2023 NBA Draft Omega Thread

On the one hand, he's a small school guy. On the other hand, he had 3+ stocks (steals or blocks) per game over the last couple of years of his career as a 6'7" forward.

Maybe the Kings can just sign TJD

There is two picks(57 and 58) that will be forfeited so he may be an undrafted free agent

Slawson is a terrific and versatile defender. The offense is more suspect. Basically our own version of Thuybulle. You could do a lot worse in the second round. Best case is he becomes a Herb aJones type.

Ok I was hyped on TJD, but Slawson has a good archetype.

Small-school guy, but fits that mold of a super super versatile 3/4 wing defender. 6'7 but with a 6'11 wingspan. He gets after you defensively and will give you just a pinch of shot-blocking. Also adds another wing passer with 18.3%, 23.3%,19.9% Ast rates in his last 3 college seasons. His ability to create gives him some differentiation offensively from the typical scrub 3/4 wing types that flame out every year. He's got a comfort level with the ball in his hands for sure.

Big knock are the small-school, he's going to be 24 when the season starts. But if everything broke right for him, his archetype absolutely can find NBA minutes. Maybe like a Ja'Sean Tate?

Ugh, TJD was the pick imo. Just an absolute college dominator at a huge position of need that we now need to go spend on in FA.

If Slawson's skillset translates beyond the small college level, he's a major find. If they don't, I'd take TJD.
We'll see it soon enough. Once training camp and summer league start, we'll see if he's ready to be in the rotation. Seems like if he is indeed serviceable, he's NBA-ready physically, right?

Do you guys think Monte was going to take Kris Murray and then quickly pulled the plug and traded the pick when Portland took Kris?
I'm sure a trade was lined up beforehand, but man, would it have been bad (here) if Keegan's brother was drafted just to be traded.
