As most of us expected, Tyreke is not going to come cheap. People trying to slot him based on statistical production and what guys with similar numbers signed for are missing that teams around the league know that Evans has been horribly mismanaged by a terrible organization and that he has as much or more upside than anyone else in this weak free agent class. Very similar to Nic Batum's free agency.

And like Batum I think the Kings will be faced with a contract offer that is significantly overpaying Tyreke. Will they let him go elsewhere or hold their Jose and swallow an over the top deal. My guess is that PDA will NOT match at all costs. We'll see.
Baptism by fire for the new front office. I just hope they are as aware as they should be about the difficulty of recruiting high end FAs to Sacramento. None of them came from Laker-level franchises, but they could still make a devastating error by having an incomplete understanding not only of their players but also of the market they just took over two months ago.

That would make not wrapping him up last year look 10X worse.

We would be crazy not t o match any offer on let alone how much an asset reke is. If 17 teams want reke we could move the contract if it didnt work out with the kings and the new coach.

You don't invest $535 million in a market without knowing it's weaknesses

We have no idea what kind of offer, IF ANY, the Pelicans are gonna make to Evans. Tellem is a very shrewd agent, and is going to work this as hard as possible.
Look what they just gave up for Jrue Holiday. I think that sets the tone for how they are going to do business. DA reporting it's a big offer sheet.

Or they see Reke as a SF... MT @Nate Jones: So if story of Pelicans chasing Tyreke is true, does that mean they are set on moving Gordon.

Kings have to be careful. Bad teams stay bad with horrible decisions in free agency.

Yeah, like overpaying to keep failure worthy teams together or re-signing Jason Thompson level players to MLE contracts when they don't seem like the best fit for your franchise player.

I dont see how we dont match any offer on the table. If the bucks will match any offer for jennings we have to match it for reke. Just cant lose an asset like reke for nothing.

I am thinking it's at least $12 mill. I think we could still match in that case, and hopefully Reke wants to be here, like Jason Jones reported.
If they through the same charade the last coaching staff did with him and don't know what position he plays, or they don't think he's the PG they want, they just saddled themselves with a potentially immovable contract. Not good if you ask me.

I think some people are a little over worried. Tyreke just moved into a new home in Sacramento, for the first time spent/ is spending his summer here, working out in the facilities. I think those are all signs of Tyreke saying "i want to stay". Let this just play out like any other free agent over the years. Kobe in his day met with the Clippers, it all procedural stuff. I'm 90% sure Tyreke is a King next season.

The Bucks are either stupid or desperate. Probably a little of both. They just made the playoffs, however sad the east may be or not, the Kings just drafted in the top 10 for the billionth time. Not to mention drafted a player that would probably play at the same position many teams might try to play Tyreke at.

Don't jump if he's not. If they re-sign him I just hope the position swapping is done and over with. I really wish Malone came out and described what he saw in Tyreke and where he fits, but I didn't hear anything. Hopefully he has an idea.

I think its funny all the people freaking out right now don't realize that the same thing is happening on every single fan forum right now. Twitter has really changed the information availability to the point of it being pointless.

Are there really 10 teams out there for Evans or is it just his agent leaking info? Is there really an offer sheet ready from NO?

None of this is factual stuff just a bunch of rumors.

Doesn't really matter if he wants to stay or not, he's restricted so it's completely up to the Kings. How high they are willing to go is definitely a worry.

Translation: Section 101 doesn't want to be wrong about how much Tyreke Evans is going to get in free agency.

I think what people are missing is Tyreke's agent is doing his job. This is EXACTLY what he needs to do to protect his client's interests/make the most amount of money possible for himself and his client. There will be posturing, rumors set, anything needed to be done to leverage the most amount of money possible, period. Sit back and enjoy it, it's lawyering in its purist form.

Salary cap is always a baffling, moving target. USAToday has the Pelicans and their free agency abilities under such salary cap as:

"New Orleans Pelicans: The Pelicans will have about $6 million to spend, plus a few cap exceptions."

Their pursuit of swingmen seems to indicate that they're trying to dump Eric Gordon's contract though.

Can't wait to see what a "big" offer is for Reke! We might all be pleasantly surprised.

I just think it will be a difficult sell to Tyreke.. they can talk about unloading him all they want, but he is still on their roster as it stands. There really isn't any room for Tyreke, and one can argue there would still be a challenge to give Tyreke minutes and a position even if Gordon isn't there.
