An encouraging article on rebuilding

Me? Not really. I think Kmart was a fantastic bargain for a very late first rounder. Should have been somewhere around #4 or $5. But Durant was #2 in a deep year, and would have been #1 in most years, and I don't consider him a 100% sure thing as their franchise player. Maybe Martin will round out his game enough to become that guy for us, but probably he won't. Either way, great draft pick.

But if Geoff could get as good a bargain on a #12, instead of a #26, then we might be talking. And that most rebuilds are done within 3 years is good news.

Similar success stories have brewed in Atlanta, Boston, Orlando, Philadelphia, Toronto, New Orleans, Utah and Washington. Those franchises have used a blend of trades, the draft and free-agent signings to evolve from afterthoughts to playoff contenders.

Only two out of the nine teams play in the West. And Both Utah and NO got their speedy rebuild mainly by drafting all-world PG with their high lottery picks.

In order words, if we draft Derrick Rose this year then we'll probably turn this baby around in two years.

Encouraging indeed ;)

You better pray to the god of bouncing balls or its not going to happen.
