Admit it

I'll admit I wouldn't give a single crap if they did move and the team was better off. I'm not from Sac or Cali and only had the loosest of connections to the Kings in the late 90s when I chose the Kings, but I chose the Sacramento Kings. I continue to choose them and whatever misery that comes with it. I can cheer for better future outcomes AND for winning now. They aren't mutually exclusive like so many fans seem to think/feel. Just look at Dallas, conspiracy rigging aside. Realism and details can stay at my job and responsibilities. My fandom only requires blind hope and optimism.

I was (and still am) living in the Seattle area when the Kings were potentially moving. Regardless of the fact that I would have been able to watch live NBA games over the past decade, I was probably the only person in the area that was rooting against a move. I have no freaking idea why this stupid team, which moved to Sacramento when I was a 13 year old living in Loomis, has had a grip on me for almost 40 years of my life but it has. Regardless of the awful luck of attaching myself to a perpetual loser team, I still got the highs of the early 2000's and the Beam Team (yep.. that's pretty much the only payoff on a lifetime of misery).

If an expansion team comes to Seattle, I would look to become a season ticket holder and would likely see my time investment in the Kings dwindle significantly. However, I will still always be a fan and happy they stayed in Sac.

Even during the playoff beam team year, I spent more time at DOCo for non kings event. Prior to DOCO, the area is kinda dead so the premise that kings would have been better in Seattle for Sacramentan is not true for me.
I've possibly been to more concerts there than Kings games, and that's definitely one of the reasons Crown Downtown (and others) were so vocal at City Council meetings about getting a downtown arena built. You can look at the City Council meeting photos when we did the first jersey removal/reveal to see the various arguments CD made.

So, do I wish the Kings had gone to Seattle or wherever? Heck no. As we said at the time - it is #BiggerThanBasketball

I've seen lots of concerts that never would have come closer than San Francisco if the arena wasn't here. What that arena has done for the area and the City is great.

So I can loosely cheer for Boston and Portland because I spent significant portions of my life in each city. The Kings are the only one that will flood me with emotion, but at least one of the three have been good enough at any one minute, but not good enough for it to feel like cheating (I hated the 80s celtics with a passion).
