One thing about Vivek, he's such a beautifully sincere public speaker. It's his energy that is beginning to pervade the whole franchise, and, I believe, to the whole city.

Says a lot that he wanted to move up to 2 to get this guy but did McLemore HAVE to go to Kansas? ARGH! Just messin. The whole Robinson thing is still fresh on my mind. Another Kansas alum that dropped into our laps..

I really like the pick, although I would have got Burke with the 7th pick. McLemore was high on my list, and was a player I never thought we had a chance at getting.

Does this year mean we can officially bury the idea of a mock draft as being useful? :) When the #1 and #2 go #6 and #7, we have a problem of credibility. It shouldn't be THAT difficult.

Besides Noel I don't think the rest of the picks were too far off from a lot of the drafts.

So, and I know there's this thing with you and Tyreke, whatever... I'm curious how you see the best fit or some kind of plan going forward for us now with IT, Reke, and Ben. How would you play/coach them? Keep? Trade?

Reality is, after striking out like fools in the last two drafts, we finally acquired a 3rd top 3-5 talent in McLemore, to go along with Reke/Cuz. We finally got a very talented, young trio with room to grow who should fit together and compliments each other's games. That is something to be quite excited about. We're not dealing with a TRob/Jimmer situation. We have a trio we can build around, all three with star power and only two of the three being ball dominant.

But they key is how we build around them or even if we build around them and whether or not Reke is still here is the most important question. If he is, and you surround those three with defensive role players that's a very good foundation going forward. I'm still hoping to hear something related to acquiring a defender tonight. But we now have a trio to build around, a talented trio which should fit. Just have to hope we build around them correctly.

Gary has the passion of his convictions. At least he's consistent. :)
It's always the same argument against me too :)

Gary doesn't like Evans, Gary hates Evans, Gary ect ect ect... I don't hate him. I actually like Evans. I want to re-sign Evans and agree that the Kings should give him a 4th year even when reports said they didn't want to.

I think because John Stockton was one of my favorite players for so long, maybe I have too high of standards. Still remember that last game he played here in the playoffs. I was on my feet for 5 minutes cheering when he came out of the game.

Maybe I will change my tune and say I was wrong if someone can prove that it works, which hasn't happened yet ;)

He's definitely not big headed, arrogant or rude - ever.

Of course, the same might be said about our last GM but I think Vivek Ranadive knows an intimate, sincere connection with the fans and especially knowledgeable long-time Kings fans is needed today, tomorrow, always.

I am glad it's not my job to figure it out, but I would probably have McLemore coming off the bench for the start of the season until we figure out who he plays with best. As for MT I would do everything in my power to move him because we don't need 3 SGs. I would keep IT as a guy that could be a change of pace guard off the bench in the future.

If the Kings can get a SF that can shoot, and they use PPatt at the PF. a lineup of Reke/McLemore/ShootingSF/Patterson/Cousins provides some very nice floor spacing to help Tyreke and Cousins

I don't and don't.
I go back and forth on this. On one hand, you need to keep confronting those who are ill-informed, because if you don't, then those thoughts become popular consensus because of a lack of perspective. I've coached at many levels (not the NBA) for many years now, and can see why things are done a little more than the casual fan.

On the other hand, it does get tiring. Presenting stats and reason, only to have "gut" and "eye test" as a retort tells me that sometimes the other side doesn't want to listen to reason, but I can't just give up, because then they win through attrition.

Oddly enough, I'm sure they feel the same way about me...or they ignored me long ago.

We need a better PF next to DFC. Someone that can rebound, and work that weak side. As for SF I want to get Jordan Hamilton from Denver. He's a hell of a shooter.

He's not going to get much time because of who he's behind in Devner, but the guys per 36 is like 19ppg and 9rpg 2apg. His FG/3pt% is a bit lower than I would like but the guy is a shooter so I know if he had more minutes he would be able to get into a flow a lot better.

Some semi-good news re Reke:

Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 9s
On the advice of his agent Arn Tellem, Tyreke Evans withdrew from the draft party today.Spoke with his camp- he wants to be a King for sure.

Great that he still wants to be a King. If we retain him, I'm instantly more excited about the McLemore selection. Three really great pieces to build around. I just don't want to lose Reke because it'll set us back a few years when really McLemore should be adding to the excitement of what we already have.

You know.. Tony Snell might be a great pickup if we can get him... Hes a good ballhandler and the best passing SF in the draft plus hes supposedly a lockdown defender with a killer jumpshot... Everything we need with Reke/Ben at the guard spots... I really hope we get him. Reke/Ben/Snell intrigues me..

Chicago taking Snell screams trade with us, but I hope it's not the case. The McLemore selection might actually negate the desire for Snell/Hardaway JR, which I'd be happy with. Go shotblocker in the 2nd round...
