Allen Iverson - MERGED

Oh lordy -- if people think Iverson is going to come here and make Kevin, or ANYBODY, better, agin, they haven't been watching. This isn't Nash. If Iverson comes, its about what Iverson can do for us. Everybody else will suffer. And that's actually just fine so long as he can take us where we want to get. Just a very real question of whether he can or not. In any case, Kevin and Brad will have to walk that fine line between being patient, and being passive. They'll shoot when and where A.I. and sometimes Ron want them to, not otherwise. Neither is going to average 20. Nor likely even 15. A.I. arriving has never been a good career move for basically anyone, with the possible exception fo Eric Snow who of course notriously did not WANT to shoot. But again, if we could somehow dupe the success fo those 01 Sixers and make it to the Finals on the back of the A.I. show, then its all good. Kevin will just have to make the most of his 10 shots, and Brad the most of his 8.

and here's the key if the kings were to acquire iverson while keeping both miller and martin: both of those players styles cater to being patient and being passive. brad miller isn't assertive by nature. kevin martin isn't assertive because of youth and a lack of experience. at some point, a player like allen iverson could aggravate kevin martin, a rising scorer in this league, but for now, i would think that both miller and martin would be fine deferring to iverson. i'm not saying necessarily that i think that's best for the kings, but i am saying that i think it could work given the proper circumstances and the proper set of players.

I agree. I mean, AI takes 10 more shots than Bibby, so you have to find somewhere for those 10 to come from. I agree with Bricklayer that AI's not going to come in and make people better individually, but put Martin and Miller's unselfishness together with KT not shooting and a (hopefully) more deferential Artest and the mix just might work.

I think if we have to wait until Friday because of Henderson than that really kills a potential deal because that is 3-4 days where another team would know what's up and they could come in and offer a bit better depending on how much they want AI.

Yeah...I think were giving away to much.

I think Garcia has potential..I hope they try to keep him, otherwise our bench is very slim.

I just don't have confidence in our coach handling a player like Iverson.

He already doesn't have an offense and doesn't seem to have a reign on the players ... I just don't see how Iverson would work.

Of course, Iverson could actually make Muss look like a good coach because there is no offense and Iverson would get to play more rec ball.

he has a much better chance than jim o'brien or mo cheeks

If I was him, I'd rather be one of many pieces of the puzzle for a winner than THE piece of the puzzle for a loser.

That'll come after next year, when after restoring some value he should be abel to take a smaller contract to go play the McDyess or Zo role for the contender of his choice.

Williamson, Bibby, Garcia, #1, Hart for Iverson, Ollie, Henderson. He did say that could change because it would not be able to be completed until the 15th because of Henderson. He said he was told that Sacramento was leading all talks right now.

Have people taken leave of their senses? This can't be right. This rumor is pure and utter madness...

That'd be awful.

Would be nice if could swap in a Douby for that #1. Price has shown enough to be the backup combo guard of choice, and Salmons is a steadier Cisco at the moment (although playing alongside A.I. again may turn him right back into the "female private part" that Iverson acused of being).

Best part is though that such a deal is CLEARLY designed around letting us then maintain our suggested Brad/Kevin/SAR/#1 offer for KG! :D Use the rest of the enders to relieve them of Jaric's contract too, and let him start at "PG" ala Snow while moving Iverson back over to OG, where his teams did better.

I am never wrong about these things. Like ever.

Really.

:p

Me neither... doesn't mean it can't work out, but I'd be MUCH more comfortable about it if we still had Adelman. He was great at getting along with the headcase guys. :)

KG, Artest, AI on the same floor...wow, they'd be killing people

Take it for whatever it's worth!! Anybody here Ric Bucher talking about this?

I got this from a Sixers Fan site:

First off, that deal comes from your own head. Not from anything that has been reported. However Ivy to Sac is being talked about because Ric Bucher was on ESPN about 1 hour ago, and said there was discussion regarding a MEGA Ivy to Sac deal. But the players involved, according to Ric were....

Philly sends...

Ivy
Iggy
Dalembert to Sac for

Bibby
Kelvin Martin
Brad Miller
V.Potapenko
And Sac's 1st rounder this year.

That's what Ric said. However Philly is reluctent to deal Dalembert for Miller, who's deal is even longer, and more expensive. And Miller it is said that he may have a lingering injury that might hinder his play the rest of his career. He's already having a horrid season. Sac wants to move Bibby now cause they know he can opt-out of his deal after this season. And he probably will. As much as I may like Bibby, he is in NO WAY a Max player. And if he opts out, he will try to hold us to a new Max extension.

And Bibby's not close to being worth it.

I agree about Garcia and Salmons. I've stated before somewhere here that one of them was likely trade bait. It is the pick along with taking back Skinner Part II (Hunter). Ugh. And, like I've said in this thread (probably a few pages back by now) Iverson on the Kings would be less than ideal.

And between the two of us, who is ever wrong?

Williamson, Bibby, Garcia, #1, Hart for Iverson, Ollie, Henderson.

IF this is the trade that happens, the Sixers' starting five suddenly look somewhat vintage Kings-esque and Philly will finish the season as the better team. That's my totally unscientific, 100% gut feeling, prediction of the day.

I, also, am never wrong about these things.

So essentialy we become Philadelphia...

When you're talking about trading for HOF players averaging 31pts 7ast 2stl, rarely is anything true madness. ;)

Brick
This is a future HOF who is very likely never going to see an NBA ring. And there are reasons for that. Those facts stand right beside his Hall of Fame numbers. Give me Steve Nash, Jason Kidd or Tony Parker anytime. Their related skills make their team better. Just can't say that for AI. He's never been the answer, even when he scores 60.

I guess time will tell, eh? If the Kings gamble the dice will come up snake eyes. Just a feeling. HOF or otherwise...

That's also why another fellow who will never get a ring is that ball hog, Kobe Bryant.

Oh, wait...
