[NFL] 2025-2026 Thread

Imagine your 200 million dollar QB getting outplayed by Sam Darnold.

Is he? Or is our defense gassed from giving up a billion rush yards and he's just doing the Jimmy G thing? Also is it really that great when you me and Tetsu could probably generate the same level of pass rush as these guys are right now?

Pretty weak performance all around from coaching, especially. No urgency in about as big a game as you can get in the regular season

Pretty weak that the Niners closed the season with three consecutive short weeks. NFL did them a little dirty there.

Monday night, Sunday night, Saturday night.

Not saying it has anything to do with this crapshow at all…but just an observation and unfavorable scheduling for a fragile team

a little behind him or not, That should’ve been an easy grab for CMC

That’s game
I thought the worst call of the game for Shanahan was just a play earlier - 1st and goal at the Seattle 9 for 2 yards up the middle - you gotta go for broke there to the endzone - you're already well in FG range !!FAIL!! .....that said also McCaffrey has to let it go that he's not going to make the endzone there in order to secure the catch at the 2 - he got greedy......it cost em getting a necessary tightening of the game.....reminded me of McCaffrey's fumble in the Superbowl on the 1st drive.

How can Shanahan and co not design plays for Purdy's movement? - its as plain as day Purdy's better on the move. Purdy with his diminutive height and semi-average arm strength should not be sitting in the pocket - he often missed Kittle or McCaffrey out right on 3 or 4 outlet plays.

On defense,
Mainly Green cannot be allowed to start next season ( or the playoffs this season - start Stout at minimum), and really Green shouldn't be on the team - he's not pro level quality. A total whiff by their seocndary coaches and scouts.

The Eagles now are very pleased to have a nice blueprint fot he 49ers next weekend - season over. Great play from Mac Jones and really overachieving with the injury level this season. 48ers have alot of work to do with personnel roster modifications.

To be fair, I don’t think the Niners ever really intended to make a run at the title this season but just sorta got there after the trade deadline by getting insanely hot.
The season belongs to Jones for the 49ers; the 49ers are the NFC version of the Patriots, taking full advantage of their schedule......good on them. Will be cheering the Rams or Bears vs. the Seahawks. It will be very annoyng if we have an Eagles/Seahawks NFC Championship Game though- but I htink luckily the Seahawks will get the Rams in the Divisional. Go Bears, Go Rams, Go 49ers (notgonna.....notgonnaworkhereanymore)

Shanahan is sometimes a f@#%ing idiot.
Look, there's a reason he's a coach and I ... am not. But he's got a playbook that for the first 3/4 of the game looked like something high schoolers would use. Then in the 4th he brings in the good stuff and the team starts moving down the field. It's mind-boggling. Let's start with that next time, shall we? He does this sometimes and it makes me want to yell at the TV.

And I agree about putting Purdy on the move sometimes. Get him rolling outside the pocket and get some different looks.

Shanahan is Shanahan’s greatest enemy. We’ve seen it time and time again across multiple franchises and multiple Super Bowls.

Dude is the guy who chokes. It’s who he is. Will he eventually be this era’s Andy Reid and shed that label? Maybe… but he also will never have Prime Mahomes to bail him, so he’ll probably be a really damn good coach up until exactly you need him to keep being that guy when it all goes out the window because he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the building.

Feel free to hammer Shanahan....
The asnwer is he's grasping for straws.......in some fairness he's totally handicapped against a better prepared Seahawks coaching staff with a better defensive game plan - Seahawks now have both a strong secondary and strong defensive line.....the Seahawks were pressing up all the time, and the 49ers do not have a deep threat receiver to make them pay, nor is the 49ers offensive line top shelf either. Special teams had a poor game. Shanahan was trying to probe the middle way too much with meager run play after meager run play - it was pretty much shut down. Purdy had a poor game - neutralized - right back to bad habits of waiting to move. Purdy's a good QB - but he was soundly beaten - remember Xmas vs the Ravens a couples years ago? Purdy has his limits. Pearsall and Williams not playing, hurt some too.......On defense, Green is terrible - his cover skills are holding and pass interference - and refuses or at least doesn't know how to turn his head whatsover. I can't fathom what the coaching staff sees at all. Stout should at least be starting LCB (for now).. 49ers are in need of LCB and SS - Brown and Pinnock are 2nd rate - not as bad as Green but not good. 49ers are about to be stymied and dispatched by the Eagles defense who are looking back to form unfortuhnately. Honestly I think the Bucs would beat them as well.....it would likely be worse if in the AFC. This year, both the Rams and Seahawks profit and yield better play from better drafting than the the 49ers organization - its comes to fruition for them. 49ers are injured and have quite few holes in talent out there. Full strength the team would have a closer shot.
Grades for game? 49ers Offense F, Defense C+, Special Teams D+ - Seahawks Offense B-, Defense A, Special Teams C-

That looked like a Tomsula coached offense.

I'm not really sure if it was Shanny's fault or not. Nothing worked last night, no matter what plays were called. They had that look of a really bad offense with an emergency QB in because nearly every play outside of that one drive was within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. That's how we looked when guys like Pickett and Dorsey were out there back in the day.

Biggest surprise to me was the defense held their own out there. Even though Seattle should have scored closer to 20, that was a straight up win for the D.

Yeah the defense deserves a bit of credit for playing somewhat better than their average. But the Special teams - was pretty poor. Versus a top pass rush Purdy cannot think that he can sit back in the pocket. If the throw isn't there at elapsed second 2.5, he needed to get moving and that was his failure - he was either overstimating his scramble or underestimating theie rush......same difference.

I refuse to give the defense any credit when that 3rd and 17 play was a thing they gave up. Nullifies anything they might have done positively.

Just an abysmal game from everyone.

Consider the 49ers defense held the Seahawks same points total of the 1st game in which they eeked out the win....that 3rd and 17 was awful, and so was their run defense for much of the night.....losing Winters will hurt, but I thought the Mustafa getting juked in the open field by Charbennet was pretty close to the 3rd and 17 play - Walker I'd understand, but not Charbennet. That was inferior.
