Robert Duvall made his first movie with Gregory Peck and then lived long enough to make a movie with the basketball player Juancho Hernangómez
Sports tidbit on Duvall - Babe Ruth hit 149 home runs after he was born.

One of those ancient history is recent history things, kinda cool.

Not sure why bluesky link is not resolving correctly, if it doesn't work it is the great Reverend reading Green Eggs and Ham on SNL after Dr. Seuss had passed.

Rev. Jackson had some great moments on SNL, particularly "The Question is Moot" which I think always gives me a giggle every time I see someone type "mute point" - sorry did you not see this great Jesse Jackson sketch?!?

Wow ... all my years as a Johnny Thunders fan I never knew he apparently loved Jesse Jackson. Saw a quote today where he said the only person fit to be President was Rev. Jackson and assumed it was just click bait but after googling I found this story which is new to me.

Something batman said.

But I will say this as someone who definitely was neutral on account of not liking either program. ND should have been given the championship in 93/94.

James Tolkan, who played Mr. Strickland in Back to the Future, died on Thursday at 94.

A character actor who seemed to be everywhere in American movies during the 80s, appearing in 30 films from 1981-1991 including the BttF trilogy and as Commander Stinger in Top Gun.

Clearly, no one could accuse him of being …

A slacker.

Don't recognize the name but definitely knew who he was as soon as a partial credit list was given. RIP.

Ted I think is the embodiment of quitting while you're ahead and not becoming that batman villain meme.

Everyone looks back at him fondly because he got out 25 years ago. They remember WCW, TBS, TNT and forget Elliot Carver from Tomorrow Never dies had to be at least half based on Ted. Now "it's Rupert Murdoch!" is what they say, but no way you see that in 98 or 99 and think it isn't Turner/CNN.

Anyways, despite my overall opinion on benevolent billionaires, I'm happy he is remembered fondly today because he did bring me much joy in the late 80s and the 90s. His weird love of wrasslin kept a viable alternative to WWF past the Hogan/cartoon era expire date. Sadly looks like another merger involving his former networks is going to rock the current alternative in a time where it looks like we need it the most.

I would definitely prefer a Ted Turner type over the current class of billionaires we have running around... On the other hand, he did more or less invent the 24-hr news cycle that has melted all our brains, so **** him for that.

On balance, though, Ted was a better uber-wealthy guy than most. Plus, pro wrasslin' in America probably dies in the nineties if he doesn't buy WCW, so there's that.

RIP Billionaire Ted.

The best thing beyond WCW is that when he cashed out he didn't seem to spend the next quarter century trying to become a trillionaire. It is nice to think that at some point someone can say "enough" and not try to extract every ounce of blood from the stone.

Damn. Turner now Cox?

Gotta say those Braves in the 90s were something else. Their worst to first story seemed like the biggest thing ever at the time (I am sure no internet helped that) and while I wouldn't root for them to win the pennant, it always seemed an easy choice to root for them vs. the Yankees or whatever team wasn't the Red Sox or A's in the World Series.

Bobby Cox was a fixture.

Third all-time in games over .500 as a manager, first all-time in playoff appearances.

Also first all-time in ejections, and it's not very close.

RIP legend
