[Game] Kings @ Warriors 3/6/13

rainmaker

Hall of Famer
Really? Sit Reke for the entire quarter, then basically bring him in the last 10 secs ice cold, put the ball in his hands and tell him to tie it.

Still blame the loss on the coach. Reke and Cuz should of been back in a long time ago. You got a ice cold Reke coming off the bench sitting for over 10 min. and DMC sitting there warming the bench pouting

Plenty of chances to put this game away. This team plays clueless basketball. Can't wait till next year when we have a coach and a team that wants to win.

Like the past 20 years, Warriors aint doing **** this season anyways.

Great game by Douglas (best game by a Kings PG this year_, Patterson and JT was a monster......Tyreke Evans needs to go join the And1 mixtape team if they still tour, Isaiah Thomas should be moved to back forever, Cousins getting owned by a undersized 2nd round draft pick. To many dumbass plays from Cuz,Reke and Thomas in the end cost us.

Loved the lineup of
PG: Douglas
SG:Thornton
SF: (whoever they all scrubs @ SF)
PF:pP/JT
C:JT/Hayes

the ball movement was great and chemistry was fantastic sad we got clowns who refuse to play a team game

ok so he put in the defensive guys (good idea)
but then after they got the rebound he didnt call a timeout to run a play or get the offensive guys back in (Stupid as hell) which left Tony Douglas scratching his head and not knowing what to do and threw up a bad shot.
then Keith Smart runs the awful play we all saw on the final possession.

basically this is a rundown of the game.
Smart is a freakin idiot, Salmons sucked all night and played way too much, Douglas is our best PG, Patterson almost won us the game, DeMarcus is playing like **** lately

While Douglas shot against the clock was bit forced, it almost went down - more unluckly than horrible bad. Before that Salmons T.O. late - critical mistake killer. Reke drive, failure to finish when needed to most - too absurdly typical. Where's Kings power guys who were carrying us for most of the game - minus DMC? Nice game to watch but some typical poor execution, poor coaching, down the stretch.

again Smart's post game pressor leaves me scratching my head. and he also admitting to drawing up that last play for Tyreke and he seemed like he still thought it was a pretty good idea...... SMH

It wasn't a terrible idea. Not what the Warriors were expecting, Reke has hit those drives for game winners before, and that wasn't a great defender on him. We had precious few primary options going who were hot at that point. Do we really want to draw up the play for JT to tie it? I might have tried Patterson, but when your option is running a play for Pat Patterson to win it for you it may be time to think outside the box.

We lost that game because 4 of our starters were awful playing low IQ basketball not cause of Keith Smart drawing up a bad play at the end.

Westphal's obsession with the 1-4 flat still manages to pay dividends for the Kings.

You know, it's pretty telling when a play as spectacularly unsuccessful for us through the years is STILL relied on because Keith Smart can't figure out anything better.

Yes it was, which is exactly why the W's weren't expecting it.

Tyreke couldn't hit water from a boat tonight and had one of those games where all he did was bang the ball hard off the backboard on drives to the basket, yet he's the guy for which you draw up the final play? Not only that, when the game is on the line, Reke displays tunnel vision as much or more than any player on the team. If it's the last play of the game or a 2-on-1 break at any point during the game, he's not likely to pass the ball to the open man. For those reasons, it was a horrible play design.

But poor late-game decisions aside, the Kings lost this game because they couldn't convert simple 2-on-1 and even 3-on-1 breaks. How many of those did they squander? Whomever has the ball in their hands usually waits far too long to move the ball. Cuz is one of the worst offenders. Give the damn ball up already!

No it really wasn't, because we had nobody else we could count on either. Thornton was sucking eggs. Salmons was sucking eggs. Cousins was sucking eggs and benched. I've seen Isaiah and that situation and don't want to again. Douglas had already shown us his own particular version od the play. So who was left? Patterson, JT, Hayes? Like I said you try to run plays for those guys and miss everybody hits you up for being an idiot too. They aren't guys who can create and hit big shots. So...Reke on a bad night is no worse an option than anything else you had going on this particular night. At least he's done it before, he had a pretty good defensive matchup, and frankly tunnel vision or not he was leading the team in assists. I wasn't sure what we were going to run, but I'm not sure I don't try the same thing with the twist that I start Reke on the wing instead of up top, with instructions to kick it to spot up shooters in the corner or opposite wing if he didn't have a lane. Patterson was open on the play btw in the corner, although Reke did not have an angle or eyes on him.

A couple of weeks ago against Miami Reke, Thornton and Cousins were all sitting on monster highly efficient games, and the coach twice called end of reg/end of OT plays for Isaiah Thomas rather than our three best players who were all like 11-18 and stuff. That was terrible coaching. Tonight...there were no good options.

Fair enough. I just felt the possession should have been designed to get Patterson the ball at some point, since he was the hot guy. Even JT deserved a shot before Tyreke.

However, if Douglas doesn't get too full of himself and take that boneheaded deep, isolation shot the possession before, we likely aren't even talking about this.

The same Douglas who was the biggest reason we were in the game by taking out and limiting the GSW's best player? While also moving the ball well and making the correct play 9/10 times. If anyone was allowed to take a dumb shot it was him, and really the shot was not horrible it was a make-able shot for Douglas.

However if our two best players don't take over 15+ boneheaded shots we win that game easily

the only reason that possession even happened is because Keith Smart was too stupid to call a timeout, after he had just made a defensive minded substitution, to get the right players back in and draw up a play
