Interesting stat..

Against the east we are 3-2 home 3-2 away. 6-4 record.

10 of the games are against eastern conference teams. Maybe we will win more than 7 that I predicted? Hrm.. A few back to backs don't help us, but there are a lot of inferior east teams in this month..

I say 10 - 5 because they will beat Cleveland and Dallas but they will split with Indy.
Wow, that IS thinking optimistic...Cleveland might be struggling, but Lebron still runs that team, and should be in rare form against us...and Dallas, well...they're Dallas, and still function as a team, way moreso than we do, Nowitzki, Terry, Howard's athleticism and overall abilities will be way to much for us to handle.

while i agree that they are more than capable of handing us a loss and even counted this game as such, with the way Dallas has been playing this season and Terry's recent shooting slump, i wouldn't completely rule out an upset.

But that 6-4 record against the east 2 of the losses came against Boston.. So against the East w/o counting Boston we are 6-2. We can pull some of those games out imo.

Considering there is a possibility we might be without Artest, I don't even want to think about January at this point. Or Sunday, for that matter...

The same. If Artest is out, along with Martin and Bibby, I don't want to think about the team's record. It certainly won't be fun to watch.

Or on the same court with Bibby.

If Beno shows that he cannot function off the bench and IF that problem is because of the limited minutes, I think he needs to get the minutes by sharing court time with Bibby. Beno is a true point guard and this offense benefits from him. He works better with Artest than Bibby can - maybe because Artest knows Beno is deferential to him. In fact PROBABLY because Beno is deferential. :)

This solution creates other problems doesn't it?

Theus has mentioned the Bibby-Beno-Martin lineup, but I think defensively the Kings would get killed by most teams with the Bibby-Beno backcourt. Then with Martin playing the 3 they probably would get killed even more defensively. They'd have to score about 115 a game to have a chance of winning. (Maybe that's the plan - to put more butts in the seats). Also, I don't think it's good for Martin's health to playing regularly against physical small forward's. With his slight frame, he already takes punishment playing the points and the two-guards.

This is where the true test of Head Coach Reggie Theus comes into play. A successful NBA head coach will find a way to keep players happy - or if not ecstatic at least willing to accept their roles. It isn't about the players at this point. It's about Reggie and his crew. THEY have to find the right way to balance the minutes for the players or suffer the consequences. And I think we can all remember back not so long ago to what happens when players are NOT happy with their head coach.

I disagree slightly. He's got to keep a core of players happy enough - the ones that will allow him to win. Douby, for example, is not one of the core, so he can be discarded. I think it's guaranteed that someone out of Bibby, Beno, Martin, Garcia, and Salmons is going to be unhappy. There just isn't enough minutes to go around. Theus's challenge will be to have the unhappy one(s) still play well, despite their unhappiness. The other factor is winning and losing. If Martin and Bibby come back, minutes dwindle, AND this team continues to lose, I'd be surprised if the grumbling doesn't come to the surface.

One other thing. Theus is playing this all wrong in my opinion. Instead of using Martin-Bibby as a semi-excuse, instead of increasing the expectations of the fans, and of the players when they do come back, I really think he should focus on the fact that what this team really needs is a low post scorer and defender and rebounder, and that Martin and Bibby are not going to help with that - i.e. it will be nice for them to come back, but it's not necessarily the savior to the season. Low expectations can be met, but higher expectations might create more problems down the line...

I think that's pretty much the same thing as "willing to accept their roles."

What do you predict we will go the first month of 08?

1-2 @ NY (W)
1-4 @ CLE (L)
1-5 @ CHI (W)
1-8 VS ORL (L)
1-10 VS MEM (W)
1-12 VS IND (W)
1-14 VS DAL (L)
1-16 @ TOR (L)
1-18 @ DET (L)
1-19 @ IND (W)
1-22 VS NJ (W)
1-23 @ LAC (W)
1-25 @ UT (L)
1-27 @ SEA (W)
1-30 VS CHA (W)

9-6 Is my prediction. Just my guess. What do you think the guys will do next month?

Well, we are 4-3 - you are on track so far....

We are 6-4. I guess the few that said only 3 wins are out. The ones that said 6 wins we are there now with 5 games left. looks like 9-6 is reachable with NJ, LAC, SEA, UTAH, and CHAR left. Who knows maybe we can sweep those 5 and hit 11-4

well unless we dont win again, my guess is toast. I'm ok with being wrong here....i think (at least until I figure out my "tanking" vote.

On Wed morning 23 Jan the Kings are 7-4 with 4 games left this month:
@ Clippers
@ Jazz
@ Sonics
Bobcats home

If they keep momentum and win out, they go 11-4 for the month and end up at .500!!

I could see us going 2-2 in the last 4 games this month. 9-6 is definitely an overachievement...and possibly a mild miracle, even. NEXT month on the other hand...:D

Those who predicted 9-6 are:

atxrocker, chelle, Purple Reign, sactownkings1023, Slohoop, VF21

Sorry, KIB. But the poll doesn't show you making that selection. Your post said "9-6 or even 10-5" but you didn't vote.

;)

Ahhh, give Circa_1985 a correct guess vote. He did say they could go 2-2 which is exactly what they did to get to 9-6
