Being under the cap, Philly can get rid of Iverson for a very cheap return in terms of contracts...

I didn't know about the 29 hometown papers but I'm actually quite nervous that the Bee isn't covering this plus they haven't commented on it, especially since Sacramento has been dangled around in the media frequently.

This should really help getting us a new arena. Eventhough we are selling out Arco, AI would get lots of people watching us and buying more Kings merchandise. ;)

This trade, like the Artest deal, would have made more sense in 2003 rather than today, back when Webber was still on top of his game. It was painfully obvious then that we needed a guy like Artest/AI to really push us over the top. Today, what's the point? Another trade that helps us be pretty good, as opposed to lottery bound or great. I'd rather play out the season, probably drop into the lottery, let Bibby walk, and really restock the shelves with some young talent. This is THE year to take your lumps, because the draft is loaded.

Fox40's broadcast last night mentioned the A.I trade talks and the potential teams involved, but no mention of the Kings.

Is the silence "deafening" or is it intriguing? NO mention of Iverson whatsoever really sends up flags IMHO.

They have to be thinking about it.

Some sort of AI / Bibby swap is too interesting not to consider.

AI would put some butts in the seats for sure. The question is, is there a championship route in the next 5 years that goes with Iverson coming for 2 years? I suppose after Iverson has gone you can use his salary to sign another star, but what if you just extend your rebuilding without creating a championship level team in the mean time?

It's an interesting question.

The question isn't whether or not the King are thinking about it because they'd be total fools not to at least consider it. The question I'm raising is WHY hasn't the Bee said anything?

I may have the answer. Think about how poorly Bibby has been playing. To air the fact that we may be interested in Allen would only hurt Bibby mentally after all the years he has given us. If we are interested, as we should be, then it makes no sense to make that information public. Because in the event that we don't land Allen, then how would Bibby feel knowing we were ready to get rid of him.
 
Iguodala and Martin... I don't know. They are two rising stars, one is a shooter and one is a scorer. Iguodala is more of the highflyer type... he can dunk, grab rebounds, and is younger than Martin. Iguodala is probably the better all-around player, and MIGHT have more potential.

Miller for Dalembert... getting younger and bigger in the center. Sam is a pretty good blocker, but I'd like to keep Miller if we got Iverson, he would create a lot of open shots.

Bibby for Iverson... I say do it. Iverson has more points, more assists... I think we could turn Iverson into a better team player here in Sacramento. Iverson has shown flashes of being a great playmaker, plus he is an allstar point guard who is as tough as nails.

I don't like it at all. I'm not in favor of giving up Martin. A pick? Ok, maybe. But not Martin.

Do the Kings really want to be Philly west + Artest?

Also, I'm not as high on Iguodala as some people. The guy just hasn't gotten better. Everyone keeps saying he's a rising star. Don't you think he needs to start actually, you know, rising at some point?

Good grief.. the last one is basically switching most of our players for most of theirs... at that point we would have almost in succeeded in exchanging teams! I'm a very faithful Kings fan, and I consider myself a Kings fan more than a player fan, but if I was watching a game in Arco & Webb, Bibby, Miller and Martin were playing AI, Iguodala, & Dalembert, I'd have trouble cheering for the "Kings"!

i can't see geoff trading kevin martin. the kings have invested a lot of time into developing the young man, and while he's slumped a little as of late, its clear that he is gonna be something special in this league.

as for bucher's supposed trade rumor...its just plain ridiculous. iverson, iguodala, and dalembert? whether philly fans like to admit it or not, that's their team's core. i've never seen three core players from two teams get swapped like that. throw in the fact that we already have kenny thomas and john salmons, and you really are talking about the 76ers west. and considering that it hasn't been a winning formula for the sixers, i have a hard time believing that geoff would touch a trade like that.

I would go crazy if that happened, I'd give up bibby and filler (maybe corliss) for iverson, but def not miller and martin, who are both better than iggy/dally

it wouldn't surprise me. in general, it wouldn't surprise me if any losing team out there started inquiring about rick adelman's coaching status. i remember adelman saying that he wanted his son to graduate from high school before he started thinking about leaving sacramento. so, if he's unavailable this year, i imagine some team will try to pick him up next year. i don't think adelman has ever indicated that he wanted to retire, so after he takes a year off, i bet he'll be ready to coach again.
 
Buff.. I'd be OK with Bibby+Miller+Garcia+Potapenko+#1 for Iverson+Iguodala+Dalembert, but give Martin... I'd prefer Bibby+Artest+Miller for Iverson+Iguodala+Dalembert and take out of the deal Martin and the 1st pick.

This seems like pure fantasy. If Petrie gives up our draft pick for this I'll concede he has lost it. I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's been gearing up for this off season with expiring contracts and a potential lottery pick in a rich draft with a highly touted grand prize and was willing to sacrifice the season to get there. This move smacks of early season desperation and is completely out of character for Petrie. I'm not buying it for a minute but if it happens I'm selling GP.

Just because they will never be on the same level of AI gives them no right to talk about him? Ok, I'll agree to disagree because I will not get all bent out of shape over who says what.

It's not the first time that Iverson's shown a lack of commitment. He missed a mandatory team function less than 2 weeks ago. Also missed the last game of the season(as did Webber)

I'm also concerned about the lack of Bee coverage: If the Maloofs were really interested in an AI/Bibby deal, they would have said something by now. They're just not as tight-lipped about these things as Petrie is.

And the Bee cares about this, why??? they're there to sell newspapers, they don't care about the team.
 
Right. You would have thought that it would have made today's NBA beat, for example, even if Kings management won't comment.

That last trade is so extreme as to either be purest of fantasy, or the biggest blockbuster in years.

Is a certain logic to it though:

1) the Sixers can then immediately toss Mo Cheeks and hire Rick Adelman along with Coachie to coach a pretty decent version of the Kings. Korver becomes Peja.

2) It would be us going all in for an "Iverson style" team, where we went for a lineup of 100% hustling defensive players to surround Iverson with ala the 2001 Sixers. Eliminates the whole Iverson squelching the other offensive players angle, as the only other offensive players are Ron as the #2 and SAR as the 6th man. Meanwhiel we would have managed to accumulate 50% of the lineup of those oh-so-awesome .500 2004 76ers (Iverson, Iggy, Dalembert, Thomas, Corliss, Salmons). Then thrown in Artest and SAR on top. And given away our #1 pick potential star because Geoff doesn' like to draft those guys.

The first one makes no sesne because I cannot imagine where/how Stephen Jackson is going to be involved -- nobody wants to touch him wiht a 10 foot pole and yet somebody is going to get him to replace either A.I. or Bibby?
