Yeah, this sounds like the Kings have no interest in a rebuild right now and they shouldn't. They've shown potential w/o Fox already. Enough to commit to them over him at this point anyway. If it doesn't work the path is clear for either building back around Domas/Murray/etc. or rebuilding. In the short term you start testing out what a pick package gets on the open market with your vast supply.

Something like that, the intention there would be that is your base offer and you tell Paul to go beat it elsewhere where Fox wants to go. And you can bet Klutch is doing that but they also went public so they could make our FO look bad and drive down the asking price.

As a baseline to bring to San Antonio, etc. I would imagine there were multiple FRP attached and the point is to just prove they can get 4+ picks and players that will contribute to the team now.

It's clear Fox isn't coming back if the team says they are going to mortgage their future solely to appease him and he still won't sign an extension.

when compared to Sochan who literally can’t shoot at all. Yeah Ingram looks better to me.

Sochan can defend though, which Ingram cannot do. Ingram is also kind of bad at.. you know, getting on the basketball court, which is sort of a problem. Oh and he's a UFA so we get to deal with this madness a year earlier this summer.

If we were forced to trade for only Sochan or Ingram, I'd take Sochan. Not even that close of a decision when you factor in the impending UFA, Ingram's lack of defense and health.

At this point, why would you want to mortgage the future in order to keep him? Best the KINGS have been able to accomplish with him was 48 wins and a first round exit. Despite solid surrounding talent.

If Swipa had helped lead the team to a conference finals appearance at some point in the past, it might make some sense to keep him and re-shuffle the deck to see if you get a more balanced 5. But what is the upside at this point?

It's clear he can't be the alpha dog on a true contender. Which is why he (or his agent) is wanting to join Wemby. Even they are aware of it.

I agree with that decision if it happened. We wouldn't be chasing Collins if not to save Fox. Team just changed coaches and is chugging along nicely, get to the offseason and make a real deal. But Fox's will-he-or-won't-he contract situation is forcing us to pushing half our chips in on a pair of 7s.

not to mention if you are going to be forced to trade Fox then you don’t know what you are getting back and sending players and a first out for Cam now doesn’t make much sense.

I never did. None of the deals we were talking about were worth attaching a FRP to. I'm all for trading Huerter who I consider a 2/3 for someone that is more of a 3/4. Straight up, once you add picks why not just use the picks on that player. They are going to be behind Keegan and DeMar on the bench anyways.

I'd also just say our stupid unserious fan media podbros get excited about any player with a recognizable name entering the block and go all in on them regardless of fit.

I understand your reasoning and don’t wholly disagree but Sochan is a zero on the offensive end so I would take Ingram but it’s not by a wide margin.

Sochan is also cost controlled. Which is a big plus since DeMar and Keegan are our starters.

the problem is with Domas and Deebo you aren’t really in a full rebuild. If you get zero front court help back you are stuck as a playin team and might as well trade Domas and Deebo too.

That was true the first couple years, but he's seen a huge spike in his efficiency this season. 12.9 PPG on 58.6% TS and a 19.7% USG. He's always been a really good secondary wing passer too with an Ast rate north of 13 every year.

Pop was also intentionally using him as their point guard up until this season to lose games lol

just not sure Sochan and Domas fit on the same floor well. With Domas and Deebo you really need someone who can space the floor.

Sochan is your front court defensive help and you can flip a pick for Cam with Huerter.

Not sure the issue.

Well, Sochan wouldn't start right away, Keon would. There's your spacing. Also Domas just becoming an elite spacer this year makes this way less of a problem. And DDR isn't a long-term option, so you wouldn't have to plan the team build around that long-term

Monk-Keon-Keegan-Sochan-Domas works just fine to me. Especially if you can get Keegan to take the offensive leap with a bigger role. And who knows, Sochan's seemingly solved some of his efficiency problems this year. Maybe he learns to shoot in 2 years.
 
James Ham saying that Domas doesn’t make Fox better the way that Allen and Mobley make Donovan Mitchell better.
