This news hit me harder than I thought a celebrity death could.
My earliest clear memories are from when I was six years old. I already had a Purple Rain poster hanging on my bedroom wall. I literally have no memory of a time in my life I wasn't a massive Prince fan.
So New Orleans, then.
Huh?
Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you said three months of fall, two months of winter, one month of the most gloriously damn beautiful spring that exists anywhere, and six months of why-am-I-melting-and-holy-$@&*-what-is-that-giant-thing-flying-at-me.
I think gentrification has innocuous enough roots: people take an interest in cheap and usually interesting parts of town and begin making small improvements. That's positive. But it always gets out of hand. And when people from a city/neighborhood can no longer afford to live in that...
Comedy Central is streaming on their website all 2500+ episodes of Jon Stewart's run on The Daily Show from now until his last episode in August. I've been enjoying revisiting a show I've always loved but have never rewatched.
Neither, really. Sequel, but without a direct narrative connection to any of the films in the original trilogy. It functions more like a Bond film in that way. However, it's helped by having the original creator/writer/director at the helm.
They've only released the titles through episode 11, so that could be why it doesn't list them all. Wikipedia has air dates listed for all 14, though, and AMC announced back during the sixth season that the final would be fourteen episodes split to air seven and seven.
There are seven episodes of Mad Men airing this year, not four. This final split season is almost as many episodes as Breaking Bad aired on the same schedule.
It's white and gold.
It's always been white and gold, it's only ever been white and gold.
It's so white and gold that the whole debate annoys me. The fact it's a debate annoys me.
White and gold. The image is back-lit, the dress is in shadow, the yellow light theory is hooey.

"I Put a Spell on You" -- She + Him
"Across the Universe" -- Fiona Apple
"Compared to What" -- John...
I'll put together a more formal post tomorrow, but I don't want to leave everyone waiting until then. My last pick is:
"Fever" -- Sam Butera & The Witnesses, 1959
And to start the next round:
"Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" -- The Feelies, on Crazy Rhythms, 1980
Originally written by John Lennon and recorded by The Beatles, 1968
Not much to say about this one other than it's a cover I've always loved. And one of the few on...
Well, it's not quite early afternoon as promised, but I'm back to my good internet and ready to pick. To end the current round, I'm going local:
