3 semi-realistic things I'd like to see the Kings do this season:

Smills91

Starter
1) Move Brad Miller for Joakim Noah
2) Move John Salmons for Julian Wright/Rasual Butler
3) Move Moore/filler for Right to Tiago Splitter

Kings roster in 2010 could potentially look like:

C: Spencer Hawes, Joakim Noah (PF/C type with 09 or 10 lotto pick)
PF: Jason Thompson, Tiago Splitter
SF: Julian Wright, Donte Greene (Hou pick 09)
SG: Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia
PG: Lotto pick(09 or 10), Beno Udrih, Bobby Brown

That 13 man roster would be REALLY nice moving forward.

How does Miller for Noah work financially? I like the NO trade, that would be perfect. I doubt SA would value Moore that much if at all, Splitter may be a few years away from the NBA (not sure of any buyout options in his contract) but that's how low Moore's value is.

1. Some sort of a Miller for Hughes/Noah or Thomas would be a solid trade.
2. Julian Wright is not very good, and I think the Kings could do a lot better trading Salmons.
3. Works for me.

That roster is young and talented, but also very inexperienced. We need SOME veterans on the team, even if they don't play that much. But I like the deals. I always liked Tiago, and wanted us to draft Wright. Not a fan of Noah's though

Well, we'll keep Bobby around through the end of the year. And Martin and Cisco are hardly spring chickens anymore.

Noah is garbage and I think we could get a lot more for Miller than him. There will be a few teams that might think that Miller could be the last piece they need to go deep into the playoffs.

While I'm not a Miller fan, I do think that he would play a lot better on a contender and a team that doesn't need him to do as much as he attempts to do with us.

Hughes is a selfish player and poison to a team. Noah is a one dimensional player and has proved himself to be a pain in the butt since he's been in the NBA. I don't want either of these guys on the Kings. Thomas would be fine.

Number one, I think your giving Noah way too much credit calling him garbage. Number two, I agree with you on Miller. Regardless of what some local fans think, he's still one of the better all around centers in the league. I think moving him to a contending team might reinspire him. At any rate he has more value than Noah.

I haven't seen enough of Noah or Splitter, but from what I saw of Julian Wright last year in the playoffs, he could be a very good player down the line. I'd love to get him. Is Salmons better right now? Yes. So, maybe NO give us a pick as well. But I really like the length and athleticism of this guy. He's also very good defensively.

However you feel about Hughes, good luck constructing a Tyrus Thomas trade without him. He's a contract, nothing more.

To be honest with you, if his contract was up at the end of this year I'd do it. But I don't know if I could handle having to watch him for another year. You have no idea how much I dislike this guy.

Neither Thomas nor Noah are worth swapping Miller for Hughes, no point really. I'd do it for a first rounder.

I remember how mad I was that Chicago got Noah over us. I was seriously praying that we could get him on our team.

Now that I look at it we definatly got the better of the two. I have to admit that I have not watched Noah much but if you just look at the numbers you can really see a huge difference.

wat? because salmons is better right, at close to 30 years of age, NO should give more? Doesn't make any sense. Why would we do the trade? To get young potential. They would do it to get results right now.

teams rising up trade immediate/peaking talent for a gamble at talent later on. Teams that are contenders will want to take talent at the moment to push them over the top. You dont trade for equal immediate talent.

heres an example: Miller produces better than Oden NOW, but are you really going to try and ask portland for a pick to throw in because miller is better now?

I think some of you might find this comment interesting. Coach Del Negro’s decision on why Noah isn’t really playing.

Source: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/fullcourtpress/2008/12/noah-1.html

Tracked down in a United Center hallway after being benched for all of Saturday's victory over the Wizards, Joakim Noah responded with "Ask him" when a reporter from another publication asked if Vinny Del Negro warned the second-year center beforehand what was coming.

Del Negro was asked and offered some of the most blunt criticism of his coaching tenure on the subject. Typically, Del Negro deals in generalities and niceties even when discussing obvious shortcomings. But he said Noah needed to do a better job in remembering plays and being in the right defensive position.

And this doesn't even account for Noah's conditioning problems, which Del Negro has talked about consistently. The point is: In benching Noah and playing Tyrus Thomas just over five minutes, Del Negro is sending his loudest message yet. If these big men want to play, they need to produce consistently.

All 3 of those are general winners for what we want to accomplish.

And for people bashing Noah -- easy target, but he's not without talent in exactly the area we coould use some talent -- roleplayer. Rebound, defend, hustle, let the guys who like to shoot shoot all they want. As a starter last year(31 games) he averaged 28,3min 9.2pts (51% FG) 7.2reb 1.4ast 1.2stl 1.2blk . He's not a star, but he;s the sort of young player you could bring in to play the wacky Pollard roleplayeing big off the bench behind the actual talent. Can play either spot. Doesn't need the shots. And maybe he doesn't work out wiht his head, but when dumping vets its the sort of player you would look at.

We can get more for Miller. When the time comes for us to contend, we can sign someone of his caliber to do the dirty work and fill the role. Maybe not somebody as young as Noah, but I'm sure it wouldn't prove to be extremely difficult to sign someone like Steven Hunter or somebody like that.

Er...Steven Hunter isn't 1/10 of the player Noah is. In fact he's barely in the league anymore. Could bnlock a shot, do nothing else.

But the key is the youth. You don't want to get stuck in the New Orleans position of having two bigs and a fill in your question maark every season.

And no, we aren't going to get more for 33 year old Brad Miller than a Top 10 draft pick from last year. We'd be lucky to get a Bibby package. Maybe a late first, except I can't think of a contender that has a great use for a jumpshooting non-defending slow footed big man. Always thought Cleveland might be able to use him, but they are going so well they aren't going to shake things up. Thought he might do well next to a monster like Howard, but Orlando apparently has less than no interest. So you are in a position where nobody will give you a lotttery pick for him, and the teams outside the lottery are already largely set and unlikely to want him.

1) Move Brad Miller for Joakim Noah

Would a Brad for Snow+J.J. Hickson+Cav's 1st+L.Wright(would be waived, can be traded Dec. 15th) be easier. Following the Artest Model, Expiring+Prospect+Pick. Plus J.J. is 3 years younger and the Cavs are in a win now at all costs mode, where I don't know what Chicago is doing. For the Cavs they get Miller without giving up their biggest bargaining chip, the Expiring contract known as Wally.

As for Noah I worry about a guy with Conditioning Problems and whose Teammates voted to suspend him.

You make good points. But honestly, I don't care where Noah was taken. He wasn't worth being taken in the top 10. Darko was taken 2nd, it doesn't mean he's better than someone else taken lower than him.

Obviously I want Miller to be traded, so if this is the best we can do, then do it. But I'd expect to get a little more. I'd rather not start this up again, but I'd take Tyrus over Noah.
