2nd Round

I dont know if this is "special" enough to put into its own thread, but the first round bores me. I find myself being more excited for the second round of the draft. They are right when they say this is the deepest draft in a long time. There is some really good talent that could drop to us in the second round. I'm really excited we have two picks too. If we could land someone like Dorsey or Jawai in second round that would be AWESOME!

I dont know if I'm alone on this whole second round thing. So I thought i should make a thread about who you guys think or would like to be picked by us in the second round

One possible guy at our level would be Trent Plaisted from BYU -- 6'11" center. He is actually extremely athletic -- 35.5" vertical, which is higher than Anthony Randolph, for instance. He's also skilled around the basket and has a decent back to the basket game. People question his toughness and assertiveness, but in the second round he might be worth a look.

Yeah, I know who your talking about. This guy is a decent player. I think he would be worth a look in the second round. Kinda reminds me of a more explosive Brad Miller.

Another player am looking at is Malik Hariston and this guy can develop into something special, and when he loses his talent he can become a Mateen Cleaves sort of guy

Gary Forbes and Mike Taylor. Forbes may be gone before we pick, but I like him alot. Very athletic SF who can shoot the ball and plays great defense.

Their are some nice prospects who could be around when we pick. I'd like any two of the following;

Bill Walker, Nathan Jawai, Joey Dorsey, DJ White, DeVon Hardin, Richard Hendrix, and George Hill.

It would be great if we could have a shot at Hendrix or White, I think one of them (especially Hendrix) would be a steal at one of our picks. Jawai I definitely wouldn't mind; Walker isn't a bad risk to take on with a 2nd.

The thing with the second round is that there's no way to predict who's still going to be available. There's nothing close to a consensus about the end of the first round or the second round so it's a complete toss-up about who's going to be there for our two picks. Considering how many second rounders are out of the NBA in 5 years, you really just have to pounce on whoever slipped whether they fill a need for you or not. We've got two chances to get lucky. I think Kyle Weaver and Bill Walker could be good players if they're still there. Joey Dorsey is a solid roster guy. Davon Jefferson has first-round talent. But all those guys could go in the first round too.

I think it shows the depth of this draft when you have guys being mentioned like Weaver and Walker being there in the second round. Weaver is and interesting choice, and the Kings could do a lot worse in the second round.

If we're going to take a Euro with one of our 2nd rounders and leave him there a few years, I'd love to take Rodrigue Beaubois. He's a French PG, 6-1, very quick and athletic with a huge wingspan but not very strong at the moment.
Very nice shooting form. Has ability to be a very good defender. Came out of nowhere this year and is a hard worker. Seems like a really nice kid, too.

Here's a short video of his workout with the Blazers; http://youtube.com/watch?v=kZUN5dRKNdk&feature=related

There's a chance he could go undrafted, in which case I'd like him as an UDFA. I'd still prefer to draft him though so we have his rights.

He declared for this year's draft?

I think so. Maybe he backed out. He worked out for Blazers anyway, and in Hudsons workout video there was a notice all through the video saying he had returned to school. It didn't say that for Beaubois'. Maybe I'm wrong though, as I don't see him appearing on any mocks.

DX is reporting we'll take Mike Taylor with one of our 2nd rounders. Don't know a whole lot about him, but heard reports that he played well in workouts.

so drafting 2nd rounders would mean that Kenny thomas would be put in the injured list as one of our drafts plays.... ?

maybe this will be enough to force him to opt out or something.... i havent given up on SAR yet. he can still produce and hasnt been a problem coming off the bench... KT is the one im worried about (isnt every one :D)

well i sure hope this draft goes well

I'm a little disappointed with these picks. Ewing Jr. and Singletary weren't likely to get drafted at all...wish we could have gotten something better or traded these...training camp fodder.
