Ailene Poison claims Rudy asked to be moved

We're talking about a lady who once got caught making up quotes, apologized for it, and then openly admitted to continuing to do it afterwards.

Too bad the Weekly World News shut down... she could have gone big time with that approach.

As far as Rudy goes....

I can see Vlade keeping Rudy until at least the February trade deadline.

And who knows, Winning cures a lot of bad feelings and if Joeger and the Kings can start off the season strong, Gay and the Kings may be looking to extend their relationship come next summer.

Rudy is pretty central to our success this season. Im not reading into anything AV publishes.

The chances of us switching Rudy for a legit 2nd scoring option appear slim - we are riding this season out with him.

So per this interview, Rudy has not asked for a trade

but we have a long thread about Big cuz not knowing what is going on "What is the plan?"

now Rudy is saying the same thing, He just wants some long term stability
there has been much discussion about Vlade and dave Working towards a defensive team
Why cant the FO at least discuss the FO moves with our number one and number two players
Our top players do not have to make the final decision on the Kings moves
But why cant Vlade tell our top players his rational, our plan for changing the style of the team
Why are our top players see all these moves just like us - From the Internet?
For god sake Vlade - just pick up your phone and Call Cuz and Rudy!!!!

they dont have to make any decisions, the players would like to be
informed and feel there is a plan

Rudy says he doesnt even know who all these new players are
another year of all new players new coach, new system

How can our top players "buy-in" if they have no idea what Vlade and Dave are thinking?
Rudy sees all this trade chatter, and he loves our town and our fans
but the front office can not communicate how he could help the team
other than twitter that says he is on the block to get a PG?

And we all wonder why our front office is a laughing stock of the league

we've had problems with leaks for a while. Vlade takes over and suddenly players are complaining that they don't know what is going on. I'd say this is a good thing. Sure it's probably frustrating for them in the offseason but our FO has been very busy and has needed to close leaks. The results during the season will hopefully repair this.

I think Vlade has a serious problem with communication. I agree with what you have written as close to 100% as I can get. ;)

Leaks are a problem only before a FA signing or a trade
Once the signing is done how hard is it to Call Cuz and Rudy and explain the reasoning and how Vlade thinks it makes the team better
If general goals are laid out to the player
and they are talked too after the moves to tell them how the move brings us closer to winning
Then players will not complain about "failure to cummunicate"

The offseason is not over. We have months to still make trades. If Vlade were to "explain the reasoning" it might require that he say something along the lines of "we signed player X, because we want to trade player Y for player Z." Then that exposes his moves and/or plans to trade leaks which could undermine his bargaining power. Obviously we are talking purely hypothetically here to try to understand the situation.

I don't think anyone expects a phone call to be made that lays out his exact plans (eg telling Cousins we drafted Papagiannis as a potential successor if he walks in free agency two years from now). However, it would be easy for Vlade to assure these players they are part of their plans going forwards (eg telling them they aren't on the trade block), or let them know they are available in a trade at the right price. It doesn't need Vlade to lay out his plans like a big screen villain to the hero. All it needs is for Vlade to let the player know they are part of the team's long term plans or that they are available for trades.

Telling them that would not be difficult, and it wouldn't hurt any potential moves because unless the Rudy trade rumors are totally false, most GMs will know he's available at the right price. Likewise, most GMs will know that Cousins might be available at the right price if we start this year badly or finish the season no better off than last season. But while we fans are aware of rumors, it can unsettle players, and GMs should try to assure players they have a future on the team (ie this is Cousins' team long term), or that they are available at the right price.

But that doesn't appear to be what Rudy is talking about. Rudy said there had been communications. Now he made some vague comments along the lines that he would rather hear about rumors from the horse's mouth than Twitter. Which I assume means trade rumors. But how can a GM ever really know what the outcome of an offseason will be. But he also mentioned that he hasn't even paid attention to off season acquisitions which tells me that he is not invested in the team and its future.

