We've made an offer to Monta?

Not to mention it is even more confusing since they supposedly see Ellis as this lead guard in the mold of Westbrook, Parker, etc, yet they traded Tyreke for a pure PG. So where is that supposed to leave Vasquez. Why would they not have traded Tyreke for a position of need if Vivek has really had Ellis in mind for some time, as reports have suggested.
That was a quote from Atlanta.

Funny, because we let a younger version of that who's a better all around player walk. Unless Monta comes far cheaper than 11M per, that line of thinking doesn't work.
My guess is Pete'D thinks Monta is a better halfcourt player than Reke. Can get his own shot, better off screens, better at the end of the clock situations. I dunno..

Any universe in which Ellis is a good fit for us at $10M+ per season is a universe in which Tyreke Evans is a better fit for $11M per season. Redundancy with McLemore, not a pass-first point, doesn't guard anybody, not a mature lockerroom presence, thinks he's the second coming of DWade. I can't even begin to fathom what our front office sees in Ellis.

He has to be thinking something like:
PG: Vasquez 34min, Monta 14min
SG: Monta 20min, McLemore 28Min

Thornton out, maybe Jimmer and IT out or fighting for garbage time

Well, we should forget about Tyreke because he has left and what has happened is done. Monta could provide a good second option, with Boogie being option one, and McLemore option three. Mbah a Moute could be the primary defender. And i don't see why some think it'd be a terrible defensive back court -- are you forgetting about McLemore's potential (and he's already a good defender).

This smells of Vivek's doing. No self-respecting "numbers guru" would be actively pursuing Monta

That's the thing though, evidence suggests it's what Vivek thinks in this case, not PDA. It was Vivek who placed the call to Monta when he opted out. It was Vivek who's been recruiting him. Is Vivek the one who should be making that decision and do you feel comfortable with our owner deciding who's the better half court player? I'm not comfortable with that.

It would mean we have an owner making judgements on player talent/ability within a system we haven't yet seen and a GM not recognizing his owner is most likely wrong.

I actually agree with Jamal here, I don't think this is a PDA move. It's a Vivek move going by what we know and I don't like that at all. Any GM worth his salt would tell his owner this isn't an option worth pursuing.

Good point, if Monta gets 24-36 hours to decide and we pulled Iggy's offer the same day due to him not giving us a yes quick enough. Different standards if you used to play for GS?

Iggy's offer was pulled, according to most pundits, because his agent misrepresented and inflated the amount and released it to be used to influence other teams.

Dont worry, Vivek has tons of basketball acumen. He coached his daughters team to the finals! Trust him!
This dumping on Vivek is, IMHO, not cool at all. It's kind of embarrassing to me, truth be told. I'd like to think Kings fans are better than this. That we do not sink to ridiculous insults against someone.

Hey, if Monta is the price we need to pay to make Vivek happy, and to have our team in Sacramento, I think we can live with it.

Anyways, I think they are looking for a 3 guards rotation, with BMC, Vasquez and maybe Ellis. Thornton can't play PG, so I guess that's why they want Ellis. For 16 minutes a game he can be a Westbrook type PG, and he can play with both BMC and Vasquez.
Of course we need to trade MT, and also IT if we can. I like the pizza guy, but there won't be enough minutes for him if we get Monta. Then, he's an expiring next year, and I doubt they want to give him the money he will ask for.
I still think we should find another SF, dumping Salmons (amnesty) and possibly a defensive backup C. JT, MT, IT, Jimmer and Hayes are our trade chips. Maybe not enough for what we need, but we never know.

+1. At least he has the acumen to build a company that makes billions and to save our Kings. We should just thank him for what he's done and is going to do for this team and community.

You don't think Monta and his agent are doing the same thing with Sac, ATL and Dal? Whether leaked or behind the scenes, that's the game, you use leverage to get a larger contract.

Agreee. +1, VF21

To be frank, Vivek can do whatever the hell he pleases with a team that HE bought. Just my $0.02.
