The History Channel Presents "NBA's Top 10 Greatest"

The Boston Celtics' unprecedented run of eight consecutive NBA titles from1959 to 1966. The Chicago Bulls' record-setting 72-win season in 1996. Derek Fisher's last-second shot in Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Playoffs. These are just some of the memorable events that help define NBA history. And during a month-long voting initiative, The History Channel gave fans the forum to determine which are the NBA's defining moments. What was the greatest NBA Finals moment? Which two players squared off in the game's best one on one duel? Whose slam-dunk performance was most memorable? To answer these questions The History Channel teamed up with the NBA to create a fan-based voting initiative in which fans had the opportunity to determine the greatest moments, achievements and milestones in NBA history. From February 15th through March 15th fans were able to log on to NBA.com and cast their vote in ten different categories.

On Thursday, April 21 at 7p.m., the final results of the fan-based voting will be unveiled during a one-hour History Channel special entitled "NBA's TOP 10 GREATEST." Television commentator and NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton will serve as mediator to an expert panel of players, coaches and sportswriters as they evaluate and debate the top choices selected from each of the "ten greatest" categories.

Panelists include: Bill Walton, current NBA commentator and former player with the Portland Trailblazers, San Diego Clippers, Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics; George Gervin, former player for the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls; Dave Cowens, former player/coach for the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets; Walt Frazier, current New York Knicks commentator and former player for the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers and Ric Bucher, senior writer for ESPN.

"For the second consecutive year, The History Channel will help bring to life the great history and tradition of the game with the "NBA'S TOP 10 GREATEST" program presented by The History Channel," said Carl Lindahl, Vice President, Historical Programming, The History Channel. "We are delighted to again partner with the NBA and demonstrate our unprecedented commitment to basketball history, while presenting some fascinating sports television to our viewers."

Using NBA game highlights and interviews with players and experts, The History Channel special will present each category and the four most likely candidates. Interviews include: Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, LeBron James, Paul Pierce, Tim Duncan, Robert Parish, Vince Carter, Al Attles, Bob Ryan and many more. Host Bill Walton and the panel will offer their choices and debate their differing views. At the conclusion of their discussions the results of the fan-based voting for each category will be revealed.

The "NBA's TOP 10 GREATEST" program will combine fast-paced NBA action, controversial sports talk, and historical game insights, designed to create compelling and memorable television around the greatest moments in NBA history. "The History Channel continues to demonstrate its unprecedented commitment to basketball history with the 'NBA's Top 10 Greatest' special program," said Larry Weitzman, Vice President, Original Programming and Production, NBA Entertainment. "This year, we are eager to see basketball fans program a show on The History Channel that will feature their favorite players and moments in NBA history."

I thought it was pretty sophmorish and boring.

It was actually on at 5pm, so I caught the last 10 minutes and quickly saw that it was typical historically-warped suckitude.
