If we drug this out until the next deadline I wonder what would happen. For now Fox is letting Klutch be the bad guy. I bet he never gets that nasty but I also bet we move on before it can.
Fox isn’t our best player, it’s Domas. Fox is a great player and can be unbelievably great when he wants to be. But therein lies some frustration amongst fans. It’s that when he wants to be part, it just doesn’t happen consistently.
Monk isn’t quite the player Fox is, but he’s a better shooter and a better playmaker. He fits better and is certainly a capable guard. A lot hinges on what we get in return. It should be a haul. He’s one of the best point guards in the league overall and we need to take advantage of that.
gotcha. Like I had said in my initial post I was seeing the signals we might hit this. The highly visible Paul with the FO Laker game was when I started to really feel a sense or urgency, firing Brown really reignited the team though. I bet the hope of the Klutch camp was the team moved Fox amidst a losing streak.
The minute Domas got on the court Fox was different. I saw it and I was not someone who was initially excited about Domas until that moment. It's probably also why he wants to go play with Wemby who he sees as an upgrade and also someone that he can play a clear #2 to.
Domas is also rumored to be the entire reason Brown took the job.
I'm pretty sure in hindsight Domas turned this franchise around more than any coach did. I think we can still build a winner* with what we have if we have to move on.
*probably not a world championship winner, but a consistent playoff threat the likes we have only seen once in Sac history.
I know the skies seem dark, but I just don’t have this feeling of incoming dread like I have with a bunch of other stuff that’s happened with this team.
Fox is a very good player. I don’t think he’s irreplaceable though. It certainly won’t be on the shoulders of a single guy. This isn’t a DMC situation where the only reason we won games is because of the guy we’re trading away. Even without Fox this is a talented team.
Monk maybe but he loves Sac. Understandable if Fox leaving sours him, but at the same time that’s Fox giving him the middle finger as much as anything (assuming Fox is asking out)
Domas no way, he’s very happy here, and him being from PDX with a wife from LA and a very nice homestead in Napa I think it’s close to 0% he’d try to get out if we got a haul back for Fox and remained competitive
besides Domas was the guy the current FO went all in, Fox could have sour feelings from previously shopping him that wouldn’t be there with Domas

I will say again that Fox is my favorite player we ever drafted. I was a Boogie fan too. Fox may have won us some games we would have lost but he doesn't do that on 2017-2022 era Kings. He almost certainly makes a good team better. Maybe a whole lot better. But he can't really win with a bad team the way the top 5-10 players in the league right now can.
Man, I’m shocked. I never thought he would request a trade. Well, it is what it is I guess. Try to get some wings and picks and charge ahead. I think this team minus Fox plus good rotation pieces can still be a playoff team.
Yep. But in the off chance they wanted to, they’re pieces we could actually get assets for as opposed to when we traded boogie but had absolutely nothing else to unload for a rebuild.

Sure, the differences in these two situations are much greater than the comparisons. But there is one salient connection boogie sat on the precipice of demanding the first $200 million contract for A Supermax. Should Fox make the All-Star ballot? There’s a very good chance that he’s gonna hold up the Kings for a super Max contract the kind of ticket that in both cases, other teams would be very reluctant to take back in a trade scenario so you kinda have to decide now. Are you gonna be all in with this guy or you gonna cut your losses? I’m not saying cutting loose fox is the right thing to do. That’s Monty‘s job. What I am saying is that unless you’re 100% certain you want to pay him a super max salary selling him now while the stock is high is not a bad idea. In the same way, I hated seeing boogie go, and I’m not sure that ever was the right idea, but I really understood that if they didn’t move him before the trade deadline, they were gonna be paying him a King’s ransom and he would be unmovable.
