Another positive sight is the good number of big men 2010 draft. If we play the waiting game and don't do any trades for big this season, we can complete our big man rotation who are young and cheap.
And with roughly 18M off the payroll, we might be able to some all-star/borderline all-star to this team. And that's the smell of PLAYOFFS!
Barring any trade, here's my projected core for next season:
PG - Evans/Rodriguez or Udrih (whoever remains)
SG - Martin/Garcia
SF - Noc/Greene/Casspi
PF - Thompson/draft or FA
C - Hawes/draft or FA
With Martin and Garcia back on the lineup, we can beast on any backcourt with Evans eating most the PGs in the league.

I've mentioned before that that is 4/5 of the lineup of the worst team, and worst defensive team, in the league last year. That's not the magic formula. Nor is anything that has Green and Casspi figting for 10-12 minutes a piece behind loads of veterans with sub .500 career winning percentages. 'Fraid the cahnges will have to be a little more drastic than that. Do agree most of the core is here in town though. 1-2 trades, 1 FA, 1 draft pick (if not burned in the trades) should do it. THEN we can settle in.

The worst team and worst defensive team last year played 3 other starters more than half of the season and one which now becoming a reliable "bench" player on this team. And do note of piper coaches that were calling plays for this team last season, one of which is now coaching assistant in a 3-19 team also in the West.
We've only played 1/4 of the season and we are already seeing a very positive improvement on the kids and the team.
The same optimism on this one. Beno, Noc, and May(after December) are prime trade baits and KT(if not traded), SAR, and Mikki's expiring will land us that FA, and a sure first round pick on a draft full big man (Cousins is an intriguing and realistic prospect).

In 2 years Tyreke Evans will be a superstar. I dont know of many bad teams that have a superstar on the roster.

Hogwash....The title of this thread is about what this team could be in two years. By your own admission, you said Tyreke is the real deal, Jason Thompson has 18/10 potential and Omri can be a super-utility guy. Accounting for player growth over the next couple years, that's a pretty good start on the way to a 50 win team. Plus you didn't mention Greene who has been arguably the revelation of the season. And then there's Martin, Garcia, Udrih, Rodriguez all guys who have the potential to help the team either on the court or through a trade to balance the roster. PLUS, there's at least one more lotto pick on the way in a draft deep in quality bigs.
I agree with your assessment of Hawes, but you even bring up Brockman. As though people are touting Brockman as a key player on a future championship team. Dude's a 5-10 minute player tops and might not make the roster in two years. Personally I like his style, but WHO CARES?
So don't blow in with this realist stuff when you're just a party pooper...the glass can be half-full or half-empty, but don't tell me there's only a drop left and the water tastes bad.

As I said, a lot of things can happen.
Besides, did they really look that great when he was alive and playing well? Because to me it seemed like the second round was the most they could hope for.

Good things can happen too you know. Maybe we'll win the lottery from the 10th spot, maybe we pull off a super trade. Alls I'm saying is, as long as your expectations are reasonable, its just as likely that things turn out better than we imagine as it is they turn out worse than we imagine.
As for the Blazerrs they won 54 games last year and they're 14-9 this year. Obviously, they've got to be disappointed with where they are this year but I wouldn't write this young Blazers team off yet for this year, let alone for the next five. They're set up about as well as anybody, and their leadership seems savvy, which generally portends good results. Still plenty reason for their fans to be excited.
