[NFL] 2025-2026 Thread

Jimmy G catching the world’s biggest strays over last the last couple of weeks lol
This is high praise from Bourne - he's equating fundamentally Purdy as an origin of offensive energy out there.....2 areas Purdy may lead all other QBs at are his throwing anticipation and as mentioned medium throw accuracy. Bourne's been another good story this year for the 49ers....Purdy also up there in pocket presence, but not an NFL leader. Having McCaffrey surely is a giant aid to Purdy (and of course Jones this year) out there....Robinson has turned into a very good power runner too aiming for the 4 yards. But losing Williams is a big blow to the run game, and vs the Seahawks it could prove to be too much.

"Elite scramble drill" - from Bourne; and you heard it from Purdy's high school commentators too when Purdy was 18 yro - "where Purdy is dangerous". Shanahan actually is designing short delay plays with misdirection - that are stumping the front 6 on teams.....you just need about a 1 to 2 sec advantage for the 4 yard play. One of the other issue for Purdy in the pocket is his height and defenders ball batting up - moving helps solve this problem as well.....again .it all boils down to Purdy shifting gears and moving - play Purdy to his strength --- really F#$k the pocket with Purdy - on second 3 from snap, the internal timer must go off - TIME TO MOVE.....this year Purdy has the opportunity to carry the team, and as mentioned by analyst - the 49ers are only going as far as Purdy plays well. Lots of pressure - but here's that big contract earned (or not).

What a great test and prep for the playoffs trying to outmatch the revamped Seahawks defense. I have my doubts but will try to keep optimistic. In the regular season, the 49ers losses, 3/4 of them were to high end defenses. Having a 'dress rehearsal' game vs Seahawks whose defense is on par with Eagles and Rams are exactly what Purdy and the offense need to examine how to improve for the playoffs without getting bounced. The offense has the overwhelming burden too, but the 49er defense must somehow pickup its play and find ways to improve team chances - 49ers defense are looking like 'C-/D+' level right now and have to get up to B- level but that may not be possible with current personnel. Will see how it shakes out Saturday night......a bye week as at stake -credit to 49ers QBing and Shanahan who will likely lock COY if they beat the Seahawks.

I see the Saturday game is on ABC - ugh......our OTA reception is s@#$ with ABC. when windy/rainy And of course Disney too f@#T#n stingy to put up a stream on Disney+ for ESPN as Parmount does for CBS.....may bite the bullet and pay the $1 to SlingTV if its available again.

Meanwhile the Cowboys just cut the CB Diggs brother.

Let’s get him. Surely couldn’t be worse than the scrubs we’re running out there now.

Diggs straight up just copying the Antonio Brown “Abuse rather than just paying someone who works for you what you owe them” playbook

His next team is lucky as h*ll that Jerry sucks ***.

I’ve read a lot of “He’s an otherwise awful corner who’s just pretty good at gambling for INTs” as his scouting report… is that accurate?

True or not, it’s better than being an awful CB who has zero ball skills like everyone on the Niners not named Lenoir.

I wouldn't necessarily say that I agree with his scouting report. He does have his moments, and flashes of greatness.

Probably should specify that this refers to Stefon Diggs, the wide receiver on the Patriots not Trevon Diggs the cornerback just released by the Cowboys. Or Taye Diggs the stage and screen actor who used to be married to Idina Menzel, for that matter. For anyone skimming through and wondering where to direct their outrage and disgust.

Going into the last game of the season I find it surprising the 49ers are 4th favored AND the Seahawks are favored 1st for SuperBowl .....I think the Rams screwing around has now figured in, but still..... Interesting the division has 3 of top 4 favored teams favored- I wonder was there ever a season where a division's 4 teams were all in the top 5 favored? That almost doesn't possible statistically and schedule-wise....it kinda happened in the NFC North this year.....you could make a case that division is on par as the Cardinals were awful this year.

I think I saw a stat that said that if the Rams win their next game it will be the first time ever that three teams from the same division have won 12 games in the same year. The NFC West is TOUGH.

Part of that is the extra game - but mainly its the fact the Cardinals are down near bottom - if the Rams lose the final game to the Cardinals the Rams are backing into the playoffs.....the loss to Falcons surprised little less though after the Bucs game showed the Dirty Birds had some punch.

Mac pretty the perfect backup quarterback:
Good enough at football that you can still win with him. Bad enough that he’s not going to cause a QB controversy. Overgrown Labrador retriever personality that gets him over with the fans.
This year he's proven that the 49ers shold lock him up on a more-the-fair salary going forward signing for the team's offense. Thanks to his play, the 49ers are in tbe playoffs - more so than any other one player save McCaffrey. If Shanahan and Lynch want to keep rolling, extending Jones would be one of the more significant business signings - however my guess is another team will be willing to poach him with big bucks similar to Darnold. There's a disclaimer - doesn't much work for Jimmy G...... If you're a former starter, come to Shanahan and he'll resuscitate your ailing career (except for Jimmy G - no hope :)..... kidding aside - See what happens though

Keeping in mind that they have an extra game on the schedule. Did any division have 3 teams win 11 games, when it was a 16 game schedule?

Mac signed a two year deal last offseason. Unless the 49ers trade him or he holds out for more money, he'll be back on the roster next year.
