[Game] 61/82: Kings @ Nuggets, 05 MAR 2025, 6:00p PT/9:00p ET

In all seriousness Jake flashes the potential but also shows why Memphis walked away at times. One can hope that he appreciates the opportunity that he's being given and likes the team enough that he'll bet on himself by re-signing with an option after a year rather than take a multi-year deal that locks him into a smaller payday.
I think there's a reasonable chance he could sign a 1+1, give himself some injury protection if he gets hurt next year and then hit the market after fully establishing himself as a 2-way wing. I mean, would he get more than like Caleb Martin at 3/27?

We’ve seen teams be stingy with the MLE now that you can use it in trades (like we did for Jonas) so I’m honestly not sure he’d even get that.

I think that's exactly the play. Hopefully he knows he needs to establish himself somewhere to get that big payday, and taking a chance that would happen on yet another team is a big risk. I'm not worried if he really excels here. That should mean he'll want to stay, and get that big contract later.
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves but if he signed a 1+1 there's a pretty good chance he could replace DeMar in the starting lineup when he opts out after a year, especially if Keegan slides back down to SF.

It’s really clear that he values being wanted and appreciated. He has mentioned several times in different ways he didn’t get the love in Memphis. Fans should be blowing up his socials
