What is his free throw percentage? Any indication he can learn?

55%, but I'm not sure how much we can gleam from that with his usage rate being so so low. 61% from 2, 55% FT (1.6 attempts/game),61% TS. He just has no confidence whatsoever in the jumper right now, only took 5 3's all season and 9 shots outside of 10 feet.

But, kid is 22 and seems to be an extremely hard-worker. The jumper form is not good, but I don't think it's like MKG level of broken.

Well I like that the form is bad. At least gives you something to fix.

I have to say, the Lakers dismantling their league best defense for traffic cones on D that clog the paint for Bron and AD is a really welcome sight.

There are a few teams whose off-seasons are just so mind-bogglingly WTF in nature. I mean, I expect the Knicks to make their usual slate of "What in god's name are they doing?!" kinda moves. The Pelicans have been poorly-run for a long time now, and it's unsurprising to me that they've made some disastrously awful moves. And the Lakers have been a deeply short-sighted franchise since before Kobe's retirement, but it seemed like their front office overhaul was starting to yield an approach to roster construction that's about more than just surrounding superstar players with over-the-hill brand name veterans who fail to shore up team needs. I think the Malik Monk signing was solid for them, and it's the kind of marginal move they should be making. Everything else they've done, however, is just... shockingly bad.

My bad. I somehow looked at his 2pt% instead of his ft%.

Without some move on the perimeter or significant growth by Bagley, King, Metu I don’t see us escaping the 9-12 hell hole we have been in.

Watched a lot of Boston last year and Thompson sucks. He isn’t going to be better on a team struggling more than Boston. Mitchell could be great but he is unlikely to be better than Wright was his Rookie year. Len isn’t moving the needle.

we need impact wings over 6’ 7” and they are really hard to find.

Again, I want to gamble on a potential defensive unicorn. Minny was 5 points better defensively with him on the floor (112 DEF rating On, 117 Def rating off). he's overall ranked 11th on D-LeBron stat. He's overall ranked 19th in the NBA in Defensive Raptor. He's got an amazing motor and finds a way to be impactful without taking touches from your star players. He's 6'9 with a 7'1 wingspan and tremendous athleticism.

He can't shoot, but you find ways to work around that on offense if he helps you fix your historically bad defense.

For comparison

Bagley:

D-Raptor: -0.5 (153rd in the NBA)
D-LeBron: -0.57 (377th in the NBA)
net Def Rating: +1.8 (Defensive rating 1.8 points worse with Bagley on the floor)
DBPM: -2.8

Vanderbilt
D-Raptor: +2.9 (16th in the NBA)
D-LeBron: +2.44 (11th in the NBA)
net DEF rating: -5.5 (Defensive rating 5.5 points better with Vandy on)
DBPM: 1.0

Bagley having an inconsistent 35% 3pt jumper worth this defensive gap? Defensive stats are of course noisy and still not totally predictive, but when basically everything shows Vanderbilt as a stud and the eye test matches what the numbers are showing.. there's something there.
