We've made an offer to Monta?

Denial, anger and finally acceptance. Trying to stay positive. Don't kill my vibe.
I'm right there with ya, as much as I hate to admit it. I was up at 1:00 in the morning last night watching YouTube vids on Monta trying to figure HOW he could possibly be a fit. He IS a good mid range shooter, and although I like Tyreke 100 times more, Tyreke is gone and I've come to accept Monta is a better shooter when under good, controlled coaching.

(I'm also saying this to JINX this whole Monta thing if you haven't caught on yet.)

Like all of you, I'm counting down to hopefully someone else signing him.

Hopefully the FO can think of a more creative/beneficial way to trade Hayes/Jimmer/MT/JT and amnesty Salmons. 2014 is shaping up to be a promising draft...acquiring even a late first-round pick gives us assets for moving up...Wiggins/Randle/Parker/Harrison on the mind.

He's averaged around 6 assists for his career...not bad. I think of him in the Parker/Westbrook mold. Attack lead guard. I think Pete'D/Malone like him because he can get his own shot, and especially at the end of shot clock situations.
You really haven't watched him play if you think assists make Monta a PG.

It would be particularly ironic if that ended up being what we did after all the mouthing about wanting to get more passing. He is a straight chucker. A "PG" in the mode of Iverson or Arenas if that's what you call him.

It would also mean we traded Reke for a backup PG, given that Monta's money is coming from either Salmons or Thornton.

But I don't think that's what we are going to do. If we were to do this, it would literally be intentionally recreating the Reke dynamic, except with an older, smaller, chuckier, and more selfish player in Ellis, and yes it would squish the hell out of McLemore. We would go Vasquez/Ellis. Mac would end up on the bench. Then Ellis might play next to Mac for a few minutes while Vasquez rested.

I think they might be looking at who among Reke/ellis has the capability to play lead guard and be the general of the offense. Maybe they didn't believe Reke saw the floor or had the bball iq to do that..

I've probably watched Monta play 100's of times - I used to live in Oakland. He's a decent passer when asked to do so. He can be an attack guard if a system asks him to, imo. I'm not a fan of his overall, for the record.

Do you consider Westbrook and Parker chuckers? PG's? What? Monta put up less shots than Westbrook. Two more shots per game than Parker (Parker only in 66 games, but 5 minutes less a game). He was asked to be a "chucker" in MIL, and so he became one. (Can't believe I'm partially defending Monta).

Which would be a joke if they, or anyone aside from them, thinks Monta can play the lead guard for anybody but himself.

Like I say, Iverson, Arenas, here are your comparisons. completely dominate the ball to such a degree they pick up assists along the way, but they aren't running the team, they are running their own plays. Make IT look like Nash. EXACTLY what the front office hinted it wanted to do away with.

I'm starting to come to terms with signing Monta, which means it's probably not going to happen. There is no amount of complaining that is going to bring Tyreke back, so you have to do something to get some talent in here.

I agree that JT and Jimmer have trade value. Jimmer, mostly because of name. JT is the type of big that every playoff team could use. A hustle guy who gets his points without needing to have plays run for him in the offense and throws his body in there crashing the boards. I'm still hoping some combination of players and amnesty of Salmons can net Asik.
Why wouldn't we want this type of player? Honestly, I have no idea why everyone here wants to trade JT over PPat.

Taking a deeper look at Monta and found (not surprisingly) that his numbers skyrocketed with the acquisition of J.J. Reddick. I don't think you could pick a worse back-court partner for a player like Monta than Brandon Jennings in the entire NBA. That duo was destined to fail from the start. Hell, that whole team was destined to fail from the start. You have 3 incredibly efficient shooters (Reddick, Ily, Dunleavy) being wasted by watching Jennings and Monta chuck the whole game.

So, in theory, I do think Monta would be a bit better here playing with a guard rotation like Vasquez and McLemore+ a big like Boogie.
If you go back and look at his stats from previous years....not counting last year, there is a lot to like. Not a 3 point shooter but hits the mid range J and gets to the foul line. Gets decent amount of assists and steals. I'd really like the 3 guard rotation here with him and GV and BMc.

I really like JTs game. Not real popular on this board from what I've read recently, but I think every team needs/could use a JT. JT would be much more appreciated on a playoff caliber team as a role player than he is here. I threw him in the trade talk because of all the guys I think we are willing to trade, he's the one that could bring back some value.

This dumping on Vivek is, IMHO, not cool at all. It's kind of embarrassing to me, truth be told. I'd like to think Kings fans are better than this. That we do not sink to ridiculous insults against someone.
Ill get mad at PDA for stupid moves. But if anyone deserves a grace period or a get out of jail card for hand choosing a player we don't want, it's the guy that kept the kings in sac.

True, but if it was me I would keep him. He's a nice piece that can play PF and C and he's a decent defender/rebounder. He's good on the offensive glass too and getting garbage points. I would just assume keep him unless some deal comes that we cannot pass up.

Love JT, totally underrated on this board. Just a solid young big who puts it out on the floor night in and night out. Unfortunately if a sign and trade is lined up he will probably be one of our pieces of value

Ellis is one of the worst chuckers i've ever seen. His basketball IQ is just terrible.. He has all the talent in the world, enough talent too be a star. But his IQ is literally what stops him from reaching his potential.

He has no sense of a good shot vs a bad shot.. he just shoots no matter what. I will give him credit, when hes attacking the rim and kicking out to shooters hes not that bad of a player.. But he rarely does that and he gets caught up in firing contested jumpers so easily.

Prepare for a very frustrating season if we get Ellis, alot of 6-23 FG games... I cant wait too see how Demarcus reacts too Montas style...... It just spells trouble to me.

Ellis has the sixth worst player efficiency rating in NBA history among players who average at least 19 points per game.

At which point we will have, under our wonderful Denver/old Golden State group of numbnuts, transformed ourselves into a tiny team full of chuckers. Boogie will be in there alone with a bunch of tweener forwards.

After JT is anybody over 6'8?
No.

Next up, Nellie hired as an advisor.

because these Golden State boobs didn't seem to catch the fact that they, not we, were the worst run franchise in the NBA for a dozen year period from the late 90s until just the last couple of years.

Thhe main reason for Patterson over JT is because we need Patterson to spread the floor, especially with limited big offensive options.

Maybe the assumption they are operating on is that in order to get to where GSW IS we have to start where they WERE?

This. The paid professionals clearly have a very different view of Tyreke then some of us on this site have. Pretty sure the Pelicans are gonna play him at the three as well... might be the general view the league has of him. Monta is a 2/1... Reke might be more of a 3/2.
