Al Jefferson relocating to Sacramento??

The #5 pick is too steep a price to pay for AJ. Yahoo Sports said that Kahn is asking way too much for AJ.

"Kahn has tried to assure agents he’s going to move Jefferson before the season, but it won’t be long until he realizes how little value his power forward has with such an expensive contract and a reconstructed knee. The Wolves have two power forwards, Jefferson and Kevin Love(notes), who don’t complement each other, and no center."

IMO we now have a center that compliments him very well. Big Sammy can hang-out and get the boards off Big Al's misses. Big Sammy can also block the shots of guys getting into the lane from our porous defense.

If Cousins and Favors are both gone and we can convince Kahn to give us AJ and either #23 or #16, id say pull the trigger. but AJ for #5 straight up is too risky in my opinion.

It would have to be the #16 if we want one of the following:

Whiteside
Aldrich
George
Orton

Would be very nice to get a project big man to backup at center. Or if George slips down, he would be very interesting.

Al J is overpaid considering the current economic climate of the league. He also had knee surgery not too long ago and who knows how long it'll hold up. 4 more years left on his contract.... NO THANKS.

we also need some rebounds on this team...
Actually, our rebounding is just fine. Middle of the pack if I remember correctly. And...Jefferson is a solid rebounder, much better than Landry, who I presume will be starting if we don't make any more additions/alterations to our front court before next season.

This too risky thing is too far. The draft is the risk. A far greater risk than a well proven 20-10 guy. That's the whole reason moves like this are made -- to minimize the risk of the team trading for the vet.

This wasn't microfracture peeps. It was an ACL. He missed all of 30 games with it and was back on the court within 8 months. He played all but 6 games last year. He's still only 25.

Whether its the right move or not, particularly if we don't send back salaries and eat up our capspace with it, is a debate. But assuming a 25 year old 20-10 PF will step out on the court for you and be a 20-10 PF is vastly less risky than assuming that Cousins will keep his head on and do so, Favors will develop and do so, Monroe will morph into an entirely different player and do so etc. Jefferson is the bird in the hand -- you know what you have with him. And it should be noted ust as an aside thaty the last time we got good it was when we traded for a 25yr old PF with a rap sheet and injury woes, who had missed an entire season with a bum shoulder, bailed on his first idiot coach etc. Jefferson << Webb, but he's still a known entity in comparison.

He is also, despite reports to the contrary, a PF. In all his years in this league who is the single best true center he has played with? It might be Darko (Perkins was just a kid when he was there). Everybody else has been terrible. Put him next to a true center and let him defend players his own size and see how it goes. Not to mention putting him in an organized defensive system on a team that has a chance to win. I'm not sure Tim Duncan would have looked like much on some of those 15-20 type win messes he has been mired in.
I gotta agree with you on Jefferson's defense. I think his purported lack of it is exaggerated. I wouldn't call him a great defender, but he's certainly not a bad defender. He would automaticly be the best shotblocker on the Kings. He averaged 1.7 blocks the season before being injured.

You know I don't necessarily agree that Jefferson and Love can't play together. Rambis tried to run the triangle offense last year with personal that didn't fit the system. The triangle won't work without outside shooting, and they had none. But if they did, which is why they want Johnson, then Love could play the high post and start the offense. Leaving big Al down in the post. Love is perfect for that offense with his passing ability and also his ability to hit the open shot from out there. All they need are some other shooters.

After thinking about this for a while now Al is who I want, unless we get Cuz. No Cuz though and I really want Big Al in a Kings uni. IDK what would happen to Brockman but think about this frontcourt-

Dalembert
JT
Big AL
Landry

Man that's a great selection of timber.

I think that title automatically belongs to Dalembert ;)

however all this Big Al talk may be moot anyway if NJ takes Wes Johnson at the #3 pick

Do you think Minny would not trade big Al to get the #5 pick just to pick Cousins and Favors?

I think Minny would only trade for getting both Cousins and Wesley

If Wes is gone at the #3 pick

Then Minny - Favors
Sacto - Cousins
GSW - Monroe

Wait Wait Its Kahn (last yr pt guards this yr Bigs?)
Minny gets Cousins(c) Favors(pf) and Love and Darko as 4 way front line?
Hmmmmmm

So then question is does sacto want the bird in hand (Big Al)
or continue to build with youth? I say go with Favors or Cousins
we continue the plan to build with youth, save cap space to
strike when the best trade FA comes along in next few years

I have no idea why DX is talking about Minny picking Favors over Cousins then saying Favors is a good fit with Al, and Love? How so? You got 3 PFs and two of those can't play together... Cousins should go to Minnesota, and they should still trade Jefferson. They should also continue to develop Brewer unless they feel like giving Brewer, and Jefferson to the Kings. That would be win-win.

Who do you all think the Maloofs want? I have a feeling that they are foaming at the mouth for Cousins.. I think they would like Jefferson too but Cousins more.
