Showcasing them only hurts chances anyone wants them.

At this point, I have to agree. We were the only team that wanted most of them to begin with and they may be getting numbers but with the kind of game tape they're contributing to go along with the numbers we'll be lucky if anyone wants them. This is already a code red situation -- we should just cut our losses and play whoever gives us the best chance to win. I strongly suspect that's Ellis, Carter, Clifford, and Reynaud.

Sac media actually doing a pretty decent job on the Keon issue. Questions remain about what is stopping Coach from sitting his vets and putting in the players who exemplify his vision.

So there's a "logjam" at the position, but as one of the worst defensive teams in basketball, why is there no effort to make sure the best defensive player on the team gets on the floor? He then laments how the guys forget what they're doing out there and lose focus. So why are they getting this incredibly long leash if they continue to screw up on defense?

Pretty easy to see how he has the job. He's an excellent talker.

But why isn't any of this clicking with the guys? Domas/LaVine both brought up "Personal" and LaVine in particular stated that it isn't Rudy Gobert's job to go score 30. Could be a shot at roster construction, but could also be a shot at how this team is being used. Not getting the guys on the floor who can take the tougher defensive assignments and balance the lineup out there.

Unless there is another believable reason, it's because they are the highest paid players by far. The owner and manager want their biggest investments to continue to have every chance to shine

He had a chance after training camp to back up his defense mantra. At this point it’s just total bullcrap to imply players will be held accountable for lack of defensive intensity. He’s got to know that. At the very least he could be scaling back his “star” players’ time to no more than 30 min a game.

To be a 3rd option.

Creates such a toxic work environment as well, like a boss who preaches things have be done a certain way, holds half the team accountable and then promotes the couple guys he goes to Friday lunch with...

Oh, and by no means am I a Westbrook fanboy, but is it not weird that our best player for the past week+ gets 15 min this game? Why is it a given that schroder is the starter? He’s a journeyman point guard who does everything worse than Russ. Not that I really care, but it’s a little nuts to me that Russ goes to an afterthought this game.

Said the same thing. I thought Precious was one of the few bright spots tonight and he played very well, but we've pretty much made a concentrated effort to feature Russ as our lead offensive option the last 5-6 games or so. And he just went back to a small role (played badly, but still). It was a staunch difference to how we've used him for most of the year.

Just another data point speaking to how directionless we truly are. Spend most of the year building up Russ... only to bench him for a guy who got here a week ago? And then he barely plays? Not that I ever agreed with Russ-ball, but that has been the plan up until this point

I’m starting to think the team is purposely not playing Keon to keep his value down in free agency. Divincenzos camp accused the Kings of doing the same to him a few years ago

I mean, maybe but Keon isn't really going to be a player that lights up the statsheet anyway. He's started, he's a 3 and D role player. Cats out of the bag on that one. If a team wants him they'll do what they have to or as much as they can. He's probably somewhere around a MLE type player to a team that values him, playing him 30+ minutes probably doesn't change that much. The issue is moreso the two timelines and the one that should be left standing when the dust settles is getting pushed down. The smart play is simple. Get the vets out if you can, give Keegan a chance to star when he gets back so you can finally see what he is, and develop these young guys.

DiVincenzo was different because that involved a qualifying offer, and truthfully I think his agent was just an idiot. Kings really wanted him but he was coming off an injury. This was before the new CBA and nobody was signing their QOs. He screwed over his client by burning bridges.

I don't know what's up with Keon. I am still hoping we're just playing the guys who we hope to move in front of him but there's always a chance that moving Keon might be the cost of doing business to get off a big contract.

I fully expect, one way or another, Keon will not be on the team next year. They either do not value him, they trade him, they pee him off, or Keon just makes a wise life decision and gets out while he still can.

If they can trade Dennis and Deebo at the deadline (the two guys whose contract and value have the most appeal) that frees up close to 70 minutes of playing time for the younger guys. (Assuming guards that need to play aren’t coming back). To me, that’s the path.

He's had some big games when he got full playing time. Hit (9) and (8) 3's in games last season. Stat sheet has looked real good, especially factoring in the advanced stats that he had, when the team was almost always better with him on the floor

How does Schröder have any appeal?
