Ademan: Keep him or let him go ?

Should the Kings keep Adelman or fire him / let him go after season ?

I think the change in Adelmans favor is simply this. The players were no longer responding to him. Adelman was unable to fire the team up and get them to play hard. People wanted him out because this team was going downhill and he was unable to get this team to play. He isn't that type of coach. Luckily for him, Ron comes in, fires up the fan, and from the looks of it, his teamates... Therefore, Rick can stay in alot of peoples eyes...

I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that Adelman is here for the rest of the year. After that he will thankfully be gone and off to coach at Portland State.

All I know is that if the guys that pick music at Arco had any sense of humor at all they would play the the power chords for "Should I Stay or Should I Go" when RA is announced.

For all those who want Adelman to go......Please.....double Please tell me who you would go after. If you haven't noticed all the good coaches are in long term contracts. And before you say Don Nelson.....Think to your self and ask do I want to see the Kings play Small Ball? Because Don Nelson is all about causing mismatches on the court and with our current roster the only way he can do that is by playing small ball. And I know how much everyone in this forum loves when RA plays small

And I would have loved to see what this poll looked like before the Artest trade. Now that would have been interesting compared to the current results that shocked me.

Don't Get me started. The Music at ARCO during the game needs a whole thread by its self..............Let me just say ATROCIOUS!!!!

I rather like the music at Arco, actually.

Primus, Rage Against the Machine, Marilyn Manson and hip hop from my high school days.

However, they do have a new thing where the audience cheers/boos to pick from three songs to be played at halftime, and I was rather disappointed with the Sacramento crowd for booing The Ramones' "Rock and Roll High School."

I voted to keep him but with reservations. His rotations and how he uses his "dog house" will just have to keep driving me crazy as there really is no one better out there. I also agree he is the type of coach to keep Artest happy (fingers crossed). I just wonder if he really wants to stay with the Kings after all that has gone down? I am not going to get my hopes up too much that he remains the coach of the Kings. ( I cannot help but wonder if he too is ready for some new scenery; especially after how he was treated by the maloofs.) I hope he doesn't leave--it would just be close to the final step in the implosion of the Kings we knew and loved.

My opinion has not changed. The man is special. That's why so many players like it here. Team chemistry starts at the top.

KEEP ADELMAN

I dont mind those bands but I just miss the old times of just plain keyboard music. I give respect to NY for keeping it real. Anywhoo back to the topic at hand.

what happened to all the adleman haters? a week before before VF21 started the keep adelman thread yesterday everyone was ready to toss him.

i say we toss him

I'm undecided on this one. I really think it is time for a change but on the other hand who else could we get? The grass is not always greener on the other side and after the way theMaloofs treated him, why would he even want to stay?
Agree with Celt about the Clash though.

We had a defensively weak team with no on court leadership. I dunno, what happened?

Agreed. This team is finally starting to play some defense and playing hard when a certain player comes on board and now everyone is thinking this is Adelmans doing??? Please.

Adelman now has a leader on the court(like he had with Vlade and Webb) and someone who will get on the players if they aren't playing hard.

Any improvement that the team shows during the last part of the season will be the result of adding a key player and losing one that didn't want to be here......not the coach.

But the coach does have the responsibilty of keeping the players in check. With Artest's volatile temperament, I think Adelman is well suited for the job, considering how he's nutured various malcontents in the past. His free flowing offense has a lot to do with it as well. Players don't feel so restricted playing in his sytem and that was what Artest was looking for in the first place.

However, not so long ago, I was one of those people who thought that the players had simply tuned out and were not listening to the coach anymore. They lacked passion, and their effort was only sporadic. That all changed when we aquired Artest, he is that dynamic that change the entire complexity of a team. Therefore, with this "new team," I'm willing to give Adelman a chance as he has coached some good defensive teams in the past. Obviously, we are all only judging by a handful of games.... it's only a matter of time before we know what coach is good for this team.

I'm all for keeping Adelman for the rest of the year just for the sake of continuity. I'm just not for keeping him for the long term.

Well these last few months will be a good measuring stick, if everyone can get and stay healthy. I still feel we need that inside presence and maybe a more suitable back up pg. But the pieces are starting to fit, only time will tell if Adelman is the right piece for this team. Again this is assuming everyone stays relatively injury- free and they continue to play with the same intensity as the last few stints. What if they played .600+ ball till the end of the season (big IF, i know)?

I'm vouching for Adelman only because there is no one out there available that can do a better job than he is doing right now IMO. However if, for example, Popovich calls...

I am more on the side of letting him go. The only way I would say keep him is if the Kings go on a serious tear. I don't expect the playoffs even if they did, but I want to see if Adelman is capable of running a Defensive minded team. So far so good, but I want more time to see.

Alot of his stubborness in my opinion keeps the Kings from their true abilities as a whole. Also, sometimes his leash is way too long. A happy medium would be more desirable.

Also, I wouldn't fire him. I would just allow his contract to expire. Then you have to wonder who is better??? Tough call, really.

Even before Artest came, we weren't going to get anyone better. Adelman has won everywhere he's been. Now with Artest, I'd argue that we NEED him.
ditto...after all, he was able to tame Sprewell, the early years, which might have been just as big a task as Artest now.

His stubbornness has also gotten us to the playoffs every year since 1999.

I certainly hope the Maloofs don't just allow his contract to expire. They owe him a lot better treatment than that. If they aren't going to offer him a new deal, I would really hope they have the good manners and common sense to at least go to him and tell him...
