First I have heard about us shopping Bibby.

I don't know. From a talent standpoint you have to do it, but I am personally going to hate to see Bibby go. I think if the Maloofs, Petrie, and Musselman really want Iverson, "The Answer" will be in a Kings uniform sometime next week. We have assets I don't think many other teams can compete with and enough in the bank to not have lost much talent wise.

I mean as long as you are gambling and screwing over the future might as well go all in and try to patch the great need. Heaven knows that there is absolutley no point in making such a move unless it results in a title run, so better patch the holes while you can and roll the dice. Go investigate Foyle as well. Huh...never liked his game really but like someone said, slashers are more valuable than ever right now. And I'm starting to consider Bibby as sort of a bloated contract hard-to-move guy. I haven't been feeling the magic lately. I'd do that straight up I think, don't see how it could make the team worse. I wouldn't expect him to have a problem with Artest any more than anyone, I'd expect a lot of that warrior style mutual respect stuff. (optimism, maybe)

Of course it wouldn't be a one for one trade so who knows. But in general, the disgruntled star asking for a trade scenario is one of the few times when you can hope to maybe pick up something great without losing too much. I.E. I don't really like Vince Carter either, but he's been great for the Nets and they didn't give up much for him if I recall. Its worth exploring the idea I think, even if AI isn't really my first fantasy choice of stars I'd like to pick up.

But the problem for the Pacers is that unless they want to get rid of O'Neal they would have a hard time getting the contracts to add up. They'd have to get the Sixers to take Steven Jackson.. Foster? Some more? The Kings have the expirings, Shareef, Francisco, Douby...

Foye is a good centerpiece but otherwise the Wolves have nothing (not even a pick in the upcoming draft), Denver has Miller but would need Philly to take someone like Nene...

I could see Boston with Ratliff/Delonte/Allen and maybe the Clips, but I odn't know, if the Maloofs/Petrie want this I like our odds.

Never liked him (AI), but the last couple years have shown we aren't going anywhere without major changes.

If nothing else, it would qualify as a major change....

I'd do Bibby/Hart/Pot or Taylor for AI/Ollie/Hunter.. picks would probably be involved, but I'm not sure where.

Only thing that would have to be put out there - AI can't and wouldn't dominate the ball like in Philly. Much different situation with different and more capable players. As it would be possibly elsewhere, on a team with a main guy or two/all-star-types already there.

Then maybe even try and trade Brad for Camby.

I think this AI stuff will be similar to the Artest situation like last year. As in, lots of teams will get into it, AI won't be playing (I would think), and basically all trades are halted till AI is dealt. He also most likely won't be going to an East team. If so, it's only a few that would be realistic.

Ultimately I see him going west...

I'm not quite all over trading for AI like I was for Artest - but it is indeed an interesting possibility.

I can see him going to the Grizzlies/T'Wolves/maybe Nuggets...

I don't think Ron/AI would clash or it'd be risky. At least not too risky . But, I lean towards the former.

Ron would of had to play with Kobe or Brand/Cassell or LeBron or T-Mac/Yao or KG or Wade/Shaq or Baron Davis/maybe J-Rich if he was traded to one of those teams, and said he would be fine playing with those guys - rightfully so. I don't think it'd be different with Iverson.

And of course we have managed to retain the core pieces necessary to execute the of so intriguing KG for Kevin/Brad idea floated on here last week. We can even throw in our pick.

So you wait for Garnett to blow up next, scoop him up, and storm the league with:

PG- Iverson

Well, it's not like I was sitting around dreaming up scenarios for how we could get AI in a trade before this came up, but now that I think about it, it does seem like just the right atmosphere for something like this to happen. The Kings just lost their fifth game in a row. Three of those loses came with Mike Bibby missing shots at the buzzer. (Not that significant in the long run, but you know, "what have you done for me lately" and all) There is again some buzz about the loyal Sacramento crowd losing interest. Bibby's probably opting out at the end of the year (even looking at it conservatively, it's got to be at least a 50% chance). The media attention this would bring to the Maloofs and Sacrmanento would be huge, and coincide with David Stern's public commitment to negotiating with the city of Sacramento for a new arena.

As for team chemistry, the Kings have looked awful on offense and not much better on defense so far this year. AI for Bibby is an improvement on D, AI is consistently among the league leaders in steals and he's quick enough to stay in front of his man if he wants to. And on offense, there may be no greater creator in the league with the ball in his hands than AI. Since we seem to be playing 1 on 1 right now anyway, might as well get a guy who can break guys down, force the defense to rotate to comensate, and find the open man. Bibby does it a half dozen times a game -- AI can do it every time down the floor. I don't think Artest would complain when he gets easier looks, and Kevin fills in the Kyle Korver role. I doubt Philly takes Kenny Thomas back, but he's an adequate role-player/rebounder at the 4 anyway. Really the only real problem I see is John Salmons finally getting out of Philly only to have AI follow him to Sac and haunt him some more. Could get ugly. Or, Salmons could help lead a second unit with Ronnie Price so he doesn't have to share the floor with AI for long. Probably wishful thinking that. Or maybe Salmons was more bothered by the (notoriously crabby) Philly fans than AI himself? There couldn't be a better contrast than the Sacramento fans and the Philly fans. Almost exact opposites (except for that whole Webber booing thing, but you know, you miss 15 shots in a losing effort and people get a little edgy)

Lets send them back the garbage they sent us. Bibby, Corliss, and K9 for Dalembert and Iverson. Only about a mil and a half difference...maybe send Hart for a pick to make up the change. If that worked then we finally would make up for the Webb situation. Basically we lost bibby and webber for AI and Dalembert. That is a even trade in my opinion.

Well if we were to get A.I., it wouldn;t be rebuild mode, it wouold be "win now" mode. Not that I think such a move is truly feasible, but I;ve seen A.I. and Salmons together and it was not good. Meanwhile A.I. is a short term win now streategy, Bonzi is an impact 30 yr old. Would fit right in. He's also got an ending contract (effectviely) so we'd be free to go whatever direction next summer.

yeah, think that's what that meant. Just too public a spat. And a guy of Iverson's caliber only hits the trade wires once every couple of years as a rule, at best, so not as if the Sixers will have to go fishing for offers. They can afford to sit him for a few days over the weekend while they finalize whatever its going to be.

I would've taken that bet. He was on the tarmac bound for Detroit back in 2000, but Geiger's trade kicker nixed the deal. Philly has probably shown restraint in keeping him for this long, truth be told.
