Sure, the differences in these two situations are much greater than the comparisons. But there is one salient connection boogie sat on the precipice of demanding the first $200 million contract for A Supermax. Should Fox make the All-Star ballot? There’s a very good chance that he’s gonna hold up the Kings for a super Max contract the kind of ticket that in both cases, other teams would be very reluctant to take back in a trade scenario so you kinda have to decide now. Are you gonna be all in with this guy or you gonna cut your losses? I’m not saying cutting loose fox is the right thing to do. That’s Monty‘s job. What I am saying is that unless you’re 100% certain you want to pay him a super max salary selling him now while the stock is high is not a bad idea. In the same way, I hated seeing boogie go, and I’m not sure that ever was the right idea, but I really understood that if they didn’t move him before the trade deadline, they were gonna be paying him a King’s ransom and he would be unmovable.
Obvious PR stunt to wash his hands of the firing that he played a major role in but it did also show he wasn't onboard with the future we were building.in hindsight it must have been sealed when he went to dinner with Mike Brown.

The Rockets will not be pursuing De'Aaron Fox at the deadline, team sources tell @KellyIko.

Houston's front office is pleased with the growth of its young roster and intend to ride the team's current momentum into the postseason

Someone needs to drug test this man. This is the worst trade proposal I’ve ever seen in my lifeWho says no?

Spurs get: De’Aaron Fox
Kings get: John Collins, Collin Sexton, two firsts
Jazz get: Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter, two firsts, two seconds
Sacramento could want proven players in package for Fox, so a three-way trade makes sense. pic.twitter.com/iNknEgdri5
KOC remains a waste of air lol
If San Antonio lands Fox and Houston doesn't even put up an offer and SA leapfrogs them (and they will with or without Fox) LMFAO.The Rockets will not be pursuing De'Aaron Fox at the deadline, team sources tell @KellyIko.

this was the Kings think in two years ago and now look where we are
I tend to agree with you. I don’t think any team will pay him that kind of money except the kings but historically, we know the Kings will overpay and he will get it if he stays. I think the kings can use their money and much better ways and probably net back Some decent value. Unlike a lot of posters, I do not have a crystal ball. I can’t say with 100% certainty anything will or should happen. I just look at probabilities and think that he is unlikely to be much better than he is now which is a top point guard in the league, but not the guy that puts the team on his back and wins when the chips are down night after night after night.Fox is good, but he's not super max good.
I'm pretty cool with shipping him out. I just hope he doesn't "Klutch" us out of a good return.
I guess Monte and the Rockets GM really are Morey guysIf San Antonio lands Fox and Houston doesn't even put up and offer and SA leapfrogs them (and they will with or without Fox) LMFAO.
Good pointAlso, all these fans annoy the hell out of me. How many of them have been bashing Fox all year and are now clutching their pearls about the sheer thought of trading Fox?

It doesn’t need to be replaced. It needs to be recreated in the aggregate. https://t.co/BtVTLGtiVT pic.twitter.com/fTShbsDrma

Whether you love Fox or believe they’d be better off without, if the man wants a trade you make a trade.

Preferred destination is irrelevant.
You get the max you can from the place you can.
But you better get it right.
What about a three team deal with Chicago where we land Lavine and 3 first round picks if we don’t like the young players the Spurs have?
Even with his speed currently, he’s always going to be limited with our current roster. We need outside shooting and that just isn’t going to happen with him. He’s also got a laundry list of nagging injuries the last couple of years which really affect his game. He plays in most of the games, but has been ineffective at times and occasionally a detriment. He’s been a favorite of mine, but it’s very clear that he’s not quite as invested as he once was. Couple of years ago, I thought he was going to take us from a surprise seed to a legitimate threat and that he was going to be a superstar. But none of those things have happened. He’s a star, but a couple of rungs below the elite.Another thing that has always scared me about Fox long term … when he inevitably loses that one step his fall-off will be swift.
It’s a few years away, but imagine halfway through a SuperMax he slows down just a little. Loses just a bit of that explosion. He’ll never be the shooter to make up for it
Paul George underwent an MRI and ultrasound, which revealed an injury to the extensor tendon in his left fifth finger.

George’s return to play will be determined in the coming days.
Correctly stated here.... Fox is letting his agent **** things up. If he really would be happy staying in Sac, I don't understand why he's allowing this. To force Monte to make a win-now move at the trade deadline? Doesn't make sense. He is looking to leave. So unbelievably perfectly Kangz that this is happening while the team is playing their best basketball with a roster that has more upside than anything they’ve put on the court in 20 years
— Tony 𝕏ypteras (@TonyXypteras) January 28, 2025
I do give Fox credit for having a preferred trade destination that is entirely basketball related. I too would want to go play basketball with Victor Wembanyama if I were a point guard. Forget this L.A./Miami/New York business. Let's hoop with the big Frenchman in San Antonio.
