Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

I’d move Deebo too
Yeah - from a strictly "on the court" perspective that COULD make sense, but if the Kings were to trade away arguably the biggest name player to ever want to join the Kings after half a season I don't think that would go over well with any other players or agents looking at the Kings down the road.

I’ve been a big Fox fan, but trading him would probably be the best way to balance our roster. Fox always had issues with being locked in, you would question if his heart was in it, can’t really say that about any other supermax player.

The good thing with Monk as the lead guard, you never have to question if he is giving it his all. He will always be 100% locked in. He may not be as talented as Fox, but he is a pretty good player maker with near elite vision and amazing chemistry with Domas, hyper athletic as well, and a really good three point shooter.

if trading Fox gets us starting big next to Sabonis with someone that can come off the bench too, I think we would be a better team.

Someone posted earlier Fox for Collins/Castle/Sochan, and I wouldn’t hate that. Probably too much to give up for Spurs though. A Sochan and Murray defense, that can guard 1-4, is pretty interesting.

San Antonio reporter saying that Fox was deciding between SA and Miami.
This is so weird to be honest... he's deciding which single team he would like to be traded to if he gets traded otherwise he'll stay in sac? Why would he need to decide between SA and Miami? Why not just say he'd prefer one but open to either.... a lot of this is likely media running crazy with rumors.

I'd think we need his scoring punch if Fox leaves.

OTOH, he tends to slow the offense down with his ISO game. Domas and Monk might be able to really slice and dice defenses if we get some slashers and shooters back from DDR and Fox trades.

Monte has a lot to cogitate over!
I think we can keep DDR for at least the next year if we ship Fox. Maybe he ultimately goes to the bench, maybe we move him, I do like him in clutch time if Fox is gone and he'll be a perfect expiring asset in two seasons.

I will say, I would be incredibly conflicted if Chris Paul somehow ended up coming here if it’s the Spurs. I’ve strongly disliked (to put it mildly) him for eons and rooting for him would be extremely difficult. Hope it doesn’t happen.
CP3 and Deebo getting the Kings over the hump all at once would be hilarious lmao

I think that ship has likely sailed until we win on a higher level. I’m not necessarily advocating for Lavine but DLo said the kings have some level of interest in him. If you can move deebo to the Spurs with Fox they could send Vessell to the Bulls. We could still make a trade for Cam

Monk Devin
Lavine Keon
Cam
Keegan
Sabonis

some bench pieces prob coming back from the Spurs

Get your swap back and have at least one or Two extras first rounders to play with after a cam trade

The wording appears to be De’Aaron was trying to choose between the two and settled on SA.

Too much for the Spurs? I'd demand at least that AND some FRPs.

Honestly the Spurs don't have anything I want (beyond Wemby of course) so I think there would have to be a lot of draft capital involved.

Castle and Sochan can't shoot. They also can't play together. Their on/off splits when they share the court are abysmal. No thank you.

I am sure plenty is rumor but there are always 3 teams that made sense. Houston is Fox's hometown, Recee is from San Antonio, Bam who was part of his Kentucky crew and he may actually be closer to than Monk is in Miami. And all three just happen to be tax havens.

If the Kings trade Fox it finally opens up a starting spot for Keon - who still has absurd advanced metrics that scream that he needs court time. I'd rather keep DDR than trade for LaVine. That seems like a lateral move that costs assets and reputation to make.

Full disclaimer: I also just don't like LaVine's game at ALL. Combine that with the salary and injury risk and it's a big no from me. Besides, the time to trade for LaVine was last season when he was pretty much viewed as a negative asset due to his albatross of a deal. Now Chicago will want actual pieces for him. No thanks.

I hope it’s not all about money, but, whatever this is about, it really sours me on him. This is the best team he’s had his entire career, and instead of giving us one shot at the playoffs he’s pushing out now?

Honestly smacks of fear that a deep run will make it harder for him to ask out. And maybe a thought that going somewhere like the Spurs and getting better coverage ups his odds of all-NBA super max

Most times I don’t fault players or teams for wanting to move on, but for someone making $32mm per with $165mm guaranteed any time he wants, and a friend playing with him on a discount deal, it it’s like - really??? There’s nothing in the world he can’t afford and that’s what matters to him anyways. Good luck out there.

Not having Fox or Haliburton would just be embarrassing, sorry. I don’t like it. None of these trade scenarios sound good to me
I don’t get why it would be embarrassing. We traded one of them for an All-NBA center, the most important guy on the roster (yes, way more than Fox himself), then the other one went full Klutch and will likely return a decent return.

This isn’t KINGS GONNA KINGS. We’re in a great spot here.
