And yes, that Hail Mary reference was a nod to Seattle.

Carmichael Dave Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 1m

Consider this like a Presidential election. We are calling the winner tonight. Not official, not celebrating, but it's beyond a Hail Mary.

Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 40s

This is of course assuming Vivek group has monies in escrow AS EXPECTED Wednesday. I am told there are no hurdles there at all.

48 hours from now the saga will be all but over. The threat of the team leaving WILL be over. Just the Maloof issue remains, not for long.

Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 47s

Of course, I'm just guessing (sorry, had to say it).

Carmichael Dave Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 1m

Ill just say it: Wednesday the relocation of the Kings will be overwhelmingly rejected, and the Seattle threat to the team will end.

Carmichael Dave Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 2m

The crumbs that we have heard of contact and negotiation between the Maloof/NBA/Vivek camps have been SEVERELY understated.

Carmichael Dave Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 3m

Litigation from the Hansen/Ballmer camp is all but certainly NOT on the table.

Carmichael Dave Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 3m

Both Relo and Finance committees can vote Wed, most likely both 20 and 7 percent offers will not be acknowledged. Relo vote may end it.

Carmichael Dave Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave 4m

So, sounds like, at least the Hansen part, we will have finality on Wednesday. Obviously Maloof-Vivek stuff is not as well known.

So even though one massive major Goliath of a hurdle will be jumped Wednesday, there's still a little speed bump with the Maloofs. In time.

“@SeaHulkNation: @CarmichaelDave Dave is nothing more than well known fan and in no position to make predictions on #kings.” Agree 100%!

I don't think there is any chance for another presentation. They have already done that. They are thick headed in not knowing the issue is not about them but Sacramento's ability to satisfy the NBA and that hasn't changed.
Seattle's land attorney and maybe Hansen will have a chance to address BOG on Wed. It's all about shutting down even the slightest possibility of court action. To show no restriction on markets NBA must show that offers were thoroughly considered and then decided in Sacramento's favor. That's why there's no statements of Wed. meeting as formality from high up the totem pole of NBA, if it's indeed a formality. :)

I was talking to some Seattle fans earlier and asked about the Seattle arena deal, specifically the public funding. A little less than half the funding, about $80 million, is from the county and contingent on them getting an NHL team. The rest is from the city pending the environmental impact study that isn't due until after a 7 way mayoral election in November. (if he makes it thru August primary)

They didn't think the election would change any agreements but the environmental study could. I only bring it up because the only NHL team up for sale is Phoenix and they have issues of Maloofian proportions.

Just thinking that could be the reason behind them bringing the attorney with them.

Just so folks know. Grant Napear is doing his show from the the Firestone Public House at 16th & L from 3-7 PM on Wednesday. That's why many Kings fans are going there.

Saw this quote from Bob Dylans' "Masters of War" song. Sort of sums up my internal monologue about the Maloofs.

"And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead."

Of course, I'm speaking about their "death" in Sacramento and the NBA. You knew that didn't you? ;)

I must confess that, watching the last few episodes of Game of Thrones, I had the Maloofs taking the place of Theon Greyjoy.

Meanwhile, when it comes to Wednesday's meeting/vote, I'm reminded of Pesci's final scene in Casino: a meeting between Vegas gangster brothers with their former associates out in the sticks.

"The word was out. The bosses had had enough of Nicky. They'd had enough. How much were they going to take? So they made an example of him and his brother ... "

Also metaphorically speaking, of course.

Bruski's article has some great stuff in it. A lot of stuff we have assumed/heard in various circles. A few snippets (go read the whole thing!):

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....ng-russian-roulette-with-seattles-nba-future/

When asked to clarify, the source said that should the Seattle group continue to pursue a scorched earth policy with the Sacramento marketplace, they (Seattle) would jeopardize the city’s ability to secure an NBA team down the road should an opportunity present itself.

......

In shades of past Maloofishness, the Sacramento Bee reported today that the family is still willing to consider the Sacramento offer. Whatever the case may be, league sources have consistently told PBT that not only do the Maloofs have practically no leverage in this situation, but they also have practically no chance of being NBA owners next season. Sources expect the family to accept Vivek Ranadive’s bid after the Seattle relocation bid is denied, perhaps as soon as Wednesday.

