Games are won by who scores the most points. Points count the same no matter where they are scored from. In a season where (including fouls) the league is scoring an average of 1.164 points per shot attempt and the Kings are scoring 1.114 points per shot attempt, DeRozan is scoring 1.212 points per shot attempt. DeRozan's midrange shots aren't the problem. They're better than the average shot the team takes by a decent amount.

Second of All™, only 25 percent of his shots on the season (and 22 percent of his shots for his career) come from outside the three-point arc. And, for that matter, only 30 percent of his shots for his career come outside of 16 feet (cite). So, statistically speaking, he's not doing "way" more than shooting midrange.
