That was the official poll onn the Kings.com forum.

Think the explanation is fairly easy -- people who call into radio stations are generally relatively extreme boobs. :)

If they're dumb enough to wait that long to talk to Grant Napear and friends, then of course, the results don't surprise me. I know that's quite a blanket statement and that there are those who make good points on his show, but it seems to me that he usually hangs up on them or just calls that person an idiot before hanging up on them.

By 80-20, I meant 80% OPPOSED to the trade on this forum :D

Perhaps it is the difference between people who like to shoot their mouth off on talkshows, and people who take the time to compose their thoughts in text. Even the people on this board who are in favor of the Webber trade make more rational arguments than their talkshow caller counterparts.

we most definitely cannot contend this season. and, unless petrie works some magic in the offseason, we probably wont be contending next season, either. the simple fact of the matter is that the rest of the nba is getting much better. the elite are improving further, and those teams that previosuly couldnt contend with the kings are now able to. the kings are moving backwards. likely a few years before we're a major contender again, like we were in 2001-2002.

Unfortunately, I agree with you.

I wouldnt say it was 70-30 on the Radio. I think its 60-40% against the trade. Thats from what ive heard.

Maybe holding out hope that the team could contend with CWebb was an exaggerated false hope, though. What did the team do differently in terms of outcome in the Dallas game that was much worse than the previous 7 or 8 games? In my mind, very little. And it produced the same result --- 4th quarter lead lost, game lost.

And who is to say that some of these "role players" that come in won't legitimately help the Kings this season? Bibby, Mobley, Peja and Miller is still a ton of talent in a starting lineup --- plenty of NBA teams would swap their four starters at their respective positions immediately for those guys.

My main disappointment in the trade from a Kings' fan's perspective is the failure to get some legitimate backup talent at the SF. Sure, Corliss *can* play there, but he's out of position on defense (grossly) at the SF. I'm quite surprised Petrie wasn't able to get a player with some size and athleticism to back up Peja. Mo Evans can give the effort, but he's slightly undersized.

Corliss and Thomas bring about 24 ppg and 11 reb. Lets see what they do off the bench on defense as well. Listening to ESPN radio much of Thursday brought in a bunch of different perspectives on the trade. All suprised but some logic surfaced from some major pundits: flexibility with the cap, flexibility in off season trading, increase in defense with Thomas and big increase in stopping layup drills by other teams, putting Pedja in the lead like last year, and they were 43-15 last year without webber.

In the last 15 games how many times was CWebb standing at the elbow, the ball comes to him, he fakes a few times, but everyone knows he has no quick moves and more so all the defenders stay with their guys cutting down Kings chances as there is no double teams any more, then he shoots a jumper as everyone else stood around.

I think it is unfortunately natural for all the role players to stand around waiting for the star to do his thing. But 98% of the time? it seem so.

Last night was a very good game until 5 min left when the Kings got tired and had not much bench help. We did not have Pedja, nor BJax, to MAJOR pieces. Those two in there and we win by 10 last night. The new players there and familiar a little bit with the team, we win easily. So lets be patient and see in 2 weeks.

Because this board heavily encourages complimentary opinions and clamps down on critical ones - no matter how constructive/insightful they may be.

maybe because some of the more "hardcore" fans (and by that I mean those who devote a lot of time devoted to thinking about the Kings as compared to your usual fan who just turns it on come game time) needed some time to cope with broken hearts and adjusting to the idea that the Kings, as we know them, have changed forever, and that our season outlook just changed drastically for the worse. Personally, I was in no way ready to take a step towards rebuilding and to sacrifice this season for future seasons at this point, but I was nowhere emotionally ready to call in and deal with the talk show hosts, most which jumped from the "Webber is our hero" bandwagon, to the "Webber was worthless" group in a matter of hours.

That was me that asked!:o . But I guess my question was as was so elegantly staed here. Why is it such a big disconnect. Why is it that on the radio, the local talk shows to me seem to express more of a "good ridance" compared to this board, where there seems to be more thought and rational expression. Maybe it is the nature of the forums. But in listening to 1140 the Kings flagship station, I am hearing more contempt about Chris.

That is some bogus b.s. This is one of the most balanced boards I've ever been on. If the post IS constructive/insightful, you're set, no matter what position you hold.
