changed. He hadn't and for some reason at first was next to useless. I hope Smart's memory is good and he remembers that Salmons looked pretty good as second string PG. In any case, you can't have him on the court with three other offensive minded players.

NBA scouts and college scouts use it as a form of conversation between one another. You can get breaking news long before its in the newspaper, especially the Bee, or before its even on ESPN at times.

While I liked Jimmer, I wasn't a big fan of the Salmons trade. But, as you said, I tried to remain opptimistic that it would work out for us. To my mind, Salmons and Jimmer aren't really connected, except for how the whole thing went down. We could have drafted Jimmer by just staying where we were. I realize they were also trying to fix the SF situation but I think we could have done it in a less expensive way. A part of me felt that they were also trying to do away with any PG controversy by shipping out Beno, and leaving the door totally open for Tyreke.

Obviously MKG is my first choice, but Robinson is my second choice. And mark my words, Robinson is going to be a very good player in this league. He's just starting to tap into his potential. I still think he can play SF in the future because of his athletic abiltiy. Right now, he's limited by his ball handling and a consistent outside shot. Both are good enough to play PF right now, and will become good enough for the SF position in the future. Not saying thats where his future lies, just that its possible.

I like Robinson a lot too... I actually really like all of the top 5 guys. Disagree with Robinson ever playing significant minutes at sf though... he's Blake Griffin lite as far as I'm concerned.

As Charlotte continues to ponder its decision at No. 2, numerous executives expect the Bobcats to be approached by Cleveland (No. 4) about the possibility of swapping picks (if it hasn’t happened already) in order for the Cavaliers to land Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal. While Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving is known to be a huge proponent of drafting North Carolina small forward Harrison Barnes, it appears Beal has shot up their big board just as he has so many others, and it’s widely believed that he won’t get past Washington at No. 3 if they don’t make a move.

The Cavs have four picks (Nos. 4, 24, 33, 34), and those could be enticing to the Bobcats as assets should they decide to pursue both quality and quantity in this draft. It would make some sense, considering they’re coming off such a horrific season (league-record-low winning percentage of .106) and need so much roster help. What’s more, if the widely held opinion that Washington would take Kentucky small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at the No. 3 spot if Beal was gone held true, the Bobcats could still get Barnes at No. 4 if that’s the direction they wanted to go.

The Wizards desparately need Beal in order to keep their roster balanced.

My guess is that if Cleveland is truly willing to give up assets to get Beal, then Washington would probably match those offers, because they need Beal more than Cleveland does.

Cleveland could easily start Barnes as their SF if they drafted him and Robinson would be an upgrade over Tristan Thompson. But for Washington, Robinson isn't going to be an upgrade over Nene next season, and Washington is really deep at the SF position and I don't think MKG would even start for them.

After trading for 2 expensive defensive role players and having absolutely no shooting do the Wiz really go with a defender/mediocre shooter in MKG over Barnes? Or even Robinson to form a trio with Nene/Okafor? The Bobcats have to expect that if they move to 4 they will get their choice of Barnes or Robinson and are good with either.

Just going on what I know and not the Kings' experience, they have 4 guys they have to sign for multiple years and three may not be any good. Still have to pay them. I'll say it a different way, 4 roster spots will be taken up for several years blocking them from signing a great FA. And we think we are young and inexperienced with several players taken in the top 10. What are they thinking of?



Thinking a little further, if we had those picks, we would probably have to let JT go, we would be unable to sign TWill, and we probably would have to amnesty someone. It would ruin whatever team we have at the moment. And we whine. Cleveland loses LeBron because he and his friends wanted to have fun and he probably didn't think he was good enough to build a team around and now this. I suppose none of this is of any purpose to discuss but as we wonder if agents are telling their players to avoid us, they lost King James and for that, he will not be forgiven in my book. In my youth players stayed with teams. Now they go for the money or go for the ring. Down the line is their consideration of the fans.

Wayman was the starting PF, Carr backed him up. AB got mins behind LTrain. That was my first year of season tickets !

Bonner's skill set was PF all the way. But remember with Motta's forward oriented flex offense, he could play with him at SF. The difference you normally associate in the classic sense of SF and PF wasn't the same in Motta's world. He also liked playing Tisdale and Carr at the forward spots and used Wennington in the high post.
Motta got a lot of flack. But if he had players with the right skills and mindset, he had them putting up all star numbers. And he had a lot of them. Jerry Sloan is often mentioned as the right kind of coach the Kings need. Well Jerry learned how to play that way from Motta when Sloan played for him.

PS. This was towards my final years of sharing season tickets. Kids started coming along in 1992 and that was the end of that!

I remember Travis Mays being a decent PG. I believe he was over 6 assists a game, then he just went away. I don't remember who though.. Was it because he got beat out by Sped Webb?

EDIT: Nevermind.. It was 4 assists per game, and he was I guess traded to the Hawks after his first year.
