anyone wanna explain to me why the kings are viewed as 3 times more likely to win it all than Memphis?

The griz seem to know what they're doing.

PF Gasol
SF Gay
SG Miller/Kinsey
PG Conley/Lowry

That is a very promising young team. Not too bad for dropping 3 spots in the lottery.

After you get past the top 7 or 8 those odds are all a joke anyway. I'll eat my hat if the Wizards win the title next year. 28-1 indeed. And the Hawks? At 150-1? How many gadzillion times would you have to replay the season to get that result? A helluva lot more than 150 let me tell you. Maybe they are factoring in mythological moves that could be made and hedging their bets in case KG suddenly shows up in one of those towns or some such. Not that they don't have the town/team KG is currently on mysteriously below the Kings too.

My guess is that Sacramento has a stronger fan base and due to their proximity to Vegas they take a payout hit because more fans are just as likely to make the bet at 50-1 as 150-1. It protects the casino just in case a miracle happens. Meanwhile the casino knows the Grizzlies won't win either but they aren't as attractive so they pump the odds a bit.

The bottom line is its all about the bottom line - when you get to long odds it has more to do with making the bet profitably enticing for the casino than actual probability.
