According to Monty "Thomas will start"

I have just heard Monty on the Rise Guys and he says the Kings plan to start KT over Shareef tonight.

Any thoughts?
Doubt it means much. If it means anything, I'm assuming appeasement. Its the first preseason game, so if you told me that we were going to start Luis Flores over Mike Bibby I would nto have been terribly shocked. But who knows.

Adelman may start Thomas tonight to see how he plays with other back up guys. Come the start of the season Shareef will start barring some unfortunante incident.

I love Thomas as a backup to Peja and, at times, even a better option. I for one don't like the idea of the two of them playing together.

Wish it was televised tonight.

Game is on Comcast Sports West. Not sure about the rest of the country, but the locals will see it.

i agree. we are way too short, and will have a hard time rebounding with the 2 of them in there together.

reef should be the starter when the season starts.

i seriously don't understand this " start me or else" crap that players complain about. if your getting 30 minutes a night, who cares if they come from starting or off the bench?? too much ego.

KT is not starting "over" SAR. Rather Adelmann is respecting someone with experience with his system, a known quantity, great training camp and tempered a bit by seniority I'm sure. I prefer just "starting" and "off the bench".

Bench = Monster Mash: SAR at 4, Skinner at 5, Hart at 1, Kevin at 2 and Cisco at 3. Depending on matchups...

We have a very underrated bench . Skinner,k-9 , cisco , martin and hart make up a solid bench , which could provide the defense we need to win close games down the stretch .

i really hope this is only for the preseason....KT starting is just wrong on so many levels

if he really has that big of an ego, he needs to be traded right away

Exactly, SAR isn't going to be mad about this, and this makes Kenny happy, now it's on Kenny to prove that he deserves it.

I strongly doubt if Petrie or Adelman called Monty this morning. Monty - Mr. "I don't need the facts; I'll just listen to myself" - isn't exactly the font of all things reliable about the Kings anyway.

It's not about winning anyway tonight. It's about assessing the team, the players, the combinations, etc. Remember, some of these guys are living on borrowed time; it's only fair they get a good chance to prove themselves in game situations before the sword drops...and all they have is a uniform hanging in their closets.

It doesnt' surprise me that KT is starting this game, I still doubt that he will be the starter come the regular season. Agreed on the fact that tonight will probably mostly about seeing how certain guys work together and evaluating the invitees. If SAR was starting then it might mean something, but I don't think that KT starting this game means anything. My guess is that Adelman is focusinig too much on that battle right now but more so on who is going to be on the team or not.

This is alright... SAR will be the starter come Nov. 1 and KT won't. I'll be surprised if KT is starting more than once in the first week. I agree with Doc and Cruz.

If he starts in the regular season, it will be because Adelman and the coaching staff decide it's the best thing to do...

Have faith. It's only the first pre-season game of the year. It's way too early to even bring up the "worrying" word.

;)

Who starts the game is irrelevant. Who finishes the game is much more important.

I expect KT to start but I suspect he will end up being the 6th man by the start of the season. KT is more familiar with the system and he will start for a little while, before SAR gets more comfortable. Think what happened last year when we got KT from trade. Songaila started for a while before KT got more comfortable in the system. Same scenario here ;)

I like the decision to make SAR EARN astart and showing faith in Kenny the dwarf... that being said I doubt it will take SAR long to earn his start.
