Knicks drafted Porzingis. Before the draft I only knew that he was very tall, very long, could shoot, could run and jump. In his second year with the Knicks I began to wait for the Knicks games. I had good time watching Pacers playing well under McMillan. Though from Chicago, to watch any New York team play is like a blasphemy, but in my blood I'm still 100% Lithuanian first. Man, and did Kristaps played :) He is Latvian, Lithuanian little brother "braliukas". Every game would be multiple plays that only KP could pull off. Didn't last long. One bad landing in Milwaukee (paint in the NBA is more like MMA mat) and Unicorn was shot. I was happy to see him recover pretty well. He is a true All-Star, NBA champ, person with integrity. Couldn't play for the Latvian team in the last FIBA WC. Still, all the time was with the team. Anyway, Unicorn disappeared, but an All-Star KP in good health has 10+ good years left in NBA. With the chances to get more jewelry.
Wemby is an Alien. True. Naturally, Earth's gravity is alien to him ;) I hope that nothing bad will happen, but as a thinking person and with a long mileage in sports - plenty of risks out there.

And I'm not saying that those three elements are enough. Castle, ATL 25, ATL 27, and just salary filler is still a failure. The Nets got four completely unprotected picks, a barely-protected pick, and a completely unprotected swap for Mikal Bridges - and it's not like Bojan is a useless player. Fox is a more valuable player in this league than Mikal. I know there are San Antonio fans out there who think they can get Fox for free. If they're not in for a very rude awakening I will be pissed.

I still think they can keep Castle, add another Spurs pick and the pick swap back. The difference is Fox is going to leave. This isn't a Bridges situation since he wasn't basically going to just potentially walk.
 
I'm not ready to give up on Vivek as an owner just yet and, yes, I completely understand that my bias is in play seeing that I, myself, am an Indian.
BUT, if the dude somehow manages to completely screw up what is currently this Fox debacle, the dude can go kick rocks for all I care. And, yes, I do acknowledge that the dude has already screwed up in order to get us here. But I will also acknowledge that he can still make things right.

lmao Hinkie literally perfected the Process and got canned for it go look at what Philly had before he took over. He got them to a championship level team despite the new GM coming in and destroying everything he did.

I doubt it. DeMar was a short term solution anyway. I think the Kings could still give it a go in the interim, but he was always a short term guy anyway. The odd part of his fit with Sac long term might end up being easier. I figured they'd wait out his deal as he fizzled out but now they might be able to get something for him too! Not bad if Fox is a goner.

Yeah, I think the best plan still is to compete for the postseason this year just to get that pick to the Hawks to convey so we have a clean slate on protections. Then we can decide if we want to retool or rebuild in the Summer. This is still doable even without DeMar.

I don’t mean to quibble, but monty has built what I’ve heard fans call the most talented team since the early 2000 kings and they look like they are going to miss the playoffs AGAIN. What is this team working on now? They’ve made the playoffs 1 time in almost 20 years? This guy ain’t it. It’s not hard to see. I just think this poor fanbase has such bottom dweller expectations that any glimpse of sunlight seems like we are living large in the tropics.

I was 12 years old when this team got here. Now at 51 years old I feel like this team is never going to be able to get out of its own way. The late 90’s early 2000 kings were obviously a one off.

I hate being like this. It would just be kinda cool to see the kings doing it right before I kick the can.

Presti got OKC to the Finals the year before Hinkie even started.

Presti took over in 2007 and built the Sonics/Thunder into a finals team in 5 years.

I turned 50 last year so believe me I know.

That's kind of why I'd much rather see a team that can make the 2nd round every year and maybe if teams get injured/stink you get another crack at the WCF and a miracle chip. Basically what the Blazers have been since I got here in 2005.

Where the Blazers failed but OKC succeeded was they tore down a year early before a year too late. We are at this precipice now.

Yeah, but part of that might be his role, the other part is just like with Jason Thompson back in the day. Dude hits a jumper or two and he's the next Chris Bosh according to fans. Keegan is the next Tatum because he dunked one time even though all those other skills just weren't there. He's a good, good player and as long as comps are within somewhat the same reality you'll never be disappointed as a fan.

This is a good point because Wemby is probably done by 30. You never know it's been a long time since a Yao came into the league but you really have to just go for it right away. Especially since he played at a high level in Europe and doesn't need to learn the game the way someone from China or a one or two year college player did.

This is true - there were many rumors that turning it down was 100% because he wanted to go but everyone held onto the cope that it was just super max related. He could sign that super max but it would mean he never sniffs a chip. Just like just about every other player in his class that has signed one. You must be top 5 to actually be worth a super max.
