It wasn't that long ago we tried to trade for A.I. and although he shot us down then, times have changed and now he just wants to start... keep in mind that I would only consider A.I. if we land Griffen... otherwise its Ricky Rubio time

Pros-
>Well hes in luck here cause our PG sucks, hes definitely an upgrade over Beno. He might even be a better defender than Beno! So he can come in and play big mins.

>Allen Iverson would be a ticket draw and you know that the Maloofs would be down with that.

>He could be bought at a discount considering his problems and production leading into this summer.

Cons-
>Not a character guy.... "We talk'n bout practice!" could be just what the Dr Ordered to give our new coach a heart attack in his the first year.

>Could be too pricy

>health issues

All in all it would kinda remind me of the Jason Williams days. Right before we got really good.. Jason Williams wasn't a character guy... Not to mention if we landed Griffen signing A.I. could turn us into a playoff team again. Im 60/40 on signing A.I. the key being that its not for alot of years and cheap!!!

Griffen+A.I.= Sellouts again?

iverson isnt a pg and would probably want to play for a contender.... he should go to the spurs.... manu is injury prone and is okay with coming off the bench...

Allen Iverson is getting towards the end of his career, and he will not except a back up role, which is what he very soon will be; a back up. He may be to the back up level already with his recent play. We all knew that once his quickness began to fade that it would be all over for him. That's what he's partly relied on his entire career.

Dear. God. No.

What he said^^

I knew it was only a matter of time before someone made this proposal. I'm going to add a poll for two reasons:

1. Because I can. ;)

2. To see just how many people really think Allen Iverson has anything left to give a young franchise trying to claw its way back to respectability.

I'd be ok with it on these terms

1) He plays PG over Beno
2) He doesn't get in the way of any of the youngsters minutes
3)We do not draft a PG in the draft
4)He's cheap...very cheap...
5)He doesn't half *** it

If those things apply and he helps us get a few more wins then why not.

If "other" means no preceeded by a series of explitives or the like, I meant to vote that way. I actually voted no.

I don't see any rhyme or reason why AI should be considered an option for the Kings at this point.

I love AI. He's the guy I'd love to see everyday. But still I don't want him here. We need the ring not another break down.

I said no also, I'm a big AI fan, but at this point in his career I would rather see him sign with a team that can contend. He wouldnt do us much good and we wouldnt do him much good. Just doesnt seem like a good fit for either party.

J Will was also WAY younger and cheaper. A.I. would reverse anything positive that has happened this year. This would add like another decade to the rebuild. NO THANKS.

This team is set at shooting guard, even for next season. That's what happens when you use your 1st rounder on a 2 guard in 3 consecutive drafts. Kevin Martin is clearly the starter, and Francisco Garcia is money in the clutch, is a better defender and ball handler, and is a great character guy off of the bench. The glaring holes for the Kings next season are at point guard, and back up PF/C.

Knowing that, I don't see how Allen Iverson helps this team markably next season. He is not a true point guard, and would only hurt us if he played shooting guard, both defensively, and limiting our assists/flow. I would much rather take a flier on a rising pass first point guard (read NOT A COMBO GUARD) who can play on ball defense, feed the post, and stretch the defense on occasion with the long ball and a good free throw percentage.

Ramon Sessions has been mentioned as the penultimate free agent point guard signing this summer, along with the miriad of rookie point guards like Rubio/Mills/Lawson/Teague/Maynor/Flynn etc. I wouldn't mind signing Iverson if the Kings draft big men (Blake Griffin/Hasheem Thabeet/Craig Brackins etc.), however, I would hate so see him pout about playing time or take major minutes away from any of the above point guards of the future. The catch-22 is that the Kings do need talent to compete, but will that talent stick around through a rebuild with both their pride, and their age indicating otherwise.

what was positive this year??? Spencer and JT are improving sure... but other than that and hopefully the #1 pick I see nothing positive happening this year.

I kind of understand where you are coming from with the whole "fills seats and is exciting" thing, but in terms of our rebuild he would set us back a little bit. Most of all he would take up 6-10 mil when we could use that money on some young talent that can grow with the team.

1. The development of the youngsters like you mentioned
2. The FO FINALLY committing to the rebuild.
3. We acquired loads of expirings....
4. ....Therefore, freeing up cap space for a FA this summer.
5. Two first rounders and an early 2nd rounder.
6. We got rid of Brad, Mikki, Salmons and the like who were keeping the youngsters on the bench.

You are not looking hard enough.

Not only are you setting this team back, but you are setting it back with a washed-up vet who demands the ball and your money.

Voted other, for NO ****ING WAY.

Just what a young team without a true passing point guard needs; arguably one of the most ball dominating point guards to ever play the game. Dear god... could you even imagine the grotesque scene within Arco?

praktiss... we tolkin bout praktice?????
I say we sign him right away if he agrees to practice

Mon Dieu.

Listen, we're finally rebuilding, and people want to plug it all up with vets and bloated contracts and even more bloated egos. No way.

AI? Nothing positive could come of this.

NO WAY!
Doesn't create for others. Shoots too much, even at this late stage of his career. Too old... and we are rebuilding. Too much of a headache if he doesn't get his way. Won't be a great influence on the young guys. Come to think of it, I can't think of ONE reason to bring him in.

I don't even think he would help the team all that much. Kmart can play SG just as well as AI can at this point in their careers. It's not like he can take a team and make them great anyways. Just ask Detroit or Denver.

AI would just try'n call Iso every play. We need a PG that can toss alley oops to Hawes, JT, and Blake Griffin :D

After watching that lakers game, I'll take any player with heart and AI has that. Before now I cringed at the thought of him as a King but I don't even care anymore. freakn hell.:(

No. This is just a no. Absolutely no point to it, and it actively hurts our future by stelaing capspace, minutes and shots from guys who matter to us. Not even on the radar.

BMiller52--Not even sure if the guy has heart anymore. Sure, everyone can reminisce about his earlier Philly days when he singlehandedly carried that team to the Finals, but now he's ditching his own team, causing a stir, and he's also getting more frequently injured. Not to mention that when he's active, his declining efficiency and shotjacking tendencies will cause problems with many teams. High maintenance in both game and personality. Someone will sign him because he is a name player who may sell tickets, but not us. Not even sure if he's conducive for a championship team, although I think he may fit the Spurs in that they sorely need some sort of offensive punch even if his personality runs parallel to the squeaky clean image of the Spurs

Dear god... could you even imagine the grotesque scene within Arco?

Like more laker fans than kings fans at a home game???

or maybe the Arco crowd screaming "LUUUUUUUUUUU" for luke walton???

yes with A.I. things would be ugly....
----------------------------------------------
I want everybody to know im not pro bringing him in... if we land Griffen and dont draft a PG that can start then we will need to sign somebody cause Beno is not getting it done even for a bad team.

I'll take A.I. 3 years from now over Beno today

first.... what does a point guard do? yes that is right FACILITATE THE OFFENSE!!!! and not hold the ball for so long... thats what iverson is.. the guy would rather keep his ppg up than see the bigger picture... for a small guy he has an ego bigger than any one i have ever seen... i dont want that guy on our team... the guy has and always has been a problem when it comes to discipline... and thats not what we need right now... signing iverson sets us back another half decade...

we already got rid of a blackhole (salmons) and potentially we might sign another one... (mccants) add iverson to the mix and the entire team will be a black hole... and what do blackholes do? yes.... SUCK everything.....

if we are to get a new point guard... its either going to be in the draft.... or via free agency (young guards that is)

sometimes you cant get the right "Answer"
