2009-10 Kings draft position thread

Wow, we have a shot at the third spot! Awesome. This losing streak may suck but its doing wonders for our draft chances. Go and win another game GS!

Man, if we get the 3rd spot, we might actually have a shot at John Wall.

Even if we just hang on to 4th, we'd still have an 11.9% chance of landing the first pick. And, as down as some have been on the idea of a Wall/Evans backcourt, I have to say that I'd take it in a heartbeat.
I still say Turner over Wall. However, if we get Wall, it would be interesting if we can flip him for Cousins/Favors and an unprotected first rounder next year.

I don't believe Wall and Evans will work and I'm not as high on Wall as I used to be.

So if Turner went first, and we had second pick, you wouldn't even be tempted to try Wall out in a "very rich man's Beno" sort of role?
It would depend on what we could get for him on draft night. If it's not enough, then sure, try him out. I'm pretty sure it won't work though.

Kingster

Hall of Famer
I think Wall could work great. Wall and Tyreke are talented enough that they can play with anybody. Maybe next year, or at the most two years from now, they might be challenged because they will be improving their outside shooting, but if you believe that over time they'll improve in that area, there's no reason they can't coexist.

I see the possibility of Tyreke's game evolving considerably over the next couple of years - more off the ball movement, more post ups, more taking wide open outside shots off the pass. It makes my mouth water thinking about Wall and Tyreke. I can see it now. Two awesome defensive backcourt players, both who are excellent rebounders. Wall gets the rebound and streaks up the floor with Tyreke at his side. Are you going to stop THAT? Or Tyreke gets the rebound and streaks with Wall at his side. Are you going to stop THAT? Holy Moly. What a terror of a backcourt that would be. Look at the incredible wide open looks those guys would generate in set up offenses. Heck, the defending team would pack the paint so much it would be ridiculous. Greene and Casspi would be sitting out there at three point line with nobody within 15 feet of them. Hawes would be able to contemplate the next 3 elections before taking a 20 foot shot. Wall is the "risk" I'd want to take.

we better lose to clippers tomorrow.. then we will have good chance of ending at 3 spot... or at least 6 spot...Tomorrow is gonna be a big one!! everyone pray for lin!!

Well, so far Washington got a lin over Orlando, and (insignificant) NYK got one over Indiana. So no joy in either of those games. Detroit is also down by 6 with a few minutes left to play against Atlanta. But Philly leads Miami by 4 with 6.5 minutes to play... GO PHILLY! And GSW are up by 16 over Minny with a minute left in the 3rd. So, with luck, we might get close to half of our wishes.

YEAH!

Come-from-behind woss by the Pistons! I love it!

EDIT: And, with a lot of help from Stephen Curry, Nellie is becoming the wosingest coach. New rankings shortly.

Our Clipper game is reeeeally gonna stress me out. I don't see anyway that they show up to play us.

Next I'm worried about the 76ers. I absolutely do not want to drop lower than them... and if we beat the Clips with 3 games still left in the year, I would like some more padding cause ya know how we do with ties...

What a choke job by Detroit!! Two games in a row that they definitely should have lon and they wossed them both. :D

I hate being tied! I hope we lin tomorrow. Also, Minny has a very good chance of landing the number 1 pick. But if they do, do they pick Wall? Another PG, after drafting Flynn and Ricky Rubio?

I'd take the risk with a Wall and Evans backcourt. There's just too much talent between those two and talent wins games in this league. Both of them look like unselfish players so that will help. Drafting should always be about taking the best player available (BPA) and not based on team needs. Just ask Detroit. They could have had Melo, Wade, and Bosh.

It's fortunate for a team if the BPA and the player most needed by their team is one and the same. However, that doesn't happen often.

Cheering for losses is more nerve-wrecking than cheering for wins. I think if we can get past the Clippers who absolutely ruined us in the Durant-Oden draft we're looking good. Lose out, baby!

Wow... a couple weeks ago we were looking at the 6-10th pick

If we stay top 5 were guarenteed a shot at one of Wall, Turner, Cousins, Favors, or Johnson. Nice work, Kings.
Well that is if we stay top 5 in the draft, but even if we were to get 3rd spot in the lottery we could still fall to 6th (only 4% tho) and at 4th there is still nearly a 20% chance of falling below 5th. Just gotta hope for sole possession of that 3rd spot so we can basically be assured top 5 and actually a 70% chance of a top 4 pick!

The #4 spot is pretty sweet, too.

11.9% chance of 1st
12.6% chance of 2nd
13.3% chance of 3rd
9.9% chance of 4th
35.1% chance of 5th
16.0% chance of 6th
1.2% chance of 7th

So... 83% chance of top 5, and a better than 1/3 chance of top 3.

But I'm not too worried about how the ping pong balls will roll, right now. I'm worried about wosing to the Clips. :( Sixth place doesn't have nearly as appealing odds.
