OK, I will bite. PROVE to me that Aaron Brooks is not an IMPACT player. Seems like everywhere he goes he is the #1 PG unless he is backing up a HOFer.

I am pretty sure I said impact player at the position of need. Was another scoring guard a position of need?! I think not! We keep on adding players to areas where there is not a clear or an urgent need at the expense of addressing areas that are more urgent.

I would have thought a scoring guard would have been a long way down the list of needs considering all the guards that we have on the roster that love to score and in a lost of cases, it is the only thing they do.

Yet we still haven't found a rim protector and we still have not found an impact player at the position that has been a revolving door ever since Artest was traded to Houston. I would have thought that smart move would have been to go get a clear upgrade and an impact player at SF. Then get that rim protector that our own GM was talking about at the end of the season and them look to add another PG and more shooting.

Brooks is an impact player but not at the position of need. There are only so many minutes to be had in the back court and that would have been the last place to add an impact player. Especially considering that 2 out of our 3 best players are guards.

I had no intention of making any further posts for a while. I had decided to leave the fourm, at least to get a breath of fresh air. Maybe permantly. But your excellent post fresh out of the oven, demands an immediate response from me. So let me start by saying that I don't disagree with one thing you just stated. And I don't deem what you said as negative. Quite the opposite, it was well thought out and intelligently writen. You see, my post wasn't about what a persons says as much as it was about how its said.

Its about in a small sense, civility, and being informative. You didn't just make a blanket statement about a move, or a move maker, you gave your opinion, and then backed that opinion with intelligent reasons. I will never have a problem with that. I do take small umbrage with referring to me as a fence sitter. I do reserve complete judgement until I see the results, but I have on many occasions voiced my less than favorable position on a move when its originally made. I just don't condemn it at that early stage. I happen to do that, based on past personal experiences. In other words, I've been burned by not giving someone the benefit of the doubt, and by not being given that benefit of doubt.

In short, many folks are posting out of anger. Anger at the Maloofs, and anything that happens to be associated with them. Which is a big circle. I guess the best way of putting it, is the collateral damage from the Maloofs covers a large area. Some of it perhaps unwarranted. I understand the anger! I feel it myself, but its nonproductive. There are many times on this fourm where a post angers me, and 99% of the time, I force myself not to respond till later, after the anger passes. Its the other 1% that gets me in trouble and left me apologizing for what I posted. I try never to offend anyone, which is impossible, but I try. Anyway, excellent post. I wish everyone that posted was as thoughtful. Adios...

I genuinely hope that your absence is not permanent. You add a great deal to the board and would be a great loss.

There are only two PG's on the Kings that should be in the regular rotation. Brooks and IT. Jimmer is not ready. Reke is a 2. Thornton is a 2. 5 guards is not an excessive amount. I would have liked to have Calderon, but his contract does not fit. And would he want to come here?

As for SF there is JJ, Salmons, Outlaw, Cisco and Honeycutt. I hope JJ works out and Outlaw finds his game again. These guys are not All Stars. Two of them have played very well in the NBA and two could develop as they are very young. I'm hoping one of these players breaks out this year. I would have loved to have Iguodala, but his is a big $ contract and why would he come here? AK47 was offered a nice deal to come here last year, did he come?

As for a rim protector who is available? OKC is not turning loose of Ibaka. Dalambert, why did Houston jettison him? Marc Gasol is firmly entrenched in Memphis. Don't even mention Dwight Howard.

Just because we Fans want a player does not mean the player wants to be here or his team is willing to trade for what Petrie offers.

The Kings cannot build through Free Agency as the Lakers do, the cost is too high. The Kings must draft well, make crafty trades and sign second tier Free Agents to build around the IMPACT players they draft.

As on the grading thread I give the Kings a C+ so far this off season. But its only the first semester and other moves could be made.

I prefer to be a glass is half full kind of guy. I also don't dwell in the past. If we disagree then fine, lets disagree like gentlemen and move on.

Glad you decided to stay...you're one of the few reason why I still stick around. I enjoy your take both with college players as well as the NBA. Enjoy the sunset.
You critics but yet kept yourself grounded while others here glowed like a nuclear blast (as in I'm better than GP/Smart because i could of done this or that better). Even when I somewhat agree, they tend to be a little obnoxious.

Bookmark it! Kirilenko is staying with CSKA Moscow for at least another season. He is not coming back to the NBA especially not for the $2.4 million (pre-tax) when he can play in Europe for 3 million euros (after tax). He has said that he wants to win the Euroleague title with CSKA and considering their new additions, Krstic staying and a new coach in Ettore Messina, he is not going to walk away from all that AND take a HUGE pay cut to go with it. Warriors are delusional if they think he will sign with them for that money.

So now that he has officially signed with the Wolves all those poor chickens had to die for nothing.

And its a massive difference between $2.4 million, $5 million and $10 million per season. The break even point, like I have said many times is around $8 million per season. He got $10 million, or an additional $1 million after tax. Bottom line is that he did NOT take a pay cut to come back to the NBA. He got a pay increase if you do the maths.
