Well he wouldn't sign an extension if we traded FRPs for those guys (my speculation but follows the leaks we are about certain came from his camp) so I think there is some truth to that while at the same time he can say us not trading for those guys is why he needed to leave.

There's clearly more to the story though given the talent we were able to bring in with Fox's departure without giving up a significant asset. Those were also the first significant moves we made since Brown's departure aside from Deebo and the whole Sasha nightmare (which is a strike against Brown, imho).
Another thing that this definitely sounds like is a shot at Keegan why would he be telling his wing they needed a wing? That was his position at the time. Then IIRC didn't Fox kind of question Keegan at one point basically implying he needed to step it up and be that guy? The funny thing is Fox needs to realize most teams with elite wings draft and develop them they don't trade for them. This feels like Fox was scouring boards to see what fans have been complaining about for years to find understanding, lol.

Fox still running his mouth? Sam Amick articles always paint the Kings in an awful light, i'll never understand why he's even given any access

Fox had 1.5 quality seasons in like 8 years with the Kings which lead to one playoff 1st round exit (in a completely injury riddled WC) over what proved a pretty mediocre GSW team, the guy wanted to be paid like a #1 yet never really produced like one consistently the only problem with his tenure is not it ending but that fact it some ways it lead to getting rid of Haliburton

The fact that Fox can’t stop talking is enough reason for me to pretend he doesn’t exist. He has definitely lied his way through the trade and afterwards, claiming innocence at every turn.

You’re not on this team anymore because you demanded it. Just shut your mouth and hoop.

I look forward to Keon harassing him for the full game. Also, that Castle kid may genuinely be the real deal. He has outplayed Fox on more than one occasion.
First Halliburton, then Fox. What is it about Sacramento, the front office, the fans, etc. that seems to make former players act so dramatic after a trade. I totally get some of the unstable front office comments by Fox, but since he got to Sac the team bent over backwards for him. Every decision (good and bad) seemed to center around him as our star. They could have made better decisions but not sure management could have done much more to cater to DeAarons career….right down to moving him to the spurs. He needs to move on.

not boards. twitter.

I touched on it briefly without elaborating: so much of this Amick report is aimed at the terminally online twitter crowd of which Fox and Recee are members. It is pretty clear that they have hand picked folks out there to feed nuggets to and turn into influencers and Kings twitter has a very different Kings narrative than this forum or reddit, or probably any of the other web forums that exist out there. It's really funny because it would be like if the article dropped a bunch of references to Omax or James Bouknight or some other meme player from this forum.

The one thing this article clarifies is that just about every leak that surfaced from twitter and fan media was coming from Fox's camp. He's a walking Tim Robinson hot dog right now.

But Hali is different because he gave his allegiance and was caught off guard and hurt by the trade. A lot of courtesies Fox was extended were a direct result of that fallout. But also that trade was made to placate Fox. The guy we did wrong. anyways.

Hali has gotten over it and good for him. Feel like Fox is going to be more in the IT camp where he spends his San Antonio career bashing us until he learns that some of the more successful orgs treat their guys like commodities.

A bad rep organizationally (well deserved at times) and a diehard fanbase can be a scary combo for players I'm sure. With social media these days these players hear it. They feel it. When Kings fans boo it isn't like other places. It touches the soul. Hopefully WHEN it goes down it doesn't light any fires in Fox. The Kings need this win.

As not great as the past 2 years have been I'm not sure I'm down with this narrative. Kings have held their own in an increasingly tough Western Conference where the teams are separated by 2-3 games in the bottom 6 spots post season spots. Kings were good enough to lock their spot up early in 2023 and stumbled to do so these past two years but look like a team that is built to be a 5-6 seed. Which is pretty good for Sacramento.

No doubt. I'd definitely throw Reddit on there too. X is for the highly uneducated fan. Player misses shot = player sucks. If he's affected by that, lord help the guy, lol. It would explain the super heightened sensitivity though.

Reddit and Kings twitter are at war though. If you go over there they mock the top influencers on twitter and on twitter they talk about how stupid redditors are. I'm in all the spaces because I'm a Kings fan and just like to know the pulse of others lol.

I could see if we were petty and moved this guy to Charlotte or Washington like the Warriors did with Poole. Like just stfu already - maybe If he were this vocal and spicy on the court, he would have made it to the playoffs more than once.

Most decent coaches don't have 2 Coach of the Year awards.
Looking at the list of coaches with 2 I like the list of one time winners better.

The guys that won 3 are pretty noteworthy (Nelson, Riley, Pop) but otherwise most of the great coaches in my life won once or never at all.

Never forget, if Fox hadn't pulled his "I'll be signing in San Antonio and literally nowhere else in summer 2027" schtick, Castle would very likely be a King right now.

I'm an eye test and results guy and so I can appreciate where you come from with the metrics but even last year the team was not fun for me to watch. I liked the results more often than I didn't but I didn't feel it warranted a raise and extension for the coach because so much changed for the negative vs. year one which was a fun, exciting brand of basketball I loved watching.

You will say that the advanced stats don't bear out the team being better without Brown and that might be true, but I see more movement, more energy, more hustle, and more team synergy with this version of the team.

The fact that it has also translated to more wins is a nice feature though.
Well there's the rub. The general sentiment among Kings fans for as long as I remember has been that people here want to watch fun up-tempo basketball with a lot of scoring. And this franchise has generally obliged by assembling rosters that routinely rank in the top 10 offensively even when they fail to win more than 30-35 games in a season. Last year was just the start of scaling back the offense to prioritize defense and first the fanbase and then the owner had a complete meltdown and blew up a winning team in order to get back to that fun style of (losing) basketball they love so much.

To be honest, it's left me feeling like life is too short to sit through this whole "learning why we lose so that we can learn how to win" schtick all over again and I'd be better off picking a new team.

If he wanted Brown to stay and others wanted him gone, then why is Fox the one that quit on the last play against the Pistons and then didn't own it after the game? Something doesn't add up to me with that, but obviously Fox's PR team senses the animosity bubbling for tonight's game so they are just doing their job.

Go Kings!

I want to watch the team win and Brown's team won more when they played fun basketball.

Doug's team is winning more playing fun basketball.

The golden years were fun basketball.

I would not consider many other times fun basketball outside of a few stretches with Mitch.

eta: whatever Brown was doing that made the advanced stats look real nice was also allowing teams that struggle beyond the arc to have record setting nights from 3 against us.

My thing is, if Mike Brown was so precious and near and dear to your heart, why the hell are you so apathetic and damn near tanking the season while he was still here? Gifting Jaden Ivey the biggest play of his NBA career up to this point - the math ain’t mathing
The same Mike Brown that constantly torched him in post game tirades including the one after that play. Yet we're supposed to believe Fox had his feelings hurt by Monte not giving a press conference.

This is a guy completely in-tune with one segment of the fan base's narrative to everything that is unexplained and winking it back at them. But the individual elements don't add up to the story being spun.

Fox needs to stop talking. With all the circles he's running he's creating holes in his own excuses. It's not hard, "Kangz gonna Kangz so I was out." Done.