Rudy hasn't even paid attention to who the new acquisitions are......meh
This is why I don't think the underlying complaint is that he doesn't know what direction the team is going. All he has to do is pay attention to the team movements. As mentioned earlier, he also could pick up the phone and ask. I think it's about not getting respect and I'm not so sure he earned that last year.

Vlade; talk to him or if you are going to dump our second best guy, dump him.

Has Rudy been told he's on the trade block or has Vlade kept that to himself?

If it's the former, then Rudy has no complaints because a GM is not going to start telling a player who they are targeting. However, if it's the latter and he's not been told he's on the block and he's finding out about trades on Twitter (or wherever), then all Vlade has to do is say you're on the trade block and we intend to move you when we get the right deal.

That said, his recent comments do tend to suggest he's disinterested in the team. But that could be because he's been unsettled with the rumors and lack of commitment the team may or may not have shown him.

I guess Ailene was right. Two points for her side. Good reporting.

no, not good reporting. ailene claimed that rudy has demanded a trade. that claim has been refuted by other sources, including rudy himself. she may have been right that rudy is dissatisfied with the kings, but it's imprecise and sloppy reporting to twist a player's displeasure with a team into a trade demand.

Here's the question I have for you. Can you give me one quote from Vlade, or anyone in the Kings organization saying that they want to trade Rudy, or saying that Rudy asked for a trade? I personally haven't heard one. Everything I hear is coming from someone in the media, and god knows where they're getting their information. So far this summer, everything the media has predicted hasn't come true, and every move Vlade has made, whether we like the move of not, has been a surprise. That tells me that the media doesn't know squat about what the Kings are doing. Even Wojo has been behind the curve.

The fact that Gay doesn't know who the new players are says more about him than the Kings. I know who they are, and so do you. It's not a national secret. If he wants to know what's going on, then ask. It's called communication! I like Rudy, and personally I'd love for it to work out here. But he's a big boy. If he has a need to know something, then pick up the damm phone and give Vlade a call. Vlade has better things to do than to run around responding to every crazy rumor that pops up. Actually, responding to them in many cases tends to give them credence.

Rudy's future with the team probably depends on Joerger. If he wants him on the team, he'll probably be on the team, and if he thinks he's a poor fit, then he won't. It also depends on what someone is willing to give up for Gay. I don't think Vlade is going to give him away. I'd love for it to work, but I'm not sure it would. Joerger has said he wants ball movement, and passing the ball isn't one of Gay's strengths. He's at his best in isolation, and isolation is the antithesis of ball movement. Wouldn't mind seeing Rudy get a shot though. We can always move him at the trade deadline, although his value will be less then.

Edit: Just read some comments by Vlade who was at the USA/China game last night in Oakland. He said he was unaware of Rudy's comments, but said that Rudy has his number if he has any questions. He said if something was going to happen, he would call Rudy, but since nothing has happened, he hasn't called. He said it's not managements job to call all the players on a regular basis to let them know what's going on. He said he was a player for 16 or so years and no one from management ever called him unless something happened. He didn't appear happy with Rudy's comments.

Early in the Summer, while being interviewed, Vlade was asked about what is next, I think it was after the draft. He mentioned upgrading the SG, PG and then let slipped the SF position. I don't have a link but I just know what he said.

You are absolutely correct on this one so it is interesting that Casspi, Barnes are on the roster as SFs and even Afflalo can play some SF.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out but I am not expecting anything close to real value in return for Rudy. He obviously has his mind made up, checked out and is now putting pressure on the team to trade him without asking for a trade....if that even makes sense.

It's obvious he wants out, the value is low and we have not addressed the 2nd scorer option in FA and are looking to do so via trade. The only issue here is that there appears to be nothing our there available on the trade market that fits that description.

Does Rudy Live in Sacramento? Has he been in Sacramento at all this off season? How can he not know which players have been added? I mean especially since many of them can play the 3 spot:eek:
