SI: A Lost Season

It's no surprise that an organization like ours has been this dysfunctional. How can one possibly work at a job where you're essentially a lame duck with the position you're holding. No one knows what's going to happen next year, especially with new owners at play. Does Keith Smart still coach to win, knowing full well that he could be through the same situation he went through after Lacob bought the Warriors. Does Petrie even bother, what with not only retirement abound, but a new ownership bringing in their entire personnel. Does the staff even bother, seeing as how their jobs are barely valued now. (Wouldn't be surprised if we had the lowest paid GM staff, trainers, and coaches in the entire league)
Why should the players care? If they're just being shipped off or used as a stop gap to fill the roster, why not shoot 10+ times a night. No wonder everyone is playing hero ball right now... got to get ready to earn that next paycheck and impress other GMs around the league. Why should MSE employees care? If they move, they lose their job. If they stay, they'll be asked to fill a job that will be replaced in 2-3 years. And the fans. Us. Why should we care? With all these reasons and everything these terrible owners have put us through, it's no wonder why this has become a lame duck season. It's not tanking. It's just a lot of uncertainty with the Kings future that's unfolding to a story of failure. Failure to the coach, the GM, the staff, the players, the personnel, and the fans.
Cousins summed it up best with this quote, "Every year there are allegations," Kings center DeMarcus Cousins said of the speculation, "and we're just as lost as the fans. We never know what's going on. We never know what to expect. We can't just focus on ball. We're residents of Sacramento, too, but we don't know what's going on."

This whole mess will be over soon and given the history Kings might end up with the 1st pick!
You get out of life what you put into it. Same goes for business and in this case the Kings. Maloofs have been cost cutting for at least 5 years now so things could only go one way and that is into a downward spiral.

Cousins' funk started with the sale announcement. I wouldnt be surprised if he's taking it pretty hard, he has been quoted on numerous occasions as loving Sacramento.
Honestly, I think every season since the Maloof's lost their daddies fortune has been a lost season. They wont spend on a roster, and even worse, they hire coach after coach who squanders and delays the growth of all the young talent we've picked up via the draft.
I cant wait until the Maloofs are out. I wish them the worst in life. Cant wait to hear about how they **** up with the money from the sale.

all the good it would do us. though there will be talented players available, there are no surefire stars at the top of the upcoming draft, no chris pauls, kevin durants, blake griffins, etc.
should new ownership opt to retain both cousins and evans, i would hope that they might package their lottery pick with any combination of just about anybody else on the roster to secure a third talent, a veteran talent, to help stabilize the starting lineup...

It started with the sale and I wrote a nice long note of what I thought that did to Cuz but as some people are sick of my psychiatric BS, I just erased the note. You know it's the "buck up Cuz, you are paid to be a player and your human concerns need to be ignored."
Does anyone remember Smart's post game interview on that day? He spent a great deal of time worrying about the consistency of his children's schooling. He clearly was more worried about his family than the Kings. That is admirable but not good for the Kings. I picture that each player has his own story that put the game of basketball #2 on their list of worries.

I really do think this is a lost season. Anybody really think the Maloofs give a @#$! about the team, the staff, the arena or anything else at this point? It's not just a matter of where they will be next year and all the uncertainty about it, its the fact that this is a completely rudderless team/organization at this time. That has to be hard, whether you are a player, a coach, a front office person, an announcer or the person who takes tickets or sells hot dogs. It must be pretty darn dreary around the old barn these days. That can't help but be affecting to real people and their families, no matter how professional.