From Ken Berger (CBS NBA Insider):

Ken Berger‏@KBergCBS54m
Asked an owner today if Hansen backup plan with Maloofs is a game-changer. ”It doesn't make any sense to me,” he said.

Ken Berger‏@KBergCBS49m
With opposition to relocation unwavering, owner reiterated stance on tomorrow's Dallas meeting: ”It's not about Seattle.”

Seattle should have never got their hopes up after the recommendation meeting.
You can blame the Seattle media for that. Some sane talk from Chris Daniels would have gone a long way. Now a lot of fans in Seattle will be shocked and confused on Wednesday. And yes, they will blame Stern, the NBA and everyone EXCEPT Daniels, Softy and the yahoos running blogs like Stomachs-rising.

Right now I really don't care anymore about Seattle or the clowns. The other owners know who the Maloofs are, they know what they are trying to do, and I'm sure they won't let it happen. I believe the majority of the owners dislikes the Maloofs as much as we do. Sacramento has done everything the right way, working with the NBA and doing everythinh they asked. There's no reason to worry. If you have your own club, who would you accept as a member? The one who is doing everything you ask, following and respecting your rules, or the one who's trying to break the window to sneak into the club?

I'm 100% sure next year the Kings will be in Sacramento and Vivek will be the owner. That's what the NBA wants, and the Kings belong to the NBA, not to the clowns.

I hope it's what will happen after Wednesday - I believe it will. It makes to much sense by far. After all the horrible pain SAC-RA-MEN-TO finally deserves this VICTORY!

Isn't that what we have been saying all along?

Seattle people seem to think that's not the case and that they'll still vote on the sale as well. It couple be partially true because I don't know if the offer could be technically voided or not for that reason. I assume it will probably be a vote on the original bid which supposedly now Vivek has trumped anyway.

I assume that the $625 valuation (the raises by Hansen) are all based on it being a mobile franchise but since it's not then it goes right back down to Vivek's offer. They don't get that money, in this case, can't help since the franchise isn't mobile. No amount of money will make a franchise that's not mobile into a mobile franchise.

Just talked to George Maloof in lobby of Dallas hotel. Told me he's ready for this to be over but doesn't know if it will be tomorrow.

This just RT'd by CD.

Sounds like good news to me. If he's ready for it to be over, would seem that he's willing to just get this over with one way or another (either ownership group) as soon as possible. At least, that's my interpretation. If he's eager to get it done, unlikely that he'll want to go ahead with a [murky] legal case which will be costly.

That's pretty much all he CAN say. Anything else and he risks a lawsuit from Hansen. The Maloofs have to still back the "binding agreement" they made with Hansen/Ballmer until the relocation vote is actually taken.

Oh, I know. But if he wasn't willing to do business with Sac, he probably would have given a different answer. It's a good answer from our perspective.

I read elsewhere that Ryan said on Dave's show that if relocation is denied tomorrow, the $650M offer automatically dissolves at that point. Then there would be a vote on "Plan B." If that is denied, then Ranadive's offer is next up.

Loved Grants show yesterday when a caller commented how the NHL and MLB would be crazy to accept the maloofs as new owners should they pursue a team and Grant stopped him and asked him why wouldn't either of those leagues want the maloofs. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! Is Grant serious? I know he's still employed by the maloofs but CMON!!!!!

but when he talked to Seattle Reporter :

http://blogs.seattletimes.com/nbain...gain-they-want-to-sell-team-to-seattle-group/

George Maloof, one of the members of the family that owns the Sacramento Kings, said again today their desire is to sell the team to a Seattle group led by Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer.

Maloof is in Dallas in advance of the NBA Board of Governors meetings tomorrow, and in a brief interview as he walked through the lobby, reiterated the family’s long stance about selling the team to the Seattle group.

“We have a binding agreement,” he said. “That’s our commitment, to Chris and Steve. We want to see it through.”

Maloof said he couldn’t make any other real comment other than to say he was “here to see what happens” tomorrow when the BOG is expected to cast a final vote on the Seattle/Sacramento tug-of-war over the Kings.
