I bet the guy is getting a nice bonus once the arena is built. There is no other explanation for his behavior. He is selling the arena issue like a used car salesman selling a lemon to a naive buyer with a AWFUL payment plan. :D
Nice analogy, although completely missing the point, as usual.

No explanation for his behavior? Grant Napear has NEVER hidden his ties to the Kings. He has a talk show on a radio station that boasts it's "The Home of the Kings." And he's part of the broadcast team.

Now, about his "behavior"? He fully supports Measure Q & R. He's saying so. I know you hate it because you hate the measures, but he's entitled to his opinion. He's not distorting facts. Look at that last sentence again. If you want a state-of-the-arts sports and entertainment facility at the railyards, vote yes. If you don't, vote no. That's pretty clear - and not at all ambiguous.

You know, GreenKing, your arguments are getting weaker and weaker. Are you feeling okay?

Great. More irrational rhetoric from the anti-arena crowd.
I guess his bonus is that he gets keep his house instead of having to move to OC or Vegas.

But, on the other hand, a lot of people really want the Reader's Digest condensed version, 1kf. And, for them, Grant did provide a reasonable summary.

I think you're over-estimating the interest most voters have in delving deep into issues. All a lot of them want, and I know this from quite a bit of personal experience, is a very brief summary of the issue at hand... And for those people, the simple response is generally more than adequate.
I am with you on this one. How much time should one spend dissecting $2-3/month anyway?

Well put.

And the poor? Maybe $0.25-0.50 per month, max. For millions of $$$ to go back into your community for whatever needs are most urgent in addition to new downtown sports and entertainment facility. Those poor complaining the loudest stand to gain the most if they just speak out about what projects need funding at city council meetings.

It's a no-brainer. For everyone.

Thanks. Another way that I think about this thing is that every year I pay tens of thousands of dollars in taxes that goes to "who the he** knows." Here is a chance to spend about $35/ year that goes to a concrete, tangible improvement that will benefit me and my fellow residents.

Unbelievable. Grant Napear is a sports entertainer. Not a newsman, but someone who entertains on talk radio with the topic being sports. It isn't his responsibility to be unbiased or tell both sides of the story. He is giving his opinion pure and simple. It is no different than what you might hear from Tom Sullivan, Bill O'Reiley, Al Franken, or any other entertainer on talk radio.

I don't get why anyone would get worked up about a talk show host being "one-sided". Do you read the editorials in newspapers and get upset that they are only giving one side of an argument?

At this point, this discussion isn't really about the arena issue at all any longer. So, for that reason, I'm closing the thread.
