2023 NBA Draft Omega Thread

He's sorta like a defensive oriented Tyrese. No where near the offensive mind/skillset of Tyrese but his BBIQ is really good and he's a versatile defender. He shot better this season but yeah I'm not quite convinced that's real. Dude's a winner though.

I think the ESPN guys compared him to Josh Hart and that might not be a bad comp (I was barely paying attention when they were talking about the pick).

I was frustrated when he was mocked to us at 24 but at 38, that's a really good deal.
I think it’s clear that TD is likely gone.

Ironically, the two guys we drafted then traded would have been an ideal draft for me so I'm not thrilled with what's haippened here either. Hopefully it'll all make sense in the end. Monte seems like he knows what he's doing so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's his job to lose after all.

(It also could be that the Oakland A' s leaving has reset my barometer for how bad things could be. Losing a draft pick barely merits a yawn in comparison.)

My guess is that Monte and his team simply compared the talent level and deemed this year's rookies not enough for them to spend equity on that he wouldn't have been able to find comparable talents in the free agency otherwise.

I could always be wrong.

The Kris pick made sense to me as a win now mode to just provide a good asset for them to run with Dame
I like the moves for the Blazers. Rupert has some serious high upside and Kris is the solid, won't blow up probably but won't bust either safety to him. If the Blazers don't give into the rebuild with the universe giving them this kind of start then I don't know what to say. That with the haul they'll get for Dame is something that would make a Kings fan cry after all the years of toiling if they don't give in lol.

Despite his award Monte hasn’t proven himself in this league…. He could have a deal or he could think he has a deal and is being played yet again like in the other instances.

1) if it’s the first and he gets a a top line free agent then it’s a great move.

2) if he got played again and signs/over pays Kuzma or gets nothing than he is the league sucker….

We shall see what happens…..

I actually saw the Kris pick as evidence they weren't going to rebuild.

I really think they are going to trade Scoot for Zion.

I would have traded Dame ages ago I don't know wtf they're doing

This is just some of the wackiest stuff ever

This could not be more wrong lol.

Getting the Kings to 48 wins and a 3 seed. Taking the defending champs to 7 games. Ended the 16 year playoff drought. How is that not proving himself???

Now, he certainly has to show he can take this team to the next level. From a good playoff team to an actual title contender. But he's certainly earned the time to prove that.

I don't normally like Redick but I am enjoying his reactions to some of the stupid stuff these girls are saying.

"So JJ, as an average shooter yourself, what would be your advice to.....?"

Man GO GET TJD.

Just sort of realized we 1 big on the roster.

Lyles UFA
Len UFA
Metu UFA
Hold Queta's RFA rights, but... meh. Hasn't played NBA minutes
Traded Richaun Holmes.

Not only is this great value, but it fills a tremendous need.

Would be a good move. I was advocating for him at #24.

This does make me think we're going to use some of that cap space on Naz Reid though.

I never really discussed TJD here because I didn’t really like him as a prospect. Tweener big who doesn’t shoot at all and makes a living in the post… not many in the NBA outside of maybe Sabonis. I would’ve declared this draft a dud if we took him at #38… but at #54? Sure go crazy
