An extra prayer or two

I am hoping for an extra prayer or two - my stepson was diagnosed with Leukemia at the beginning of this month. The doctors have said that the Leukemia was caused by radiation exposure.

He is 29 years old, married to a wonderful girl who is due with their second child in November. Their son is 9. Matt served in the Army for nearly 9 years the last of which was a year in Iraq. He's been home a little more than a year.

He's been in the hospital since diagnosis and will probably be there for a long time to come. He's undergoing all kinds of treatments in prep for a Bone Marrow Transplant down the line. Yesterday was the first good news that we have had - his blood levels have started to raise.

Anyway my avitar is a picture of him and his family. Please keep him in your prayers!

Thanks,
Tree

You've got our prayers too, and a happy story. Two years ago a good friend was similarly diagnosed and treated. It was a tough road, but he is now very healthy and happy. I wish your stepson a speedy recovery and hope to see him at ARCO someday soon, CHEERING FOR THE KINGS!!! :D

I will pray for you and your family. This past weekend my own family threw a huge fundraiser for my aunt who has bone cancer. It's the second time it has come back and she is currently going through another bout with chemo. I know how you must feel, and I shall pray for you.

Thank you all so much!! We had good news today and his white count is rising! And Atxrocker I will certainly add your Aunt to my prayers too. I love hearing happy stories Tubiscus and I'm hoping we will soon be one! :)
Thanks again!

bump.

I noticed in your signature, treewoman, that you've got a link to a site that people might want to check out.

www.iraqradiation.com

I'm continuing to keep Matt and your family in my prayers.

(And thoughts and prayers for your aunt, atxrocker.)

Thanks VF! I have a lot of news on the web site - not just for my step son but for anyone with family in Iraq. Apparently there are quite a few of our soldiers coming home with chromosome damage and for many they are resulting in cancers. If any of you have family, friends, etc in the military (or who have been in the military and spent time in Iraq) please encourage them to get to the VA as soon as they can and get the "Gulf War Exam". The chromosome damage is not showing up for most of these kids until one to one and a half years after they return home. Please help spread the word, their lives may depend on it.

I checked out your site, treewoman. Very nicely done and extremely informative. Thank you!!

Also, my prayers continue for Matt and your entire family. I pray that a bone marrow donor match is found soon.

I'll continue the prayers too, treewoman.

I have a friend who was a bone marrow doner for her brother. (Out of a family of 13..she was the only match.) Something I never thought of...now he has her immune system...he used to have really bad allergies, but now has none since she doesn't have any!

I'm bumping this so people who may not have seen it might read it. Please take a moment and check out www.iraqradiation.com This isn't about politics or whether or not you support the war or anything like that. It's about a medical condition that some of our troops are returning home with that they need to be tested for.

Please help spread the word. And keep Matt and treewoman and their family in your prayers.
